  • Got this on vinyl

  • It was not until now did I realize Levis Stubbs had a little Otis Redding in his voice.

  • The Favoured Uncle of Soul!

  • Interesting way they staged it--the instrumental tracks by the Funk Brothers were taped, but the vocals were clearly live and great (and subtly different from the record). Never heard the Four Tops live--but they were clearly a great live performance group.

  • I actually prefer this vocal to the released version. Great video

  • I'm so glad he stayed with them...and they with him even after he became ill...Just as close as brothers, or closer if that is possible...An example to many other groups that stay loyal only a fraction of the time...Great group even from hearing their earlier pre-Motown recordings...They knew how to make themselves sound great...YOU JUST HAVE TO LOVE THEM!!!

  • I know he loves me too. We are just 40 years too late.

  • When I was a kid I'd hear my Dad say "they just dont write and sing good songs like that anymore " (refering to Sinatra)now I as I listen to my dear old 4 Tops I just say the same thing...They just dont write and sing songs like that anymore

you think anybody will be saying that 20 years from now about Lady Gaga or JZ?

or any of this other shlock? Not Likely Duh!!!

  • My favorite group EVER. Just love Levi's voice.

  • Too bad the Funk Brothers could not make the trip.

  • my fave motown group and the greatest

  • Levi Stubbs' classic delivery will never be duplicated...one of the Greates Hits of the Four Tops, and the show "Hullabaloo"...OMG..on NBC with ABC's "Shindig" set a trend that is un appreciated today. 77 WABC AM New York City music as well..

  • @johnnysalami13 The Tops were very loyal to each other. True friendship. Did you hear that Diane and Mary!!!! The Tops had respect for each other, too, and displayed true showmanship both on and off stage. A prime example for anyone who decides to be a part of a band or vocal group.

  • first motown group i ever heard in britain couldnt beleive what i was hearing still love it.

  • I remember geting this when it first came out. What a hit! The group was on a rool and could do no wrong. "7 rooms of gloom" and "Can't Help myself" was in that string of hits. Love them still. Sorry that all had past except one when it was time to receive their Grammy.

  • Levi has a dramatic edge to his vocal - he will never be forgotten

  • A great Four Tops tune that isn't played too often.

  • Love them....I saw them last feb..of course only

Duke is alive...I have seen them back in the day and they were great then and still great, keeping the memory alive

What great guys....friends for so long

the longest running group ever, 43 years

Yes, Levi could have been solo but he was loyal to his buddies...

    till death do us part

Levi was married 48 years too

never a bad word about these guys

    and wow...they sure can sing

    Love this song

  • one of my fave Four Tops songs! i cant hear this and not get happy

  • @williamg2552 They did not have much room to do their 'skating' either!!

  • Those were some smooth brother's back in the day. What a change in today's music if you want to call it music.

  • This song, social reinforcement, glue of America. I was a teen and my brother in law-welder, hardworker-this song confirmed and reinforced his work/love/faithful to spouse & family ethic. He would sing this to my sister while she did dishes and ironed for 4 kids in Catholic school. Levi and the whole thought is sadly missed.

  • Best Four Tops song-thank you thank you thank you!
