  • I recorded a guy who was doing blow. when it came time to record his guitar was waaay out of tune, I said we can't leave that on tape...he said that's my sound. I said not as long as my name is on it.haha.

  • If they were playing this song on 9/11 it would have stopped the terrorists.

  • anyone know this song from "Transformers" ??? because I do! "Finnish him off Prime!! do it now!!!"

  • 6:06 for tit flash!

  • Proof he could have stopped 9/11

  • John C. Reilly and Wahlberg must've improvised this. This is pretty funny after seeing the film but it wouldn't have worked in the film.

  • It's definately taking away from his vocals.

  • Annyone Knew that the "Nick the Engineer" Is Michael Penn, None other then the Actor Sean Penn's Brother, One of the only few films he's In I think . . .

  • great

  • wouldn't a couple of octaves sound like chipmunks doing chipmunks?

  • @luno44 WOW THAT WAS COMPLETELY OVER YOUR HEAD!!! OCTAVES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SPEED OR TEMPO!!!!!!!

  • @HonRevPTB What happens if you speed something up so that the frequency of any given note is compressed, resulting in it sounding like it's 1 octave higher? It sounds kind of like chipmunks if you're singing. What if you do it 2 octaves? I guess it sounds like chipmunks doing chipmunks. That is it's super high pitch because it's playing super fast.

  • 3 people don't have the Touch, don't have the Power.

  • LOL "speed it up a couple of octaves" speed has nothing to do with pitch. IT'S FUCKIN' NICK, MAN!

  • I'm thinking they left these scenes out because as brilliant as John C. Reilly is here, he is a little over the top. This part of the movie was supposed to be about the fall of the porn stars after their prime and Reed's performance in the deleted scenes makes it more comedic than pathetic and depressing like it was supposed to be. P.S. CHEST ROCKWELL 4EVER...

  • It's FUCKIN' NICK!

  • Really sums up the 80's...those nostalgic for that decade either were too young or did too many drugs to remember it.

  • @YogaforCynics Isn't that the same thing people say about the 60's? :-)

  • I loved this scene but I guess the directors already felt that it was already made clear that Dirk's mind had already gone off the beaten path. I guess he felt there was no need to keep repeating it. He probably also wanted to show more scenes with the other performers how they fell on hard times in the early 80's. Mainly Julianne Moore, Heather Graham and Don Cheadale's characters. Still a great movie and should have won big at the oscars!

  • LOL.. brilliant movie.. lol.. I wonder what Stan Bush thought

  • I love this shit!!! This movie is classic!!

  • boob shot at the end

  • The amazing thing is, this track was actually released for the Transformers Cartoon movie, in 1986. And that line: " You must have taken too much LSD or something. Your ears are fucked! "...brilliant!

  • @getula4003 I hear ya...why this was deleted we'll never know. Lol

  • No autotune in 1983. I wonder if this is what T-Pain sounds like sans the electronics.

  • The studio that released Boogie Nights was sued and settled twice because of this song. The original (much better btw) was written and preformed by Stan Bush who did LOTS of movie songs in the 80's. The producers of BN found old studio recordings of the song but it had no names or anything that could ID who wrote it. It was assumed that it was written for a movie that never got made and included it. Both Hasbro and Stan Bush sued them because it was written and used for Transformers the movie.

  • Feel...Feel ...Feel...Feel....Feel.....Feel my heat...LMAO. I say, Nick has to turn down the bass cause it's taking way from the vocals..Lol

  • Feel my heat would have blown justin beiber's shit away on the charts,

  • Theme song for "Transformers: the Movie" - the animated feature.

  • "You know what it is? It's FUCKIN' Nick, man."

  • You have been doing too much LSD because your ears are fucked

    SOO good

  • Holy Fucking Shit!! John C Reilly is so God Damn funny!!! I can see why they left these deleted seens out, but I sure am glad I watched'em!

  • mr technological genius

  • Some of the best lyrics ever. Pure Genius!

  • "We should slow it down... I mean speed it up...speed it up a couple of OCTAVES Nick. H I G H L A R I T Y !

I have to agree with patton303.

Good engineers have the patience of JOB.

  • Mr technological genius

  • It sounds like mud.

  • he actually sounds pretty good when he sings the first 3 words at 0:19 it's just the rest of it that sounds shit lol

  • Feel, feel, feel, m'... feel my heat...

Hope Nick was rolling the tape!

  • LOL Hibob418, I bet you can tell some stories of the musical "genuises" giving you a helping hand..LOL

  • speed it up a couple octives lol my first session was.....prettty similar

  • pause on 6:07 =)

  • i got a hard one from watching this, i am really gay and the only way i get it up is with this youtibe video

  • @xXanimelover69Xx that sounds ......................pretty gay in all the different ways it is used..

  • As a recording engineer, this scene is absolutely painful to watch. And yet, eerily familiar. Speed it up a couple of octaves... man.

  • @hibob418 I work as an animator and video editor. I feel the same dealing with clients

  • Let's speed it up a couple of octaves! EPIC!!!

  • ..Transformers the movie 1986 :)

  • Mark's best movie.

  • thats what all shitty singers say 'the bass is taking away from my vocals'

  • i LOVE MARK AHLBERG

  • what a piece of shit. poor nick. i'd get up immediately and send those bastards to go f u ck themselves! hahaha hilarious. those guys dont even realize how much they SUCK! i can sing better than that while eating my cereal!

  • Poor Nick. He's like "It's not my fault you suck".

  • lmao man you can totally see the tech dude wanting to break character and laugh

    "Top 40 Right?" "Yeah"

  • It sounds like mud

  • Oh god, poor Nick. I would fucking flip

  • "You've been doing way too much f*cking LSD or something because your ears are just f*cked"

    pure gold.....

  • Marky Marks rap career as fake as dirk digglers

  • People me tell I look like Han Solo....

  • @HopllyteAlpha Really ?

  • less bass! less bass!

    thats not the bass....

  • Ha ha. that's the crappiest song i ever heard. Sounds like my band's demos. We sucked. I know how it feels. We all think its great but in actuality it stinks. Great movie" Boogie Nights " a classic.

  • Yep- speed it up "a couple of octaves"... LOL

  • Micheal Penn...wash his face...funny shit

  • you got the tooouch!

and the bass was taking away from his vocals...

  • The sad part is that I've actually had sessions like that. Right down to some idiot spilling whisky into the console.

  • He sucks so bad its so funny

  • the character reed rothchild helped make this movie badass

  • At 3:55 where Dirk comes out of nowhere and blames Nick for nothing.... This scene is brilliant!

  • what does octaves actually mean?lol.

  • @951oct An octave is essentially a frequency measurement. If you double the frequency of a sound, it has gone up an octave. Two notes an octave apart will match each other harmonically. But in the context of this clip, Dirk telling the recordist to 'speed it up a couple octaves' essentially means that the tape would have to double or quadruple in speed to meet his requests, thus making it sound like squirrels raping each other while on speed, and that's what makes that line so hysterical.

  • you've been doing too much LSD or something cause your ears are just fucked! LMFAO

  • YOU DO!

  • Speed it up a couple of octaves. LMAO!!!!!

  • They play 'coked up' really well. Maybe, too well.

  • People will not believe you when you tell them: "yes, the early 80s were this cheesy, and then some".

  • the bass is taking away from the vocal.....

  • IT must have been hard to keep a straight face w/John C Reilly dancing to this right behind you.

  • the headband on Reilly's head cracks me up - totally 80's

  • Whalberg really reminds me of Gary Moore with the haircut, and that red outfit, and they also have similar faces. (Check out Parisienne Walkways with Lynott)

  • optimus shud be puking right now

  • mw has the nasally voice haha

  • THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING!!!

  • This was ROBBED at the oscars.

  • @TheTruthfulAsshole Yes it was. P.T. Anderson has been robbed twice.

  • @TheTruthfulAsshole Every movie PT Anderson has ever made has been ROBBED at the Oscars.. Fucking academy sucks dick.. Same people that took 30 something years to give Scorsese his oscar Lol gtfo..

  • @TheTruthfulAsshole ROBBED

  • thats not the base....thats not the base...LOL

  • That studio guy is so funny

  • Marky Mark should only be in movies that call for intentional bad acting and singing he's a natural.

  • @Sureshot82 hes supposed to be bad in this part that what makes it so great?????

  • @renorocker64 That's my point he really doesn't have to try hard to be so bad. That's why it seemed so effortless.

  • Speed it up a couple of octaves LOL hysterical

  • If everybody moved as much as Chest Rockwell, there would be no obesity epidemic.

  • "So let's just speed it up a couple of octaves."

  • yo Nick, are we rolling on the rehearsal??

  • @PHMI16 Keep the vocals up!

  • "You must be doing way too much fuckin LSD or something because your ears are just fucked!" ....SNOOOORTT!!

acting characters this dumb and delusional is probably harder than it looks

  • Ha! "You've been doing way too much LSD or something because your ears are just fucked!" I love this movie and so many others with amazing quotes and great dialogue. The delusions every character has about themselves is entertaining and very human.

  • This movie manages to be very dark and very funny at the same time. Love it!

  • As a musician, I can tell you that sound guys LOVE it when you start hitting random buttons and knobs on their board. Now speed it up a couple octaves!

  • I think basically we should just slow it down. I mean speed it up.

  • this is hilarious. these guys are the biggest douches and Nick is REALLY patient

  • Comment removed

  • Walberg's bad acting actually works for this movie. Definitely his best role.

  • @telomerase1978 He's not a bad actor at all. I've seen far worse. Anybody who could make this role so real and likable is a good actor in my book.

  • " I was born ready"

  • wow! Mark really improved his vocals voice in rock star.

  • I hated MarkWahlberg before Boogie Nights. Now I think he's 1of the best actors of his generation.John C.Reilly is the man too

  • nick has a lots of patience....

  • speed it up a couple of octaves.

come on nick, you heard him.

  • it looks funny w/no voice!

  • Tamaslammer:

    You're right, Tamma!

It was in the original Transformers (animated) movie. Done a little better, of course. But still just as corny.

  • This is pretty much reality in the music biz still to this day.

God... engineers have to put up with so much fucking amateur bullshit like this.

    Bless their nerdy little hearts.

  • This is my life... ugh... people leaning over the board and telling me how to mix. ;)

In fact, I'm in a session right now showing this to some session players.

  • @patton303 you're a "knobber" sorry engineer for sure.

  • This was actually a real song in the 80's. It was in some movie.

  • i can def smell a classic over that dog shit he just sang ha ha ha ha

  • ..The motion..

  • I just keep thinking of Rick James and Eddie Murphy in the "my girl wants to party all the time" video! LOL

  • Let's lay it down. Nick, were you rolling on the rehearsal?

  • "let's just speed it up a couple of octaves"-Classic

  • "Let's speed it up....I mean slow it down".

  • "Feel my Heat" really isn't any worse then a lot of the music that some real bands were putting out in the 80's, I'm thinking groups like RATT and Kiss (Lick it up?).

  • Would Feel my Heat wouldn't be out of place on any ACDC track?

  • best cover of "u got the touch" i have ever heard.

  • Classic non stop !

  • I can smell a single

  • MY EARS!!!

  • lol....speed it up a couple octaves.....lol

  • lol why doesnt the producer there tell them how bad it is lol?

  • Cause he gets paid whether they suck or not :)

  • They are paying him..

  • it's so hilarious that they go from the cool seventies to the cheesy eighties!

  • And we thought we looked so good back in the 80's, but the 70's were lame.

  • @Pernest63 The 80s is way better than the 70s. I hate 70s music, unless it's punk rock. Other than that it was mostly overrated hard rock bands, progressive, and disco. Yeah, Led Zeppelin is good, but I get tired of hearing their same old shit over and over in everyone's roster of "good music". Look deeper. The 80s had more unique, artistic styles and better films. I don't see how it's any "cheesier" than a decade where people had afros, wore bell bottoms, and went to roller discos. It's not...

  • Its so bad, that its GOOD ! LOL "the base is covering the vocals."

The only base covering anything is the FREE BASE. I forgot how truly great these scenes were. The music scenes are like a disco version of Spinal Tap, on CRACK...

    LOL

  • nice outfits lol

  • 1:02 sounds like tim armstrong from rancid

  • lol do you think this is where Hawthorne Heights got the title for their song "Speeding up the Octave"?

  • I think the final cut was the best. This is funny, but didnt add to the movie.

  • Why would you take this scene out of the movie? Too good.

  • lol speed it up a couple of octaves

  • lol. im a real mellow guy,and can take alotta shit, but if this was REAL,and i was nick,i woulda punched these guys in the face for telling me how to do my job.i cant stand coke heads who think theyre cool.

  • " youve been doing to much fucking LSD or something because your ears are just fucked"

  • lol best line ..."you know what It is its fucking nick man..he fucking getting us pissed at each other"

  • Great clip and great film - classic and tragic characters, Scotty, Colonial, Little Bill...

  • John C. Reilly has been under-appreciated for far too long

  • agreed

  • @charlespowell33 yes he has!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for this.

  • I would buy this if it were a real record...

  • it IS a real record. stan bush. from the transformers soundtrack.

  • Stick to acting Mark!! Ya Hot Thang You! ; )

  • "Let's speed it up a couple of octaves"

  • "a couple of octaves?"

  • LOL @ 0:46 you can hear mark yell, "a little less bass." then john c. reilly trys to lower the bass and nick says, "that's not the bass." LOL

  • How cool Thanks for sharing.

  • Nick's face is priceless. Gone through that thousands of times.

  • This song was in the Transformer cartoon movie like 86, I think!

  • Anyone who steals the Transformers Movie song is cool in my book!!!

  • Is the base taking away from my vocals!?? Yeah...it's definitely taking away from my vocals!! ;) Haaaaaa! ;)
