uh....turns out you 'don't know anything about tennis', tool...Nadal is guaranteed the #1 spot by Aug. 18th. Get your facts straight before you make fun of others for something you don't even know about.
Points are only accumulated over the last twelve months. By the season's end, all of your points must have been accumulated within the current season. Therefore if anyone has a better season than Federer, which so Far Roddick, Nadal and Djokovic all are, he will not finish year end #1.
If in your scenario Nadal wins the next six majors, not only would he have nine slams, but would be at least 2,000 points ahead of Federer and possibly considered the greatest of all time. But that won't happen.

well clearly we see that you were right.
I knew Federer wasn't going to hold the #1 ranking for much longer after 2007, because of one reason:
Nadal improved his backhand. Because Nadal's backhand is now as good as his forehand, Federer is now clearly 2nd best to him. Federer's one-handed backhand will now always be the SOLE thing that hurts him against Nadal. Federer's forehand is still somewhat better than Nadal's, but the problem is how much better Nadal's backhand is than his.
Holy Shit Ur Face.Thats What You Call Topspin Lob.Djokovic Volleys So He Makes The Ball High(Including Topspin)So Still The Ball Go Inside. He Used It So Djokovic Must Run Back To Hit That Ball.
Roddick definitely had a solid week for his confidence to beat Nadal and Djokovic. However, can Roddick beat these guys in a grand slam in a best of five set match? I wonder? All I know is Roddick has a lot to prove there are other players such as David Nalbandian and David Ferrer they can destroy Roddick on the hardcourts. Ferrer and Nalbandian have excellent return of serves. If James Blake ever got some confidence and self esteem maybe he could be a champion too perhaps?
no lie, this is a good win for roddick, but there still is a problem: where is has the ability to beat djokovic and nadal who are tp players, there are still a number of players ranked well below him, who on a given day will beat him, which makes winning 7 str8 matches in a grand slam extremely difficult for him. he just doesnt find a way when he's having a bad day. and lets not even mention federer!!
Let's give a clap to these people who've worked their asses off till the last second and stop saying crap about different players when we know that all we should be doing is applauding their tremendous superhuman effort.
u obviously dont kno tennis at all becuz in tennis a players serve is his primary weapon so maybe u shud do some research before insulting ppl who r ten times better than you are
okay obiously he doesnt choke providing the multiple finals at wimbledon and his crown at the us open in 2003. he is simply outplayed. starting in the 3rd round of majors basically all players now have a better ground game than he. also, this isnt a small tourney, its a $1,000,000 international gold series tourney, which is the third largest. its alloted ranking points are 300 which is about a third of that of a major
in actuality, he will be lucky to break inside the top five considering he already won the tournament and the new rankings come out on monday. hes about 4000 points from the number one position. federer, nadal, and djokovic wouldnt be able to win another match the remainder of the year and the first half of 2009 and roddick would have to be holding all four majors at the time.
Kind of ironic that Novak would be eliminated not long after remarking that Fed is getting easier to beat ... and by a player that Fed owns, no less. Very happy to see Roddick take him down a peg. Great Tennis.
I think this is the best Roddick has played in about four years almost five. Roddick has rarely ever beaten the best players back to back. But I don't think people should read too much into this. Roddick has to prove he can beat the best in a grand slam then he has comeback. But the results are of course positive for his confidence.
I think this is even more impressive that Nadal beat Djokovic because Djokovic is a superior hard court player then Nadal. I am not surprised Roddick beat Nadal because everyone is beating Nadal on hardcourts. However, I am stunned that Roddick beat Djokovic. I also believe this is the best Roddick has played in the last five years since he won the US OPEN in 2003.
not really, Rodick's best surface is hard court, even though he is great on grass (but grass season is so much smaller than the hardcourt anyways). I'm not surprised, Rodick is excellent player, Novak hardly beat him in Montreal last year. The great thing about Novak is that he can beat anyone, on any surface, making tennis extremely interesting to watch. I believe if Nadal does not wake up soon, that his dominance on the clay is doomed.
that curving down-the-line passing shot on the run is a federer move; i didn't know roddick could do that. hopefully he keeps this up. sweet match thanx for the post!

Great work Andy, the point that starts around 2:10 and ends with the running forehand pass is a shoe-in for M-B Play of the Week.

it's nice seeing Roddick having some success; it mildly compensates for Federer's unfortunate early exits.

Roddick's hitting a lot like Robby Ginepri on the forehand side now with that overused buggy-whip.
