Okay, I figured it out.

In order to properly perform this jailbreak, you have to restore it to it's factory settings and update the phone to 3.1.2. That means you will lose ALL of your data.

Which means, if you've spent months and months upon months accumulating data; pictures, music, apps, even your contacts and text messages, you will lose it ALL.

Unless you have a brand new phone, this jailbreak is fucking worthless garbage, and you all can go fuck yourselves.

I think blackra1n just now bricked my phone. It has outstanding reviews and I'm sure it works great for most people, but my phone's been stuck in recovery mode for about fifteen minutes now and I'm afraid to unplug it but I have to get to class. Thing is, I'm also afraid to just leave it stuck. WTF.

I just upgraded to 3.1.2 for MMS, universal search, and landscape view in texts. Now I have to unbrick it, and try this shit again. Until then, it looks like I've got a $600 paperweight.

Follow the instructions on my website you will not have any problems. There is a video that explains it all. You have to restore the iphone to 3.1.2 then use the blackra1n program. Make sure the usb cable for the iphone is connected directly to the computer and not to a USB hub.

It will not brick your iphone. Just reboot it and it will be fine. I had a similar issue and once I did it the way the video mentions and connected the cable directly to a USB port on the pc it worked. Best of luck

I downloaded the firmware and put it in DFU mode and as soon as I hit the shift key to put in the custom restore for 3.1 iphone it acted like it was going to work, but then out of nowhere a error 1600 wont let me finish the restore. I need help what do I do????

so to start i was on 3.1 and itunes 9 before my 1st jailbreak. using redsnow i jailbroke my 3g to 3.0 I've installed a few apps and also sync and have successfully used my original app store apps. so using i itunes restore and the custom 3.1 i get errors. so i let itunes restore my 3g to non jailbreak 3.1 now after 2 restores my apps crash. all i can use is mail,app store and the oem 3g apps. any suggestions?

if i wanted to upgrade to 3.1

can i restored back first n than upgrade to 3.1?

after that will allow me to jailbreak it again or will it lock on me.
