FINALLY! Someone who actually concentrates on Dirk during his solo. In rebuttal to some of the other comments; Dirk Lance was one of the greatest slap bass artists of his time. He was never corny with it and always used slap as an amazing sort of "tonal percussion" (and yes I made that up). Btw, Ben Kenny is not a great bassist... he is a great guitarist. That's why it sounds like there's a guitarist and a bassist trying to be a guitarist whenever you hear newer Incubus stuff now. Miss you Dirk!
@mikescroco dude, you were there?! I would have killed to be there. Being at a time where they were prime for rocking out on stage, and being in a small venue.. shit..
when brandon was rapping, he sounded a lot like anthony kedis... i always thought they both have similar voices and would do great if they sang together. that would be the best tour ever, chili peppers and incubus.. i wish...
i should be clear that mike is also great friends with Flea from the chili peppers, and has said slap bass is best left to artists such as him and les claypool
hey, ive got the new skin single (with cd multimedia) and i really want to see the live footage, but my new pc is apparently too good for the device. lol. anyone have it / can post it? xD
sorry, i didnt make the statement clearly the first time. mike einziger said slap bass is best left to artists like Flea. Flea didnt say anything about dirk lance. mike mentioned that slap bass sounds corny now. i'm sure thats because of incubus' hatred for nu metal
he said it a year or two ago, but i'm sure he believes that because of the 'cheesy' use of slap bass in nu-metal...a genre mike and brandon loathe, especially because incubus used to be compared to limp bizkit, which i have the feeling incubus thought was shyte
ohh yeah i remember now...actually i have the Breakfast with Incubus and he qualified rap-metal' attitude as pathethic, though he said they're good friends with Limp Bizkit

The bassist in this video (for the record) is Dirk Lance (aka Alex), Incubus's original bassist. Not Ben Kenney.
