@dereckvon blimey O'Riley...on his IC label, uses some similar graphics to his album DIG-IT another fine album but on BRAIN (great use taped drum loops on that LP...almost funky in places....well, make that funky for Klaus anyway)
@dereckvon I love it...just two side long tracks, both with Michael Shrieve (electronic drums) and Wolfgang Tiedpol (Cello), Klaus uses his Crumar GDS (then a brand new computer synth...a tad like the CMI Fairlight or NED Synclavier) to mirror the live Cello playing. Love the opening choral chords as well.
@dereckvon really? strange...excellent album IMHO, although some KS fan boys get out of their collective pram and start shouting that he ruined things.
@DocStrangelyStrange Kraftwerk and DP in the same sentence...there are certain words that should never appear together....like intelligent and MP or moral and banker ;)
@wertsdb71 oh and I can recommend X (ten) by Schulze, I only rate two tracks on the double album, but you might like the more orchestral track on it as well
@24db good analogy, andy. truly, this is a new name for me but i'll let you know what i learn and will listen to the music too. i'm lovin this education!
I thought the 'Identity' LP cover looked like the movie bill for 'Fear an Loathing in Las Vegas'. I guess with the review that you just gave this record it is one that indeed needs to be listened to.
It is great to hear your talk about seeing Kraftwerk live. I can see that you loved the Tangerine Dream shows that you saw and you were lucky to see them at that time. Excellent hearing you~
@Paneeks1960 AUDENTITY dude...it's probably not your cup of tea Rob...I think you'd like the ROCK side of KRAUTOCK more...Amon Duul, Can, Mythos, Agitation Free, Ash Ra Tempel, Faust etc etc. At a guess 85% of all Krautrock would fall into this, the other 15% being the more electronic side and perhaps some folk. It's a daft catch-all genre really, with people not included who should be and music included that had nothing to do with it.
Thanks for clearing that up for me Andy. It was a good percentage breakdown on Krautrock and I enjoyed learning that. You know your music and that is for sure~
@Paneeks1960 well TD have done the odd terrible gig as well...including the worst gig I've ever been to, but hey if you don't go to the gigs you'll never know
BTW I'll be re-doing my KRAFTWERK pt 1 video....it needs a different tone...e flat perhaps? ;) seriously though I need to include the vinyl as well

@24db I do have Dig It and yes it's funky for Klaus. I take it Trancefer is worth seeking out?

@24db Ah side one has one of the best key-changes in all of electronic music, mind you have to wait bloody 20 minutes for it ;)

Maybe Kraftwerk should do the same as Deep Purple. Then people could argue;
"I think Kraftwerk Mk 2 is best"
"I'm sure you mean Kraftwerk 3.5!" etc etc

@stephievon come on Steph, checkout one of the early sources of dance music...a sort of yin to James Brown's yang perhaps?

@24db Isn't it amazing to think I've been playing Kraftwerk since the 70's and my sister is still oblivious!

PBS! One of the 2 main non-commercial radio stations here in Melbourne. I was once a guest Dj on PBS (one of my mates had a weekly show).
