and since there are not many hockey opportunities here in the hot climated south because of there being no snow usually, hockey always is in big arena's {no pond hockey} so kids are not exposed to it as far as being able to play ice hockey unless they are near one of those arena's
and since most black culture in america came from the south ther are not many black hockey enthusiasts but im proud to be one of those few black hockey fans
im a black midgets age group goalie and i love hockey and im from florida but i believe it has to do with where ur from for instance im from the south so there is not alot of hockey but i was around hockey alot as a kid cus i went to every local echl team game in my hometown so i developed a love for hockey but most black people in the south are not exposed to hockey so they do not become interested in it and the same holds true for any sport so it all has to do with what ur exposed to
Brotha;s like hockey, but its real slow on tv, (not baseball slow) but slow compared to basketball, Funnything is its stupid fast in person. Maybie its eating those blooming onions take too much of my attention. but the game is good, my only gripe is how people act like fighting in the nba or baseball is a crime and bad for the kids, but seem to ignore how hockey literally takes time out for fights to take place, literally a part of the game!!! personally i mostly love F1 racing, and alms
lots of african americans love hockey. in fact, in the coming years, guys like Dustin Byfuglien in Chicago are going to be pioneers of a new sort: the oncoming rush of many great young black players in the NHL. just wait.
I was blessed by my boss with 2 front row seats of the Red Wings WCF Game 2 against Dallas in 2008. I took my brother and we were a little timid because we was the only black people there. But the fans were cool. No one gave us flak
@breezwonder glad to hear that. i would imagine that would be a pretty awkward experience being the only people of color in the crowd. hockey fans can get pretty rowdy.
to sum it up alot of black people iin the south + not alot of hockey in the south = not alot of black hockey players from the south

I think that was the Philadelphia Phantoms from the AHL.
Philadelphia is a fairly big hockey town with some die-hard fans.
