  • Does anyone know the whereabouts of George Gesslein bass trombone? Please contact me with his number... Thanks!

  • @zalechlabe Unfortunately George suffered a fatal accident (a fall) about 2 and a half years ago. This was told to me by Bob Bowlby lead alto. What a loss!

  • @beedoe51 George and I were buddies at Mannes - sweet sweet guy. Thought of him tonight and was shocked to learn of his passing. How in the world did he fall I wonder? So young. Such a nice nice guy. We hung out. I would have loved to have given him a call, now... Second bone classmate to have died. I heard he did show work after the Rich band. I hope that he was doing well up until his passing....

  • Awesome number. Tony Garruso does a fantastic, consistent job on lead tpt making a tough high G ending seem easy! Great solos from the two bones and lead alto! Buddy's left hand shuffle throughout is like a jackhammer and sounds great too, amazing. Can't believe it's already 27 years ago.

  • @lawrencelam2000 I totally agree! Thanks for commenting! :)

  • AHA, so that's what this is called. I remember them playing this in about 1985 with Eric on lead tpt. at Penn in Philly.

  • GO TONY GORRUSO....thats my cousin...i have a great video of him playing with frank sinatra in Japan.......dante Gorruso

  • I actually got a message from Tony several weeks ago and sent him a dvd of this concert. Haven't from him since. I hope he is ok. Very sweet guy! Thanks for commenting! Steve

  • If you talk to him again ...tell him his cousin Dante said hello and that i miss his father alot since his passing......keep in touch.......your friend, Dante Gorruso

  • I sure will pal. He hasn't signed in for over a month (ttrumpetguy). Maybe he's on some road job or something. Thanks Dante!

  • Buddy could always play a shuffle to death, he wasn't just about chops, he's grooving like crazy here. Reminds me of "Hookin It" from the '82 Montreaux show

  • I totally agree! Thanks!!

  • As always a great band with a great player.....this is a new chart to me .........does any one know if it is on an CD at all (or vinyl) ?

  • This is a nice chart. I don't know of a recording other than this tv show. Thanks for commenting!

  • It's the first track on an album entitled "Buddy Rich & His Big Band at Stadshalle Leonberg Germany"

  • Thank you!!!

  • I don't believe those songs are on this tape. This is Big Bands From Disneyland. I have this on tape as well.

  • Saw him play this live on April 8th in Dayton, Ohio. I taped the band that night. I always liked it. Thanks Man! Do you have "The Trolley Song" or "Get Me To The Church On Time"?

  • I sure don't. Wish I did. Those are great charts. Thank you!

  • I like this arrangement!!!

  • Cool Chart! I think this one of his better bands.
