He does seem like a nice, CRAZY guy! Has anyone every asked him WHY he did it?!?! Along with the man who jumped to his death on 9/11, I could NOT watch this man. My stomach is in my SOCKS just thinking about it.
He did it, because as he said the Towers called him. The arrogance, the sheer size, and them being the tallest buildings in the World made it his dream to go up there and put a tightrope and dance across their gap 1,368 feet up above in the sky.
@America100000able "I'd stand on good firm ground and let them dare away!" Marella Cuthbert Anne of Green Gables My sentiments exactly. I would have loved to go to the observation deck, and thanks to some people's memories and imaginations, in vid form, I did get to the top of the WTC, if only vicariously. Walking across it? NO WAY!!!!!!
@MrsWLeach I turned down a trip to the Empire State Building. I had a few panic attacks while watching the documentary. It was fantastic, very well done.
@ykaiilah Me too, on the panic attacks. Not full blown but just seeing it scared me! It was an excellent doc, but not for those of us with strong imaginations!
For all you fans of Philippe, see yet another side of this amazing man, live and down to earth on stage in NYC for the first time! Tell your friends, bring your friends. Look for the event on facebook!
June 16, 17 & 18th—"WIRELESS! Philippe Petit Down to Earth"
This man absolutely blows my mind--he does this as he breathes and I got to go, 5 years after and I stood at the corner where he stepped off the building. It's just awesome--on film you can see that he has committed himself to his own death before he takes the first step and then...he is a child who has learned to fly...such utter joy in one human face. He began his dream when the towers were only announced--and planned and planned and planned. Just cool as beans!
he didnt get an oscar...the film makers did...but he should have....when he said in the film "i had to make a decision to shift my weight from my foot anchored to the tower, to my foot anchored to the wire...I knew it was death, but I did it anyway that's why I was there..." best stunt ever?...one would think so..but i'll bet somewhere in time someone has pulled something off crazier..we just dont have it on film...like guys jumping out of planes with no chutes trying to catch wind?
That's not Reggie. It's a large woman w/shades. Look closer. This guy is really something. He sure had a pair in his youth. I'd have much preferred being shot on the stairs, than to even attempt walking THAT wire.
The one dislike is by the security guard on the top of north tower :)

wtf is up with the camera focus. Switch on autofocus and leave it alone.
vamp9190 1 year ago
@vamp9190 It is in autofocus, that's why it does that. Autofocus sucks. But that's not really important.
