I really like this version. I had a cassette tape that I made off of the LP from a friend. It was an early 1960's concert that was recorded live on RCA Records in Longbeach California. The famous one where a baby starts crying when JD is going down into his low bass part, and he says Bless it's heart. After the song is over, they're talking and joking about the baby crying, and JD says I thought it was a baby, but it was Big Chief.
@burberry998 I have about 20 Blackwoods LP's from the 60's and 70's and this song is on "The Old Country Church", not the album where the baby cries. That was on the album "Featuring J.D. Sumner" in the song "There's a Light". Both albums were recorded live at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium as well as a Statesman Quartet album.
I was a teenager the first time I heard this song on the old 8-track tape being played in my car. The Spirit moved me when I listened to Mr. Bill Shaw singing those high notes on "I'm Redeemed," that I nearly stood up in the car, and I was DRIVING it at the time!! An incredible moment and I followed the Blackwood Brothers Quartet for years just to hear Bill Shaw in person!! He is going on 86 and still performs and blesses audiences everywhere with his powerful and God-given voice. Amen!
Wow. I grew up listening to Gospel quartets every Sunday morning in the 1950s.......the Blackwoods, the Cathedrals, the Happay Goodman Family, the Chuck Wagon Gang, AND the Lewis Family, and the list goes on and on. They all left an imdelible impression on my life. i wish i could find the original Blackwood Bros. singing "Walk, Talk, Sing, and Shout!" does anyone remember that??
@MinstrelBoy54 They can’t all be your uncles. Bill Shaw and JD Sumner aren’t related to anyone else in the quartet, and Cecil and James aren’t brothers.
I was to many a concert where they would finish with this and all the Quartets on the program would come out and join them for a great finish! J.D. Sumner wrote a Classic with this one!
I found this video for sale on Ebay a while back. It was on a VHS tape. I have no idea where the video clips came from other than it was marked as "Lost episodes of the Blackwoods". The audo quality is a bit poor but quite a treasure for those as myself that love SGM from the 60's.

"Oh my Lord what a Time!" and Walk, Talk, Sing, and Shout is the chorus. I can ask my grandmother, her father was a brother to James Blackwood.
