It is far more reasonable to believe in the beginning eternal God.Then it is for me to believe in a cosmic accident . The bottom line through my experience hundred times hundred times in my life . Order and design point to and intelligent mind. through my experience in life hundred times hundred times everything that has a beggining has a cause.Give me one example where something had a beggining that didnt have a cause one example?
The scientific evidence is now overwhelming that the Universe began with a "Big Bang" ~15 billion (15,000,000,000 or 15E9) years ago." "The Big Bang theory is the most widely accepted theory of the creation of the Universe." Dr. van der Pluijm, University of Michigan
Together with Roger Penrose, I developed a new set of mathematical techniques, for dealing with this and similar problems. We showed that if General Relativity was correct, any reasonable model of the universe must start with a singularity. This would mean that science could predict that the universe must have had a beginning, but that it could not predict how the universe should begin: for that one would have to appeal to God." Stephen W. Hawking "Origin of the Universe" lecture
Well if you put it in a creationist way such as you have then yes it is silly and proves you have no idea about evolution, cosmology and plain old common sense about any of these theories.
Your comment doesn't make you look clever just ignorant about what you're talking about.
But the earth being created in 6 days and a giant flood where a boat saved two of every species today makes perfect sense.
I have no idea about evolution ok lets keep it simple here . Most scientist will agree that the universe had a beginning . the atompshere in the universe is decreasing . Back in the day the scientist use to believe the universe was eternal they abandon that idea awhile ago even your great Guru Richard dawkins would agree with that.If you want a reference i will supply it for you. So if the earth had a beginning then something came from nothing and the big bang produce everything. We came nothing
The conclusion of this lecture is that the universe has not existed forever. Rather, the universe, and time itself, had a beginning in the Big Bang, about 15 billion years ago." Stephen Hawking The Beginning of Time
"Scientists generally agree that "the Big Bang" birthed the universe about 15 billion years ago." Tom Parisi, Northern Illinois University
Would you accept evidence that Jesus Christ is God? Touch the wounds in hands? The Bible my friend is proof. No it's not circular logic because the Bible is not one book written by one person. Jesus said, "all the scriptures (Old Testament) testify of me." Big words agreed? Well it's true, Isaac is a prophecy of Jesus. Isaac a miraculous birth, symbolically sacrificed, read it Genesis 22 1:19. Joseph betrayed for silver becomes a savior Genesis 37-50 read it. Moses, Joshua, Jonah et all.
really this cant be told universally - the answer depends on your relatives: perhaps you are going to be enter a shiny little oven, perhaps you are fed to grubs...
you seem like a nice guy and i can definitely see your point about organized religion.i also wondered if all religions say they are right but disagree than doesn't that mean they are all wrong?i do believe in god but church almost turned me away as well.since you don't believe i figure it can't hurt.god bless you and your family.
excellent point, another question I have is if we evolved from one strand of D.N.A. along with all these other creatures we know of why are humans the only ones that ended up with the intelligence to figure out where we came from? why not our alleged close relatives, the primates? or should I just say monkeys so as not to confuse anyone.
the fact that a non-christian historian, who spends his life considering historical facts should affirm the reality of Christs existence as well as the rapid growth of the early movement is pretty profound.
and again,"that a few simple men should in one generation have invented so powerful and appealing a personality, so lofty an ethic and so inspiring a vision of human brotherhood, would be a miracle far more incredible than any recorded in the gospels."(Ibid,p.557)
popular historian Will Durant (not a christian) wrote concerning Christs validity, "the denial of that existence seems never to have occured even to the bitterest gentile or jewish opponents of nascent christianity." (Durant, the story of civilization, vol.3, p.555)
What turned me away from the Catholic Church are varied. One of them was because of the nuns that taught me. They were mean, very much like the school masters in Charles Dickens' books.
I went to a lutheran school, you know, catholic light(also), I didn't become an atheist, i turned pagan. Yeah, some things I believe are probably insane, but I won't be killing anybody for my religion, and hell, drinking wine, dancing around fires, and shit like that is fun at any rate
Yeah I have said before that Ahteism is something you come to on your own, but I never criticize people that don't deserve it. Though I am rethinking that since it never helps to be too confrontational.
Besides if it makes you happy and your not forcing your views on anyone nor hurting anyone have at it and enjoy.
yeah, exactly, I see it as, I can enjoy my craziness if you will, as long as it hurts no one, I actually agree that government should stay seperate from religion, and all that fun stuff,
however, all of the religions that make you follow them because of fear are incredibly dangerous...
That's the fuck of not being christian, muslim, or jewish. They pull the evil card, because, without God, there's no morals, in their view at least. It's funny, most people who don't follow, "the big 3" have a better sense of reality, at least, in a moral standpoint. There's something about evolving ideas, that scares people with old, "holy" books.
Well, is doing the right thing out of fear of God, really doing the right thing with the right intentions? Hell no. lol At the least, their view of God is like a freaking supervisor at work...if there is a god, he's definitely like a guy playing simcity...he may know what's going on, but hell, lets see what happens when he puts the speed on "african swallow"

if atheist believe
that there was a big bang 20 billion years ago where nothing exploded in
everything then the earth cooled down produce a hard rocky crust and it rain
for millions of years on the rocks and the rocks turn into soup . The soup
found somethng to eat and something to marry and in evovled into everything
today. Now that is silly to believe nothing exploded into something and we
came from rocks. That is the biggest fairy tale and hoax ever .Alot of faith to believe that

What do those questions have to do with evolution... nothing.
There is no atmosphere in space, its a vacuum.
For the record, Carl Sagan would be more of a guru to me. Theists are more hung up on Dawkins than any atheists I know.
You should really look up the scientific method, you might get a clue on why scientists change their minds.
You argue with no clue to what you're saying, honestly its pointless, annoying and only serves to add to the stereotype of theists as ignorant.

There is a difference between existing and being who he is. George Washington existed. Could he fly? Probably not. Legend VS Truth my friend. :D
