Nice engineering guys, impressive, a post grad thesis? What do you plan for target acquisition or optics? wireless cam routed to the computer? How is the elevation actuated? Good luck with the project, its stuff like that that makes me wish I studied engineering and not organic chemistry.

@bremac1000 Thanks for the comment. It was a senior level undergrad class only 1 semester so we were limited on time for cool extra features. We wanted to have target tracking, but that is a whole different monster. Everything except the metal base was custom made though and yeah we mounted a wireless camera on top which was displayed and controlled on the computer. We programmed in assembly too so that was a real bitch, but you could really create tight controls on the stepper motors

It's an initial prototype for sure. Really wouldn't take all that much to move it to a rough terrain capable track system. When that happens I'm done with the sport. No way I'm taking on a machine.

btw why are the paintballers arguing with the airsoft players? It's technicaly the same sport. You can play speedball or scenario with either of them really.

One of that exact model... Meh, using it out in the feild = useless. It's not terrain friendly, it needa a polished surface like a floor to operate. Now if they got treads on it then maybe it would be usefull.

Nice work. I'd hook up with some of the folks that have built platforms for Battlebots or other robotic conflict events... Getting that on a treaded middleweight with an x-10 cam would be quite interesting. (working on one myself)
