Here's the story....it's a Friday night, October, 1986....the next morning I'm heading out from my home in West Virginia to drive straight down to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to take a one week crash review course for the CPA exam at the University of Alabama. Anyway, I'm lamenting to the young lass at the record store in the mall that Friday night that "there aren't any southern rock bands anymore". She says, "Well, you might like this new album we just got in from this new band The GA Satellites
@WVFreebyrd I listen to one song...buy the cassette.......I literally listend to that tape all the way from West Virginia to Alabama the next day over and over.....good times....anytime I hear this song I remember that road trip......(by the way, passed the last part of my CPA exam two weeks later with a score of 96 on Business Law...Roll Tide and The Georgia Satellites !!)
There just never seems to be enough rockabilly period. You'd think the success musical acts like Elvis, Skinnard, Allman Brothers and heck even the Stones would have encouraged more artists and more listeners to get into this type of music.
Everything about this song is great..So many memories - thanks for uploading it..To cute..I had a friend call me today to tell me she was on a road trip and heard it and just couldn't stop thinking about me..and our old days..Felt good to hear this song again and again..Enjoy..........
@DrGero15 You must be quite young. The lyrics are, "...she told me a story about free milk and a cow...". How do I know this? Because of the old saying, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?"
I saw the sats many times over here in England. I still have one of Dan's top guitar strings from his old red guitar and a drum stick from Mauro on the salvation and sin tour... Good music..
