I've learned how to play this melody on my violin. Now when my brother comes over and hears me play the theme song and this song, he always thinks I'm giving him a sign to play this game.

It seems like a lot of things are happening to myself and my family making me revert to an old version of myself that I was finally getting over. Good work. I think you've hit the nail on the spot with regards to preserving the original melody against adding your own creative touches. I'm not sure if it's an improvement on the original, but it's different in what can only be a good way.
Many 'remixes' and 'arrangements' on the Youtubes are just re-instrumentalizations, which is a bit of a waste of time.
@matthuhew4 simply search for "Melodies of Life lyrics" on the web and you'll find it ;) it's not written by Kate so I guess that's why she didn't put lyrics with it :)

thats for thouse who say they cant play 9 because they look like kids, also Zidane and Bartz do make good matchs as they werent emo and Bartz was as free spirited as any of the protagonists ive seen from 5 to 13
umm the reason most do look like kids is they look their age, Cloud was what 21 and looked 18, Squal was 17 and looked 20 and was taller then Cloud. Zidane is 16 and is the perfect resemblence for his age unlike Cloud and Squall.

Kate, I know this so silly, and kind of candid, but when I was younger, I used to listen to melodies of life all the time, i thought it was one of the most beautiful sounds, from the game or otherwise. Needless to say, it has a measure of sentimentality to me, its silly when I think about it, but this song means alot to me.

This is beautiful. I love the drums. Final Fantasy 9 was my favorite out of all of them. I agree with you on Freya being the best character. I agree with SolestLightInTheDark -- I think One Winged Angel would be absolutely divine, but I think it's something you should bring to Stella Voci to do. Forget the instruments, go acapella. I think it'd be an amazing challenge and well worth the work!!

@norluan They're all live instruments ^w^; which is why I'm limited in what I'm able to produce (since I don't have a whole orchestra at home ) I can play the violin very well since it's my main instrument, but I can play (on intermediate level) piano, harp, and guitar, and beginner level everything else (tribal drums, recorders, various percussion, hammered dulcimer, lute, and panpipes) I also have an electric piano with some synthsized sounds on it, but I've only used it in two songs.

Kate, I know this so silly, and kind of candid, but when I was younger, I used to listen to melodies of life all the time, i thought it was one of the most beautiful sounds, from the game or otherwise. Needless to say, it has a measure of sentimentality to me, its silly when I think about it, but this song means alot to me.
You absolutely captured the spirit of this song. Your harmonies are perfect. Its such a beautiful piece of music, and I honestly think its leagues better than the original.

This is beautiful. I love the drums. Final Fantasy 9 was my favorite out of all of them. I agree with you on Freya being the best character. You have an amazing voice and i am very glad people including myself have the ability to listen to it. I love all your works. This one, Youre Not Alone, Rose of May, Cleyra Settlement. I also really like Sallys song from nightmare before christmas. YOU ARE AMAZING. Rose of May is my favorite though. Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with SolestLightInTheDark -- I think One Winged Angel would be absolutely divine, but I think it's something you should bring to Stella Voci to do. Forget the instruments, go acapella. I think it'd be an amazing challenge and well worth the work!!

one of my favorite parts of final fantasy 9 was when alexandria was invaded
that beautiful melody when garnet and eiko was being called to summon the holy gaurdian alexander it's called the chosen summoner i love it! very mysterious ^_^ i think your voice will be very beautiful with that melody!
i wrote lyrics for that song it but didn't turn out so good lol XD

@SolestLightInTheDark xD I've thought about that! It's not the vocals that would give me trouble, but the extremely complex orchestral score that would be difficult to put into an arrangement for my instruments ^^;

Might require a bit more work to get it right admittedly, the score for that is crazy complex.
Would be interesting to hear it with a female vocal in your style.

@norluan They're all live instruments ^w^; which is why I'm limited in what I'm able to produce (since I don't have a whole orchestra at home ) I can play the violin very well since it's my main instrument, but I can play (on intermediate level) piano, harp, and guitar, and beginner level everything else (tribal drums, recorders, various percussion, hammered dulcimer, lute, and panpipes) I also have an electric piano with some synthsized sounds on it, but I've only used it in two songs.
