I really do understand your heartfelt concern. I'm a nurse and often times find it so sad to send elderly people home when I don't feel they can properly care for themselves or that they have to be sent to a nursing home where their freedom is stripped away, all because they have no family or family that won't chose to include them in their lives.
Being a prepper and talking to others is what will hold this country together. Change starts from the bottom up and I do see the shift in people attempting to take back responsiblity and live more out of the governments shadow. I just don't know if the movement will gather enough before the collapse completes itself. Occupy Wallstreet, regardless of their unorganized protest, was the beginning of the first wave. Change is happening, but as always, it is slow.
Don't worry brother. Remember there are others like you, and we're here. We'll be here to help those who can't help themselves. The light will shine through the darkness.

I really hope and pray that WROL will never happen, I really hope and pray that somehow we can get the right person into the government that can find a way to fix it. These politicians when they are running for the Presidency make so many promises but when they get elected promises are broken. The best way to fix our country is to bring our soldiers home and bring back jobs to the U.S. that are overseas!
SouthernPrepper1: the answer to your question, what will happen to those with little or no physical strength, abilities or supplies? There is a higher authority. The Creator is aware , intimately, of the weak, widows, orphans and homeless. As man staggers to create an ideal world ignoring the ways of God the inevitable end is disaster. There will be a reckoning, the judgments will be swift and complete, and the suffering innocents will be healed and restored.
I don't have the answer either but; those of us who do survive a WROL situation, yet fail to protect the Widows and Orphans, what type of society does that leave us with. We need to change the prepper paradigm to include a systematic method to be inclusive to the larger community of like minded people who may not be capable to help themselves. Our prayer as preppers should be that the Lord blesses us that we may be a blessing to others. Preppers need a more organized network.

Reality check, buddy. Since the "indians" years ago didn't have much, they had very little choice. Settlers (farmers, etc) at the time were not much different. However, "indians" today, shopping at the same stores and driving the same vehicles, contribute just as much trash and pollution as anyone else. Just attempting something of that magnitude would put you and yours at risk, my opinion is stick with a close nit group of family and friends with whom you can trust. Circle the wagons and when the dust settles start over. No I don't think it will ever be the ideal america that we all long for, but atleast we could have control of ourselves and that Is a wonderful start.

Another reason I went with the glock was weight..they are very light and easy to hide. My rifle is a 9mm as well and it also happens to take glock magazines. Made by thureon defense. I have common ammo (9mm is easy to find and cheaper than most) along with common magazines..which means no matter what magazine I have on me it will fit whatever gun is in my hand! If I may, I would like to respond to SexyWhittyKitty. I made this choice myself not too long ago. I was advised to try different guns with different calibers and figure out the highest caliber I could shoot accurately. For me that was 9mm. I chose the Glock 26 for it's simplicity...safety is in the trigger no complicated levers or switches because I am fairly certain that if I am in a situation where I need a firearm I am going to be scared out of my mind and shaking like a leaf...another reason

Question: Could you recommend a particular kind or brand of firearms to purchase if you currently have none and could only purchase, say one handgun and one rifle? At this time last year, I was a healthy 30-something woman with a new hubby, living with him and my mom. Then both she and I were diagnosed with cancer. Just like that, all our plans were derailed and our priority went from prepping to getting through cancer. If we had to bug out of our home right now, we would be in serious trouble and in a complete catastrophe, there is a very high risk mom and I would not make it due to our immune systems. But next year, we will be ready for it (I hope)...
You are so right. We have elderly people nex door to us, they are close to 90 years old, so We are trying to store enough to help those who would need help, but you can only do so much. I feel that every prepper can adopt just one elderly or handicapped person to help when needed, that would be a start. Please keep up videos, I learn so much from your thought and experiences. This topic hits close to home for me , I take care of my elderly Grandparents and I'm fully responsible for them in any situation. Even going without power for a few days could be catastophic for them because they both require electronic medical machines to maintain their health. If power was lost during the summer I fear it would be an automatic death sentence for my grandmother because of the sensitive nature of her breathing issues , this haunts me and i'm preparing for that situation

Im getting more concerned than ever that something is going to happen what do you think the military will do in a wrol situation ,i live within an hours drive from one of the largest military installations in the state of ga and and about 40 min of 3 small bases being former military i would like to know your opinion on what kind of role the military would play.

I personally would make sure NOW that she has survival supplies for 5 days. Let her know when SHTF that you will be at the retreat site and once everyone is accounted for and knows their jobs and positions you will make the effort to collect her and anyone else that you feel will be of benefit to the retreat. I have a few elderly women my wife knows who I know can hold the fort and take the burden off of my men and we can do what we have to do and not worry about other crap.
U do not have to be old not have support. There are so many people who have nobody to count on. Many times this is by choice and sometimes they are just outcast. Families throw out their own family cause of disagreements.
The only way to fix this system is for it to be totally destroyed and restored through Christ our soon coming King. He is our only salvation and refuge!

WE Can't have all the answers. All we can do is keep trying. I always get to a helpless point when I start thinking about my extended family. My family is quite large and spread out. Would I have to turn them away when the stuff gets bad? You can only do so much. You have done more than most and you continue to help the thousands that watch your videos. Most people will not prep. Myself and probably many others need to start helping others as much as possible now instead of waiting to late.
@Roadford01 about the kids, i don't have babies or small children yet, (kids grown) but I am prepping with them in mind, due to a 2 yr old I watch. I can't make video's, but would love seeing one with infants and children in mind. The formula doesn't last very long, the major increase in water usage, for bottles and washing cloth diapers, the amount of clothes you will need, infants will go thru at least 4 size changes in the first year alone, etc,don't forget the toys to keep them quite
America breaking up might be a good thing if liberty is what you value above all else. If you read the Federalist papers and other writings of the time you see that the framers knew a republic could only work on a relatively small scale. Many thought the size of the then 13 colonies was too large even then. Look how much bigger we are now. If the country broke up the sections could vary from anarcho-capitalism to communism and everything in between. Freedom would exist somewhere, unlike now.

I have been trying to figure out how to make this same video for a while. Thank you for doing it and not trying to push your own personal politics in the process (this is where I fell short in making the video) I lived in a third-world country for a time and am truely under the belief that Americans need to try and lower their standards of living in order to have a chance of making it through an economic melt down, but on the other hand, that will never happen.

In case of cataclysm (meteor, etc) and flooding, with an underground bunker, which oxygen generating system for the long term (6 months or so) would you use knowing electricity will be a major challenge?
I'm with you on the collapse, brother. I am also with you on helping one another. I live with three roommates in a house. We have pooled our resources to make do. I can see myself living in an intentional community, where an economy is economical. Not polluting, living off the land, and sustaining life for future generations. What an amazing time we live in!

We have raised a very dependent society of young people who are physically capable yet expect everyone else to provide for them while they contribute nothing. My 70 yrold mom is a prepper, she and my brothers fam, and sister have moved close together, for mutual protection and care, they are 25 miles from me. Im sure mom is the most prepared of them all, she saw the depression, they did not. she has skill and knowledge of gardening ,canning animal care etc etc etc. I encourage preppers to "adopt" older folks into thier wagon circle, they really have alot to offer , I also the older folks are more awake and mentally prepared for the days ahead, thanx

I am 74 yrs old and was one of those bra burners who felt so powerful I could do anything... Yeah right.. biggest mistake any of us ever made. That is unless you are a Butch Lesbian and want to be a man. Being a woman was and should still be something very special we give birth, we make homes or did. Now we just keep house mainly. I am indeed lucky, I married a younger man and he is totally dedicated to seeing I am cared for. I have one child who could care less .

Sad, I am able to still make our home and cook and love but so many have nothing other than maybe a old cat. What is the answer? Hi Southernprepper I am currently going to school to be a Pastor I am already 10 semesters into my schooling I am so lucky to be watching your videos my wife and I have 5 children between the ages of 9 1/2 and 14 my wife and I had some good talks with our children about the things to come. You had helped me understand the need to prepare my wife and I had literally spent thousands of dollars on food storage and survival gear. Keep your chin up you had done the best you could for everybody!
my uncle is heart broken over what's happening to our country he is a ww2 vet as was my dad and if he were alive today I think he would be sad about it too. I am also sure he'd be proud of what i am doing and the stance I am taking. I wish you all the best in the coming future. I might suggest that she fortify her home and save up food and water as normal, but also fortify the house a little bit at the time so she can hunker down. Elderly people on a fixed income need to think about baby steps of securing one vulnerable window at the time. We forget that some of these folks have lived through the great depression and grew up cooking on a wood stove. They have so much wisdom to share. They might also take in a renter with a preper mindset. A grandchild or something.
SP1, just the fact that you are there and teach these people may save her life. WROL may or may not happen. Her neighbor may have watched some of your videos and steps up to help her. You cannot know your impact. Keep up the good work.

I would say we have a well funded, well outfitted and well organized military. But to say overall they are great is not the case. Circle the wagons? Our military should not be spread all over the world but instead they should be here circling the wagons. Not martial law but closing the borders. Then attack the system which is oh so corrupt (THE FED).

Making the circle bigger, would need to be done with networking. Just as current preppers network, it would involve reaching out regionally, giving like minded people an opportunity to meet and discuss their needs. Such as that lady you mentioned being introduced to a local prepper, in which SHE could bring her skills, canning, medical asst., sewing etc. Prepping networks could be created regional, state, county...etc.
@Knightbrigade The only system of networking that will work must include the U.S. military ( currently working for our true enemy-the FED ). These are the entities that if not awakened to the real problem will enforce martial law. They will be confiscating guns, money, food etc.. Research what happened in N.O. after Katrina. We will also need them to fight blackwater. Without that arsenal that our taxes paid for we will certainly lose. If we dont have that arsenal it will be used against us.
You build a foundation, then you build the pillars, the roof, and then the walls. Simple formula. IMHO opinion the foundation is the same as our founding fathers used, God. If we continue to spread the word on prepping without God as the foundation we're spreading fear. Faith overcomes fear. Without it we're arming the wolves. Also a fair warning anyone saying we're still a Godly nation I suggest you read Revelations 2 and look up the doctrine of the Nicolaitans. Sound familiar? We need revival.
I hope that you some how find into your heart which I know you will, your door is open for the little old lady were were talking about. You are not going to be able save all the little old ladies in your zip code, but this one you can. You know she is a prepper, so why not combine your resources together. The answer is actually pretty clear. Don't run away. If your community is worth fighting for then fight for it. I have no intention of fleeing for the hills under almost any circumstances. And neither do most of my neighbors. We are meeting and transforming our community into something sustainable. We are adding rain catchment systems and back yard gardens and solar and wind power systems... I helped my neighbor build a chicken coop last week. My community will survive.
I dont disagree with you but I'd would submit that business is too much in our government also. The laissez faire approach still stands but many businesses dig themselves into government with lobbyists, which in turn allows the government to find footholds and use negative influence. Lobbyism should be outlawed. The voice of a company should not out way the voice of a voter.

A lot of old ladies were singing "I am woman, hear me roar" back in the 60's. They burned their bras and announced that they need a man as much as a fish needs a bicycle. They threw their husbands out the door, shattered their families and everything was great for them. .. Until they got old. Now now what's left of their families aren't cohesive enough to stick together and now they're on their own. It's sad but there isn't a heck of a lot I can do for them.
I really do understand your heartfelt concern. I'm a nurse and often times find it so sad to send elderly people home when I don't feel they can properly care for themselves or that they have to be sent to a nursing home where their freedom is stripped away, all because they have no family or family that won't chose to include them in their lives.

Being a prepper and talking to others is what will hold this country together. Change starts from the bottom up and I do see the shift in people attempting to take back responsiblity and live more out of the governments shadow. I just don't know if the movement will gather enough before the collapse completes itself. Occupy Wallstreet, regardless of their unorganized protest, was the beginning of the first wave. Change is happening, but as always, it is slow.

I don't have the answer either but; those of us who do survive a WROL situation, yet fail to protect the Widows and Orphans, what type of society does that leave us with. We need to change the prepper paradigm to include a systematic method to be inclusive to the larger community of like minded people who may not be capable to help themselves. Our prayer as preppers should be that the Lord blesses us that we may be a blessing to others. Preppers need a more organized network.

Reality check, buddy. Since the "indians" years ago didn't have much, they had very little choice. Settlers (farmers, etc) at the time were not much different. Another reason I went with the glock was weight..they are very light and easy to hide. My rifle is a 9mm as well and it also happens to take glock magazines. Made by thureon defense. I have common ammo (9mm is easy to find and cheaper than most) along with common magazines..which means no matter what magazine I have on me it will fit whatever gun is in my hand! There's my 2 cents from the female perspective. Keep up the awesome work southernprepper1 I am a huge fan and am so grateful to you!

If I may, I would like to respond to SexyWhittyKitty. I made this choice myself not too long ago. I was advised to try different guns with different calibers and figure out the highest caliber I could shoot accurately. For me that was 9mm. I chose the Glock 26 for it's simplicity...safety is in the trigger no complicated levers or switches because I am fairly certain that if I am in a situation where I need a firearm I am going to be scared out of my mind and shaking like a leaf...another reason

At this time last year, I was a healthy 30-something woman with a new hubby, living with him and my mom. Then both she and I were diagnosed with cancer. Just like that, all our plans were derailed and our priority went from prepping to getting through cancer. If we had to bug out of our home right now, we would be in serious trouble and in a complete catastrophe, there is a very high risk mom and I would not make it due to our immune systems. But next year, we will be ready for it (I hope)...

This topic hits close to home for me , I take care of my elderly Grandparents and I'm fully responsible for them in any situation. Even going without power for a few days could be catastophic for them because they both require electronic medical machines to maintain their health. If power was lost during the summer I fear it would be an automatic death sentence for my grandmother because of the sensitive nature of her breathing issues , this haunts me and i'm preparing for that situation

Where I am, it is hard to find people of like minds without running into either nut cases or plain old ignorance and resistance. I hope I can find some like-minded folks to join forces with. Im getting more concerned than ever that something is going to happen what do you think the military will do in a wrol situation ,i live within an hours drive from one of the largest military installations in the state of ga and and about 40 min of 3 small bases being former military i would like to know your opinion on what kind of role the military would play.

Think out of the box. Think like A teams in Vietnam.
They took one small village, and secured it. Then taught them to be selfsufficiant. They then helped that village to secured another village. The two villages then were to take two other villages and so on.
I hate that we will fall as a country, but it will be bad, we we will do what we can, but each of us must start locally and build from there.

I personally would make sure NOW that she has survival supplies for 5 days. Let her know when SHTF that you will be at the retreat site and once everyone is accounted for and knows their jobs and positions you will make the effort to collect her and anyone else that you feel will be of benefit to the retreat. I have a few elderly women my wife knows who I know can hold the fort and take the burden off of my men and we can do what we have to do and not worry about other crap.

WE Can't have all the answers. All we can do is keep trying. I always get to a helpless point when I start thinking about my extended family. My family is quite large and spread out. Would I have to turn them away when the stuff gets bad? You can only do so much. You have done more than most and you continue to help the thousands that watch your videos. Most people will not prep. Myself and probably many others need to start helping others as much as possible now instead of waiting to late.

@Roadford01 about the kids, i don't have babies or small children yet, (kids grown) but I am prepping with them in mind, due to a 2 yr old I watch. I can't make video's, but would love seeing one with infants and children in mind. The formula doesn't last very long, the major increase in water usage, for bottles and washing cloth diapers, the amount of clothes you will need, infants will go thru at least 4 size changes in the first year alone, etc,don't forget the toys to keep them quite

America breaking up might be a good thing if liberty is what you value above all else. If you read the Federalist papers and other writings of the time you see that the framers knew a republic could only work on a relatively small scale. Many thought the size of the then 13 colonies was too large even then. Look how much bigger we are now. If the country broke up the sections could vary from anarcho-capitalism to communism and everything in between. Freedom would exist somewhere, unlike now.

Thank you for doing it and not trying to push your own personal politics in the process (this is where I fell short in making the video) I lived in a third-world country for a time and am truely under the belief that Americans need to try and lower their standards of living in order to have a chance of making it through an economic melt down, but on the other hand, that will never happen.

Hi, I agree it is heart breaking to know how many people will suffer and die. And know we can't prepare for everyone, MY husband I are doing what we can for people we know, But I know that our friends and family have their contacts also and we can't do for all, If you ask everyone to prep they look at you as crazy paranoids. But, after a lot of these type of engagements over a long period of time, I've reached the same conclusion that you express (and I quoted).

Agreed. Guess what we used to do when a person became too weak to care for themselves in an emergency situation? WE'D TAKE CARE OF THEM. Not let them live on their own till something bad happens or lock them up in home where you don't have to do anything. That's what family is for. She needs to move in with her daughter or have her daughter move in with her. Surely something could be worked out that would benefit each other.

In case of cataclysm (meteor, etc) and flooding, with an underground bunker, which oxygen generating system for the long term (6 months or so) would you use knowing electricity will be a major challenge?

We have raised a very dependent society of young people who are physically capable yet expect everyone else to provide for them while they contribute nothing. These are the people who I worry about in a wrol situation.

My 70 yrold mom is a prepper, she and my brothers fam, and sister have moved close together, for mutual protection and care, they are 25 miles from me. Im sure mom is the most prepared of them all, she saw the depression, they did not. she has skill and knowledge of gardening ,canning animal care etc etc etc. I encourage preppers to "adopt" older folks into thier wagon circle, they really have alot to offer , I also the older folks are more awake and mentally prepared for the days ahead, thanx

I am 74 yrs old and was one of those bra burners who felt so powerful I could do anything... Yeah right.. biggest mistake any of us ever made. That is unless you are a Butch Lesbian and want to be a man. Being a woman was and should still be something very special we give birth, we make homes or did. Now we just keep house mainly. I am indeed lucky, I married a younger man and he is totally dedicated to seeing I am cared for. I have one child who could care less .

Sad, I am able to still make our home and cook and love but so many have nothing other than maybe a old cat. What is the answer? Hi Southernprepper I am currently going to school to be a Pastor I am already 10 semesters into my schooling I am so lucky to be watching your videos my wife and I have 5 children between the ages of 9 1/2 and 14 my wife and I had some good talks with our children about the things to come. You had helped me understand the need to prepare my wife and I had literally spent thousands of dollars on food storage and survival gear. my uncle is heart broken over what's happening to our country he is a ww2 vet as was my dad and if he were alive today I think he would be sad about it too. I am also sure he'd be proud of what i am doing and the stance I am taking. I wish you all the best in the coming future. I might suggest that she fortify her home and save up food and water as normal, but also fortify the house a little bit at the time so she can hunker down. Elderly people on a fixed income need to think about baby steps of securing one vulnerable window at the time. We forget that some of these folks have lived through the great depression and grew up cooking on a wood stove. They have so much wisdom to share. They might also take in a renter with a preper mindset. A grandchild or something.

Hi SP, I know you have a great understanding of what we are facing. I applaud you. But, I strongly disagree when you say we have a great military. I would say we have a well funded, well outfitted and well organized military. But to say overall they are great is not the case. Circle the wagons? Our military should not be spread all over the world but instead they should be here circling the wagons. Not martial law but closing the borders. Then attack the system which is oh so corrupt (THE FED).

Making the circle bigger, would need to be done with networking. Just as current preppers network, it would involve reaching out regionally, giving like minded people an opportunity to meet and discuss their needs. Such as that lady you mentioned being introduced to a local prepper, in which SHE could bring her skills, canning, medical asst., sewing etc. Prepping networks could be created regional, state, county...etc.

@Knightbrigade The only system of networking that will work must include the U.S. military ( currently working for our true enemy-the FED ). These are the entities that if not awakened to the real problem will enforce martial law. They will be confiscating guns, money, food etc.. Research what happened in N.O. after Katrina. We will also need them to fight blackwater. Without that arsenal that our taxes paid for we will certainly lose. If we dont have that arsenal it will be used against us.

If each capable group would extend their prepping to include one or more individuals, many more would be rescued. I have read on many forums that the only people that this group or that group will accept will be those that can offer some skill in return. Many of the elderly have a wisdom that only comes with experience. Chances are, the value of such individuals would be great in a WROL. Also, the RIGHT thing to do is to prep for more than just yourself. Moral and right. Great video as usual!

The answer is actually pretty clear. Don't run away. If your community is worth fighting for then fight for it. I have no intention of fleeing for the hills under almost any circumstances. And neither do most of my neighbors. We are meeting and transforming our community into something sustainable. We are adding rain catchment systems and back yard gardens and solar and wind power systems... I helped my neighbor build a chicken coop last week. My community will survive.

The laissez faire approach still stands but many businesses dig themselves into government with lobbyists, which in turn allows the government to find footholds and use negative influence. A lot of old ladies were singing "I am woman, hear me roar" back in the 60's. They burned their bras and announced that they need a man as much as a fish needs a bicycle. They threw their husbands out the door, shattered their families and everything was great for them. .. Until they got old. Now now what's left of their families aren't cohesive enough to stick together and now they're on their own. It's sad but there isn't a heck of a lot I can do for them.
