This actually made me cry. Axel was (and still is) my favorite KH character. He went through hell for his friends only to die to see a friend who he would never see again afterward! One thing that makes me feel better, is knowing that Axel IS alive. Namine said that when a Nobody dies, they wander in darkness until their Heartless is killed and they find their heart. Well, in CoM Axel was starting to feel again, so maybe he found his heart. His Heartless should be long gone as well, so YAY!

I think the saddest thing about this thing is how Axel couldn't care less about his own death. He just makes jokes about his own race, like "My heart just wouldn't be in it, you know? Haven't got one.", you see him laughing, but the player is emotional.

Kingdom Hearts 2 has the most.. emotional writing, well acted, and creative ingenuity of any video game in the world. This scene is so bitter sweet and confusing, but sad at the same time. I notice when I play through the Kingdom Hearts story, 2 especially, I always wind up having feelings I can't quite understand. It's ambiguous and in a cryptic way, comforting. Even the short title screen song of the game gives me that vibe.

It's a vague sense of empathy one can't quite discern. It might not have a very complex or indulging story, but it gives you complicated feelings rather than complicated thoughts. That's special, and something I've never seen even from games better written.
