  • Lived off 14...before there was an Antelope Valley Frwy. I used to ride motorcycles on it when they were building it in the early 70's. I sold the house where I grew up at (off golden valley) about the time this was shot. I never thought I would miss the 14. Thanks for posting this. You gave me a smile.

  • @joehnunya: Hey, thanks for watching! The 14 is definitely a fun ride; you don't see too many curvy 8 to 11 lane sections of freeway with HOV lanes, running through the mountains with a 5% grade to boast. I sent a message in your inbox with a couple of other videos that, combined with this one, offer approximately 60 miles of coverage from end to end.

  • nice, love Devo, super energy

  • @0marigolds: Devo is 'da 'ish!

  • . yes great to see it all again Brent - thanks for sending it my way! ..

  • @GeoffJennyOliver: Glad you enjoyed the ride!

  • Love this, music works perfectly with the video! Very scenic too!

  • @vaughanweather: Hey, thanks! Glad you enjoyed the 14; it's def. a fun freeway to drive.

  • Great video!! I think this freeway is unappreciated. Some of the views you can get from up there when not obscured by traffic and/or smog are terrific.

  • @FreewayTitan Your so right, this freeway is very underrated. It goes from Major interchange, to Mountain Pass to Mojave Desert Cities to Mojave Desert. Fun transition.

  • @Travisjcjunky: Have you driven the stretch of Highway 14 thru Red Rock Canyon State Park? I'm hoping to get up there sometime in the next couple of months. In my opinion, it offers the most amazing scenery along what is an overall very interesting state highway.

  • @FreewayBrent No actually, I have only been on the 14 from the 5 to Mojave. I haven never been north of the 58 on the 14. I've always wondered what it's like up there though. I look forward to the video.

Do you think you may do a video of the 14 from Antelope Valley to Mojave, or just into Mojave, for some reason that town always interests me.

  • @FreewayBrent By the way, I did enjoy the song in this new video ;) This kind of video puts me in a good mood!

  • more SoCal vids coming? : )

  • @adrianroam95: Check out my I-210 video that I just released. I'm gonna try and work on a new So Cal video, once per week.

  • This is a cool video!! I really like the 14 Antelope Valley Freeway, and i'm glad you did a video of it. Anychance your gonna do more of the 14? Great video.

  • @Travisjcjunky: I don't believe I responded to your comment? I plan on eventually filming it, all the way out to Palmdale. Probably wait until work sends me out that way.

  • @FreewayBrent I don't think you did, and my email didn't notify me. Cool!! That is a fun drive when you drop into thr Antelope Valley, personally I recommend working your way all the way to Mojave. It's kinda an interesting drive. But Great job as always!

  • Great vid, Brent.

  • You should film the LA/Orange County rush hour traffic. I want to see how bad southern Cali traffic is. I would greatly appropriate it. Thanks :)

  • @MyRAWNerves: Ha, pay me and I will. Rush hour down here drives me crazy. But unlike others, I remain calm while stuck in near-gridlocked conditions.

  • @FreewayBrent Haha! so Its actually like a parking lot on the freeway well thats what I've heard, I wouldn't know because I'm from Kansas and there is not such thing as Rush Hour traffic here.

  • @MyRAWNerves: Ha, well I'm not sure if you would consider Kansas City to be the "real Kansas", but I've seen some pretty bad traffic jams along I-35, I-435 (before they finished widening it), I-70 and US 69, when I visited in 2006.

But yeah, the freeway that I live nearest to (I-210 in Pasadena) gets so bad, that it can take well 2 hours to drive less than 15 miles of it during rush hours. For the afternoon rush, backups start around 1:30 p.m., and does not completely clear up until 9 pm.

  • @FreewayBrent Yea I guess Kansas City has some bad Traffic and Lawrence also has some bad traffic before and After a Jayhawk/KU game, even Wichita has some bad traffic, but the traffic here is noo wayy near as bad as California's traffic. I've been stuck in my first California traffic and I'm originally from California but it was in Dublin & Oakland Cali going to the SFO Airport about Half the time we were stuck in traffic.

  • Great drive. The scenery reminds me a lot of that stretch of I-15 in North San Diego County between Mira Mesa and Temecula

  • @assaultislove: I actually drove thru that stretch of I-15 today (no filming, though). There's definitely some similarities, although I'd say the first few miles of CA 14 are a bit more extreme with the elevation changes than any stretch of I-15 (between Mira Mesa and Temecula). Hey, by the way, there's a huge arched bridge over I-15, somewhere north of Escondido? Would you happen to know where exactly it's located?

  • Looks awesome Brent. Great work.

  • @eluko79: No problem. Thanks again for your efforts in helping me out, earlier this month. :-)

  • @FreewayBrent: And I have no idea why I said "no problem" in my previous response, lol. I guess I had one too many beers, while I was responding; whoops!

  • flying along at 220 mph is so cool!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent video!

  • @wipandco: It's one of my favorites; I always get a thrill out of driving CA 14 thru Santa Clarita.

  • Nice job with this one... great scenery and like the song too.

  • @VaFreeways: Devo!

  • too bad it's only 3min, I can't wait to see more of sunny california, thanks

  • Great. Santa Clarita is a big suburb. I have an '87 Rand McNally atlas and it wasn't even incorporated back then.

  • @aswchris: I wanted to include an annotation about its incorporation in 1989 (I think?), but hey, the video was only 3 minutes long, lol. A lot of locals still refer to the names of the 4 local communities, that consolidated to form Santa Clarita (Saugus, Newhall, Valencia and Canyon Country).

  • @aswchris: I just read that it was incorporated in 1987, not 1989.

  • Looks great! I'm really liking your new camera.

  • @haljackey: I only wish I could go back to Toronto, to film their awesome freeway network with the new camcorder!

  • good job

  • At 1:34-1:40 there was a white van that crossed in the carpool lane a little bit too late.. Would he get fined for it?

  • @HoltCalifornia: Technically, yes, that driver could indeed get ticketed for that maneuver, but I highly doubt an officer would pull somebody over for that. Now, had the driver crossed over, maybe a couple of hundred feet farther down, then the sirens would probably be turned on.

  • Fantastic work, the mountains look much greener than the last time I drove that way. Can't wait for the next part!

  • @IsoscelesKramer: Thanks! I filmed this on Sunday. The recent downpours have really helped to add a nice touch of greenery to the local hills and mountains.

  • Good Job Brent!

  • @GT3RD: Thank you!

  • Excellent work, enjoyed the route, footage looked great!

  • @Freewayjim: I'm definitely happy with the new camcorder! And this is definitely a route that my old camcorder simply would not have been able to handle, without some awful shakes.

  • @FreewayBrent Looks like you made the right call :)

  • More State Route 14 please!

  • @PanzerVIZeke: Hey, I was just reminded, I never did respond to your message from a couple of weeks ago. Lemme respond in the next day or two. And yeah, there will be a future video that'll cover CA 14, from Exit 11, out toward the southern edge of Palmdale. Peace out for now!
