I feel like the arrangement is miss identifying chords....the bass line in particular doesn't sound right....However its the best choreo I've seen this year. And I've always been a huge fan of the group.
@Banaramahama The arrangement very much honors the bass line and chord progression of the original, but the voicing of the chords themselves is more complex and harmonically dense than Katy Perry's version.
@kuchikuu Exactly, It sounds more harmonically complex than the original, and not in written in root position. When changing the inversion of the bass line, it can change the chord completely if you don't double the root or third of the chord in tenor/alto/soprano and if you are throwing in NCTs it will make the chords as I said, not sound right. You can do both if you hit the correct inversion on the strong down beat . But then again, this is college a cappella and there really aren't rules.
