Like I said in the other video. I'm not 100% about most reviewers, but I still feel that you need a BS in computer/electrical engineering to review technology. Anand is a fine example of this (I believe he has an Masters in CE?)
Indepth analysis, easily one of the best review sites on the web with reliable and in depth information from embedded computing to Servers and GPGPU.
Excellent review, once again. I switched from an iPhone 4 to a Galaxy Nexus and couldn't be happier.
Especially since this week with the release of Chrome for Android. I'm a fan of Google services and loved the native Gmail app. Google Calendar is excellent. Docs is lacking, virtually missing (just a cloak around the web version). The stock browser is alright.
Now with Chrome, Android has just got the best mobile web browser, making ICS the state of the art mobile OS right now, IMO.
This is only the second of your videos that I have seen and I must say, you are probably the best reviewer I've seen. You are very well spoken, very knowledgeable, and incredibly informative. I'm new to the whole Android scene (ordered A TF201 today, my first Android device) and your videos are not only easy to follow, but very helpful. Thanks! :)
Facial recognition is gimmicky. All someone would need, is a picture of your face. That loses to other convenient authentication methods, since someone would need to steal your eyeball or one of your fingers for those. I believe I'll just stick to the pattern lock for now. XD
very good review and discussion. More informative than just reviewing the galaxy nexus. Compares the fundamentals between the android platform vs. windows vs. iOS.
I wish they used Samsungs own Exynos SoC for double the graphics performance as this one, but still a great phone. I think I can hold out a bit longer though with my Nexus S for some Cortex A15 action a year or so down the line.
Spot on with appliance vs mobile computing device. Now it makes sense to me why iOS and WP7 always seems to have an unbreakable tether to a desktop computer, while with Android you're good to go out-of-the-box.
you are commenter not presenter .. you are good but your comments is for users tested but if you are making a review you have to show us not tell us .. but i like and appreciate your opinion a lot
Krait. Next gen System On Chip from Qualcomm, will be under the Snapdragon S4 name. Quad core and supposedly up to 2.5GHz, with a graphics chip to match. Still Cortex A8 based, but with lots of core enhancements.
It isn't the wrong information. They licence the Cortex IP, then customize it as much as they want. I guess I used "based" loosely, but its not an A15 is what I was going for.
Wrong again. They didn't license any Cortex IP. Both Scorpion and Krait are designed from the ground up by Qualcomm according to the ARMv7 instruction set. Please look it up before you make yourself look like a fool.
Buddy, relax. Is there nothing better in your life to get angry over? They are designed from the ground up, but still closer to the A8's architecture than the A15, that's all I was trying to say. Whatever you're grumpy about today, show some manners.
From a technological standpoint, Scorpion falls somewhere between A8 and A9 (since it's partially OoO and slightly faster than A8).
Krait is actually very comparable with A15 and way more advanced than A9. Both Krait and A15 have a OoO speculative 3-way issue superscalar execution pipeline. Krait has some advantages though: it's pipeline is shorter (11 vs 15) and uses a unified reservation station (vs dedicated reservation stations on the A15).
What are you saying now? Is this your way of saying that you were wrong about both statements? Take note that I never called you a fool but warned you about being one. I think I was trying to do you a favour since this is Anand's channel and he reviewed both architectures pretty extensively. Any vivid Anand reader would have known that I was right off the bat.
*Sigh*. Yes I was wrong, congratulations. But what I was saying was that if you had started out with your last post about the architectural differences, I would have looked up the details and agreed. Instead you started out being confrontational. Its over, I don't care, just something to remember next time you encounter someone who is wrong.
lol, YOU look like the fool for getting your panties in a wad for that little a thing. Krait IS still closer to the A9 than A15, who cares if they licenced the core or not, he said it was different but more similar to the former. You look like a kid with anger problems for starting to insult someone over that. Leave this stuff to the adults, child.
Great video. You recommend that we look at the full review (which I already have) but the URL isn't in the description. It would be great to have it there for quick reference for those who are looking through the archives of your vids :D

Search netflix in the android market.
Then scroll down to an app called Movies Now.
Great movies and you don't have to pay a subscription like netflix.

Qualcomm doesn't licence ARM cores but the instruction set! As such, it never used the Cortex A8. Don't spread wrong information.

I should specify a bit more: ARM11 is the last core Qualcomm licensed from ARM. Scorpion and Krait are built from the ground up by Qualcomm.
