That line would've been better than "BELLE IS MINE!" Sure, the aforementioned statement added more emphasis that Gaston's obsession with Belle was reaching its absolute limit, but "TIME TO DIE!" makes Gaston stand out a bit more as a villain.
Before the fight at the Castle he was portrayed as ignorant, arrogant, sexist, narcissistic, obssessive moron with little regard for others.
It would've been better to give a bit more "Edge" to make him seem more intimidating.
Hearing the "Time to Die" line sure made Gaston a pretty threatening character compared to the line he said in the official film. Although, "Belle is Mine" focuses more on the plot of the film and Gaston's egoistic personality, which slightly makes more sense than "Time to Die".
Not only this was well-presented, but quite educational for both Disney and animation fans. Nice work Tony!
Wow, I never thought I'd be able to hear the original line until now! And it is awesome!! Thanks a bunch Tony!!
I agree with startanica, the synching is impeccable and makes him seem so, well, evil! But "Belle is mine!" fits with the storyline too. I can go either way with it. Thanks again!
Roarin' Tony! Just like you, I can go either way with this. "Time to die!" fits better with the lip sync, while, "Belle is mine!" fits better with the plot that Gaston is still fighting to win Belle.
You did a terrific job of tweeking the sound bite that you found. Again, Roarin' good job!
Awesome! It's great to finally hear the deleted line that I heard about from Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale's commentary on the "Beauty and the Beast" DVD. Great job matching Richard's White's vocals into the film, it looks completely seamless!
I have to admit though, it took me while to do this. I had to get the sound clip, then tweak it, then enhance it, then sync it to the-- you know what, it took a while! XD
I know!!!! I could imagine how hard it must have been to make it THIS perfect!!!!! Gah!!! But I keep watching it over and over, and I just showed it to my sister, and we were both screaming at it!!! It gives me the chills!!!! Oooohhhoohoohooo XD
I think changing the line to "Belle is mine" was the right idea. The whole fight was about Gaston getting rid of Beast to win Belle. So the line fits him perfectly, since he's the type to rub it in.
Besides "Time to die." just doesn't capture the moment for me. That line's been done too many times.
I see where you're coming from. One other hand, this sequence could have worked either way in my opinion. "Belle is mine" works because, as you stated, it shows Gaston's goal: winning Belle no matter what. "Time to die", however, shows the ruthlessness of Gaston, which is a bit more epic than shouting "she's mine!". I do have to admit that that latter IS a little worn out, but it's the WAY he says it, accompanied with the thunder, that sold me.
Gaston: Let me go, nobody wants to make it to the sequel like Gaston

I always thought "Belle is mine!" didn't go right with his mouth. Well done for discovering that small but rather interesting piece of trivia.

To be honest, I prefer this line than the original line. Gives him more of an edge of being a villain

How on Earth did you find this?
Anyway, either line works in my opinion, but, admittedly, Gaston did seem more butch with the "Time to die!" line.
