I think it's brilliant that this was a professional movie with star actors and a two-million dollar budget and people in the comments think this was a weird sketch by the uploader. Might be telling too...
you must remember in all technicality he was the ORIGINAL emo. shakespeare's characters tend to be very pessimistic and suicidal, especially in this. i mean, it's a soliloquy about suicide after all
holr crap there buddy it just a movie "Hamlet 2000" have a look some time, Bill Murray now that crazy but he does a good job of it. Ethan Hawke ... Hamlet Kyle MacLachlan ... Claudius Diane Venora ... Gertrude Sam Shepard ... Ghost Bill Murray ... Polonius Liev Schreiber ... Laertes Julia Stiles ... Ophelia Karl Geary ... Horatio Paula Malcomson ... Marcella Steve Zahn ... Rosencrantz Dechen Thurman ... Guildenstern Rome Neal ... Barnardo
this movie does have some rearrangements and a few dropped lines such as the ending - those lines are not at the end of the original, but within the play, but still the movie is a good one and is effective and creatively done. as far as being in a video store, hamlet was a little crazy right? but I think its a good choice. it shows how modern life has its bombardments everywhere and where else is a thinker and philosopher, tho be he a bit whacko, to have his thoughts as he is out and about?????
in the movie, the version of hamlet portrayed by ethan hawke has a slight obsession with movies, as he makes homemade videos and carries his camera around everywhere. i think this is just to show he's not all there and, as somnambulistyes said, he's not exactly what you and i would call sane.
imagine your obsessed with films, you're contemplating suicide, and you're not exactly film. what do you do?

Lol, true. Though, I reckon Achilles was the original emo - taking in all literature anyway.

Learn the piece properly. You dropped lines, you're pronunciation is poor, and what the hell does a video store have to do with Hamlet or suicide?
