  • what is the tunning?

  • feel a bit ashamed to say this but i've tried to youtube Mississippi Blues and they don't sound anything like this... i'm a blues noob from the cold mountains of switzerland. just trying to keep warm ;)

  • @elbones1982 There is Mississippi Delta Blues, which is Son House, Robert Johnson, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, and so on. This is Mississippi Hill Country blues, from the northern part of the state. You've got RL Burnside of course along with Junior Kimbrough, Fred McDowell, T-Model Ford and others who play in that Hill Country style. Hope this helps

  • @Odin029 Sure does! Thanks chief

  • Keep on jamin'!!!

  • This is so great, it made me tear up. Thank God someone wants to keep this Great American art form alive, 'cause the kids today are just putting our crap!

  • modal blues? it means?

  • @borsecrosu Google "Modal Blues"

  • Rapaz esse neguinho ja trabalhou de pedreiro comigo

  • Fantastic

  • man that white guy sucks

  • True American music, great stuff.

  • This guy is the man!

  • I saw RL live in Long Beach CA. Pretty amazing show.

  • I like this

  • you will be the luckiest person in the world if you ever jam with one of those really old, black, blues guitarists.

  • Jack White?

  • Is the tuning Open G# ?

  • THIS GUY IS MAGIC,PURE MAGIC

  • For some reason RLburnside reminds me of my granpa

  • greatest guitar lesson in history

  • I have the complete Vid at home with Dave Stewart, its from ca.1993 , great Vid with much big Blues impresssions from the Delta...............

  • "Let it come"! After Mr. Burnside's realization that "Hey, dis white boy can play duh bluze"!

  • Your not poor if you can afford a Fender.

  • @pveg65 He's not poor because of his guitar talent, he's a legend, man.

  • A lot of guitar players play around with "the blues" but very few can play "the blues" RIP RL

  • Oh Yea!

  • Dave got it pretty quick!

  • impresses me how RLBurnside is so talented that he could have been living in a huge house with a pool, with an expensive car,but he prefers living in his poor little house....ah,the life of an original bluesman.....

  • 2:14 I think he's impressed by that bit

  • Notice how ol Burnside's rhythm is sharp, square and precise vs wannabe's sloppy meter....Takes the real deal to play the blues. Lotza wanna bes in this world ain't there? Either you got rhythm or you is white.

  • @banjovialone You can't get any whiter than Johnny Winter.

  • @banjovialone Either you are smart, know the damn grammar and are not retarded racist, or you ''IS'' you.

  • @banjovialone

He's just retuned his guitar to match Burnside's and is playing the song for the first time, learning it as he actually fucking performs it. Maybe, just maybe, this has something to do with it being a little sloppy.

  • good job..

  • This is raw music kids. Totally raw.

  • wesome the groove !! respect old bluesman

  • no mississippi blues!!! the name of this song is "long haired dooly"

  • I just burst of tears if i had been there. Is it Dave Stewart,i think maybe...?

  • am i the only one that notices that dude is way off tune?

  • Is that Dave Stewart taking lessons from a legend? No wonder he's a talented guitar player!

  • yeah that too. i'd wipe 'em both the fuck off my face before sitting down with RL.

  • oh boy what i'd give to be that white dude. i'd remove the stupid sunglasses for starters.

  • @thelonious1234 the sunglasses are fine- its the facial hair that needs to go

  • whats the tuning??

  • i think sombody done got a lesson in the blues !

  • Blues is Music to my Soul

  • RL starts off so angry and he ends up loving it haha

  • good stuff!

  • Those Japanese Squires are top drawer.

  • This masterpiece blends together real fine !

  • are there more of these vids?

  • is that dave stewart

  • @fuzzmeister13 yes it is

  • 1:43 - 1:49 is where it's AT mf's

  • Seems that Davie boy got the technique pretty easy, but he'll have to work more on the "Burnside" style sound.

  • is he playing a squier by fender?

  • @mrLOLurFUNNY that's absolutely irrelevant when it comes to playin' blues, isn't it?

  • @sigilopator Yeah amen!

  • @sigilopator Dude i have a squire tele and it is bluesy as fuck

  • @zabba312 glad to hear that man, blues on!

  • How unbelievable it would of been to be lost in those woods and stumble across the sound of this music.

  • I want to live there

  • I wish I had a teacher like Mr Burnside!

  • that's eurythmics guy!

  • someone accidentally hit the dislike button

  • i did not know johny depp played guitar with burnside. johhny depp does it for me.

  • @shelliebellie3672 maybe it´s Depp alter ego Jack White!. :D

  • what is that for a acoustic guitar?

  • is it just me or does the other guy really and i mean really sound like george harrison

  • Isnt this from the series called "The Blues"

  • only thing missing is the redblood coon hound. great video:)

  • @vatti902 What is a red blood coon hound? Don't you mean redbone?

  • how i can only dream about being able to play blues like that. :)

  • he is the english rocker in his own right not some white boy or kid trying to steal the blues and producer of this clip you knit witts

so if it was not for him u would not be looking at this clip!!!!!!get a life!

  • white boy got no feeling

  • White man is tryn to steal the blues.

  • @ollieroks Music does not belong to any one race. For instance, whenever african-americans invented jazz, they combined "black" blues and "white" classical music (among other styles). They obviously thought it was ok to use the music of other races. Plus, if Burnside thought that way, he would not have done this.

  • Sî!

  • Get rid of Stewart and replace him with Tom Petty. Better fit.

  • My god man is that his house?

  • Seriously?! Get rid of the Sunglasses, the douchey facial hair, and all the gold shit on your hands! Show some humility before the almighty Burnside, you magnificent tool!!

  • @marquismikie You're kind of right about that..lol.

  • @marquismikie lol i agree but that is dave thomas from the how do u spell it? arithmics.. but yes, hes a scarce 2nd to R.L. burnside,, check out junior kimbrough's music as well.. they were friends.. both hail from northern mississippi

  • johnny depp?

  • @jms8220 not hardly lol..

  • @jms8220 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU!!!!!!!!!! you are fucking BLIND!! send me an e-mail "letsgoooo@gmail.com" and i will send you 10 bucks for glasses!!!

  • Isso aí é blues. Bodhisattva Blues Band também.

  • It would be awsome to have a grandpa like that

  • This clip is from a dvd called Deep Blues. It's hosted and narrated by Robert Palmer. The guy playing along side RL is Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics.

A great dvd if you can find it although, (sorry to any Dave Stewart fans) Dave does come across as a bit of a douche.

  • Defo a young looking Dave Stewart. And judging from the shirt cut I'd say circa 1997. Anyone got an exact date? Fab clip of RLB

  • That isn't Jack White in the goatee, is it?

  • David A. Stewart looks like a douche bag Jesus with all that gold and the sunglasses.

  • love it !

  • Ahh open G? :D

  • Fucking Kickass!!

  • R.L. Burnside is the Truth!

  • Tune your guitar to D# G# D# G# C D# to figure it out like Dave Stewart just did there.

DEEP BLUES is also a 300 page book by Robert Palmer.

  • @ringodingo there´s a CD, Deep Blues Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, that is fantastic and I´m happy of have it. It´s a jewel. Unfortunate, I couldn´t see the movie till today.

  • @ringodingo yes this is the true tuning

  • wow

  • Before Jack White covered his guitar in paper

  • feckin great, feckin great, feckin great,....do I have to say it again ?????...God damn..

  • I think it's kinda funny that Dave Stewart works so hard at it: being cool, playin' the real blues and it just seems to come so effortlessly for RL. At least he was there paying the man some respect.

  • RL like most Mississippi Blusemen get more respect after their gone. He wasn't really discovered until 1993 and that's a shame.

  • this is tha first time I have seen rl play a tele, ma fave guitar platform/wynn richardson...I so love rl, I love him, he has a place in blues heaven with me, I hope the alien gods that populated this earth like him, and are taking care of him, rl is special to me, a whole lot

  • who else thought wtf is johhny depp doing?

  • This is fabricated. The white guy is dubbed via blue screen. Nobody looked like that in 1978. The song is Long-Haired Doney

  • This is fabricated.

  • Dave Stewart is like a little kid learning from a grampa. This is great footage. The Master and the student....

  • what a smile of the Burnside....

  • @reevo79 You're so right...it made me smile too.

  • i think rl was actually a bit impressed
