We can, quite rightly in my opinion, of concentrating on Onegin, to a lesser extent on the Queen of Spades, overlooking this obscure opera, missing out on some of the finest of arias

concealed within, and missing many of the excellent talents circulating in the opera houses of

Russia. Still, we ahould be grateful for small mercies.

I'm not normally someone who cares to hark back to the voices of the past - I prefer to move on and look to the future of opera. I have to say however, that, having found this recording quite by chance, it is certainly worth listening to. Magnificent !!
