i think it had to do with Lexi still being in love with peter and how she wouldnt stop getting in the middle of his marriage to Eve. She also blackmailed Eve about her past i think.

It was because Lexi saw the Christmas tree selling scumbag proposition her, and approached to him find out he was a a guard who knew Eve from her time in prison for killing that kid that attacked Amanda in high school, and this attack on Lexi was her way of trying to intimidate her into keeping it a secret from Peter.
