In the novel, "In This House of Brede", a Benedictine nun laments changes that have taken place in her order, saying, "We now do the work of laymen. Perhaps one day, laymen will turn to the work of contemplation." After Vatican II, the Church effectively stopped using the music that we hear in this video. Monks in a local Cistercian abbey had folk masses! Wonderful to see that lay people are instrumental in bringing back an appreciation for this chant, so fitting for worship.
