However, the US started the war when it sent troops down to the rio grande, which Mexico claimed was already in their territory so Mexican troops fired to protect their land claim. New Mexico was just like New England. It was a colony. The Mexican-American war started because of a border dispute in which America sided with Texas, beat Mexico, and then paid for land that over decades became valuable. Most of it was not an oasis when we bought it.

We didn't steal it. The California Republic (what you depicted as stolen) seceded because they did not want to be ruled by "New Spain" (aka. Mexico). A few months later they signed the right files to cede to the United States. If anything they should just secede again.

Through all of this arguing and hate, no one has even mentioned the NAU. Once the North American Union is implemented all of this arguing will be for naught, and we will all be Americans. Why would you want these territories to become like Mexico is now? Even with our problems we don't have crazy drug armies killing and chopping off heads. Our roads are better. Our standard of living is higher. Our healthcare is better. All of that will change if Mexico retakes this land. Furthermore, the USA can't give Mexico anything. These are sovereign States that have self determination. They belong to the people in each State, not our Federal government.
@SpamZoid I agree. I love Mexico. I actually plan on moving there to live in the near future. In spite of its problems, they have great potential. I've been there 15 times since 1999 sometimes for months at a time. However, I don't think they'd really want to change the SE States even if they took them back. They'd see the difference in infrastructure and standard of living in those States and would demand that changes be made to make all of Mexico into their image.

Sadly that is true, we had fewer population, we still have a corrupt government, Texas was almost wholly settled by americans (with our government's permission), then when the war broke out, only the capital (Mexico City) and very few other states sent an army, since the other states said "The people from the center have a war" Sad that still we are not one country , but the playground of a selected few

@jramcruz I agree. You should be able to travel through Mexico AND your ancient homelands in Arizona. But I don't think the answer is to replace one state government with another. State government IS the problem.
Both the American and Mexican governments are guilty of unjustifiable atrocities. We shouldn't be herded like cattle into tax farms. We should be free to associate with whomever we want, as long as we respect the properties and traditions of all people.

We didn't steal it. The California Republic (what you depicted as stolen) seceded because they did not want to be ruled by "New Spain" (aka. Mexico). A few months later they signed the right files to cede to the United States. If anything they should just secede again.
And if it belongs to Mexico because they were there first... that makes no sense. Mexico is stolen land. So, let's deport all of us Whites and Latinos back to Europe!

Through all of this arguing and hate, no one has even mentioned the NAU. Once the North American Union is implemented all of this arguing will be for naught, and we will all be Americans. Depending on how it is done, this could be a good thing for all 3 of the North American Countries. History is always complex, what matters is what's the best road for the future. Is expanding the current Mexican system and government a good idea? I think it's better to work together, with the U.S. as a partner. ANY country going to war with the U.S. is a dream, as is the U.S. handing anybody it's current territory for any reason.

The first fatal mistake was made by Mexican President Antonio Lopez when he abolished the Constitution of 1824, causing unrest in Mexico. Coahuila y Tejas, (now Texas) won it's independence from Mexico because of this.
When the U.S. later annexed the independent territory, naturally there were border disputes with Mexico.

Why would you want these territories to become like Mexico is now? Even with our problems we don't have crazy drug armies killing and chopping off heads. Our roads are better. Our standard of living is higher. Our healthcare is better. All of that will change if Mexico retakes this land. Furthermore, the USA can't give Mexico anything. These are sovereign States that have self determination. They belong to the people in each State, not our Federal government.

@SpamZoid I agree. I love Mexico. I actually plan on moving there to live in the near future. In spite of its problems, they have great potential. I've been there 15 times since 1999 sometimes for months at a time. However, I don't think they'd really want to change the SE States even if they took them back. They'd see the difference in infrastructure and standard of living in those States and would demand that changes be made to make all of Mexico into their image.
