Annyone Knew that the "Nick the Engineer" Is Michael Penn, None other then the Actor Sean Penn's Brother, One of the only few films he's In I think . . .
@HonRevPTB What happens if you speed something up so that the frequency of any given note is compressed, resulting in it sounding like it's 1 octave higher? It sounds kind of like chipmunks if you're singing. What if you do it 2 octaves? I guess it sounds like chipmunks doing chipmunks. That is it's super high pitch because it's playing super fast.
I'm thinking they left these scenes out because as brilliant as John C. Reilly is here, he is a little over the top. This part of the movie was supposed to be about the fall of the porn stars after their prime and Reed's performance in the deleted scenes makes it more comedic than pathetic and depressing like it was supposed to be. P.S. CHEST ROCKWELL 4EVER...
I loved this scene but I guess the directors already felt that it was already made clear that Dirk's mind had already gone off the beaten path. I guess he felt there was no need to keep repeating it. He probably also wanted to show more scenes with the other performers how they fell on hard times in the early 80's. Mainly Julianne Moore, Heather Graham and Don Cheadale's characters. Still a great movie and should have won big at the oscars!
The amazing thing is, this track was actually released for the Transformers Cartoon movie, in 1986. And that line: " You must have taken too much LSD or something. Your ears are fucked! "...brilliant!
The studio that released Boogie Nights was sued and settled twice because of this song. The original (much better btw) was written and preformed by Stan Bush who did LOTS of movie songs in the 80's. The producers of BN found old studio recordings of the song but it had no names or anything that could ID who wrote it. It was assumed that it was written for a movie that never got made and included it. Both Hasbro and Stan Bush sued them because it was written and used for Transformers the movie.
what a piece of shit. poor nick. i'd get up immediately and send those bastards to go f u ck themselves! hahaha hilarious. those guys dont even realize how much they SUCK! i can sing better than that while eating my cereal!
Ha ha. that's the crappiest song i ever heard. Sounds like my band's demos. We sucked. I know how it feels. We all think its great but in actuality it stinks. Great movie" Boogie Nights " a classic.
@951oct An octave is essentially a frequency measurement. If you double the frequency of a sound, it has gone up an octave. Two notes an octave apart will match each other harmonically. But in the context of this clip, Dirk telling the recordist to 'speed it up a couple octaves' essentially means that the tape would have to double or quadruple in speed to meet his requests, thus making it sound like squirrels raping each other while on speed, and that's what makes that line so hysterical.
Whalberg really reminds me of Gary Moore with the haircut, and that red outfit, and they also have similar faces. (Check out Parisienne Walkways with Lynott)
@TheTruthfulAsshole Every movie PT Anderson has ever made has been ROBBED at the Oscars.. Fucking academy sucks dick.. Same people that took 30 something years to give Scorsese his oscar Lol gtfo..

As a musician, I can tell you that sound guys LOVE it when you start hitting random buttons and knobs on their board. Now speed it up a couple octaves!
"Feel my Heat" really isn't any worse then a lot of the music that some real bands were putting out in the 80's, I'm thinking groups like RATT and Kiss (Lick it up?).
@Pernest63 The 80s is way better than the 70s. I hate 70s music, unless it's punk rock. Other than that it was mostly overrated hard rock bands, progressive, and disco. Yeah, Led Zeppelin is good, but I get tired of hearing their same old shit over and over in everyone's roster of "good music". Look deeper. The 80s had more unique, artistic styles and better films. I don't see how it's any "cheesier" than a decade where people had afros, wore bell bottoms, and went to roller discos. It's not...
Its so bad, that its GOOD ! LOL "the base is covering the vocals."
