I bought a new samsung player recently off ebay. so far the only issue has been the screen freezes which seem to occur more often toward the end of a movie. Going to try putting a cooling fan under it tomorrow to see if that helps in case of overheating. No problems with audio or skipping or definition yet. It only cost me $86 AU including delivery so here's hoping.
Sony Blu-Ray player will always be the best. Its fast and easy, plus the design is slim and very attractive. Sony Company will always make the best products in the whole world.
I agree that this player is a piece of crap. It has endless issues like it won't load or take forever to load or no sound, so you have to power it off and power back on and it's also highly sensitive to even small scratches.
I would avoid the Samsung players. I bought this one and I have to agree that it's a piece of garbage. They haven't fixed many of the numerous bugs like random "no sound", the fact that it literally takes 30-60 seconds JUST TO TURN ON which is absurd, and takes forever to eject, play and do most operations. It's just a highly unresponsive unit. The firmware is just awful so while it may technically support many features, they're so badly presented and implemented that it's just infuriating.
CNET reviewed Samsung BD-P 1500 about a year or so ago.Along with other about how "GREAT" player was I bought it. Blue laser went out after 4 months of not using it or it not being touched, not even powered on in that time. Now it only plays standard DVD's with the red lens. Blue laser is shot and the red laser tries to read the disc.Today the BD-P1500 has complaints all over CNET,Amazon and more sites, same issue after few months by owners of1500.I wonder how dependable BD-P 3600 is.
The best blu ray player is the Playstation 3 but if you look for a stand alone blu ray player that costs less than the ps3 and has all the features of the ps3 you might wanna look at the panasonic dmp bd35. I have this blu ray player and it has the cnet editors choice award.and it is the best stand alone blu ray player...so don't forget it!!! PANASONIC DMP BD35!!!
Yeah it does BD-live and Profile 2.0. I picked one up, U have to do a firmware upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0 to get the BD-LIVE. To me it does not take that long to load. I enjoy it very much!
I have the same player, I love it. I also own A Toshiba HD DVD player and honestly there is no difference. I see a difference BTW this and cable HD this looks better than Cable HD meaning when there is a fast motion scene UC the pixelation on cable but not on the Sammy well for that reason neither the Toshiba. Now, I don't see the Jaggies except on Movies that I've burned and played
(+R -R.) I don't see it on the SD movies. I love my Sammy!
First I purchased a BD P1400 in Feb 2008, it broke in just 3 month, just outside the warranty expiration. I have to pay to fix it now. Then the BD P1500 went on sale for $199.00 so I purchased it rather then fix the 1400. Well it stopped reading discs. 2 player = two bricks. Who would think 2 different model players would have the same issues. Samsung's support was very uncompromising and unsympathetic. DON'T BUY THESE PLAYERS!
Great picture in blu-ray movies. I don't watch standard def movies on this though. dolby true hd/dts hd sounds excellent. Btw,the i do notice some jaggess edges like he said in the review.but, that doesn't bother me.
ive always gone with sony players, but the blueray player that has caught my eye is the new panasonic dmp bd55 its the bomb, what gives it the edge is that it plays normal dvds great and plays blueray superb and it plays div x...
Oh that sucks man, it's a shame though, this player is really hot! But I was also looking at the Sony BDP-S350 as well, so any complaints on that one, because I need to get some user response on this one.
Whenever I would put a normal DVD in the player...it would say "no disc". I then checked to see if I had the latest firmware and I did. Then I went back to the store and exchanged it for another one, and this one did the same thing lol, then I just got tired and returned it for a Sony BDP-S350 which works like a dream and decodes Dolby TrueHD right out of the box! :)

@GlennNCA Your testimony, sadly, is right to the point. Moreover upgrading the firmware makes it a brick, stuck at the "LOAD" stage.
Infuriating indeed! Samsung is mocking us.
