The horse is clearly objecting to the application of the rider's spurs. Note that whenever the spurs are applied, the horses' tail swishes in annoyance, but when the spurs are not being used, the horse's tail is still, calm, at peace.

@HellsFatalicAngel The hell he's not wearing spurs! What do you think those shiny things are on his heels? The horse is clearly annoyed and refusing the spur as evidenced by the swishing of its tail. It is not shooing away flies. I would also point out that the horse's head is bent beyond the vertical. Not good.

@pistolstokes that is not always true. i have ridden many horses with and w/o spurs. most also swish their tails w/o spurs, but some dont. It can be true, but we cannot know as we do not know the horse.

I'm a teenager that pays for her own horse, and i ride at national level. It is a sport. When i see you simply jump on a horse and ride at this accuracy and level and say it was not hard, and your not physically challenged, then i will say horse riding is not a sport.

It's high level dressage - The spurs are for refinement of aids so they don't kick them in the ribs every time they want something different, and the double bridle is the only thing they can wear (I don't think they're allowed bitless).

You're right- the exta bits and the spurs are used as aid refinement, and it's actually kinder to use them then to yank and kick all the time. And I see no hint that his saddle doesn't fit. If it didn't, Matine wouldn't be moving as well as she is.
