@akacopycat I'd imagine it has to do with the hunting instinct in dogs. Most dogs were bred to hunt animals. Therefore, when they see a squirrel, that instinct is triggered. It doesn't have to be a squirrel, though. It could also be triggered by a bunny or a bird. That's a total guess, but it does make sense, to me at least.

LOL! Our cats watch out the window at the squirrels. I never minded squirrels until this year when they took a whole lot of good apples off our trees. I wouldn't mind that so much, but they take a bite out of one and they're on to the next one. I've seen where they've eaten about half an apple. The apple tree is about 20 years old and got apples on it for the first time - EVER!
