Cairne's death was one of the saddest moments in the history of Warcraft IMO. He was one of my favorite characters, along with Thrall and Vol'Jin, for their honorful ways and yet love for their people and their allies. Fortunately, Baine is also a great leader, and we will see more from him.

His disposition is both xenophobic and elitist, combined with disdain for the more cerebral and spiritual aspect of conflicts. He had no experience in politics or history of Tauren conflict. He's just a big, prideful, heavy-handed dupe. Willing to do anything to prove the Hellscream name is redeemed.

This is actually kind of cool! The only beef I have with it is the battle scene at the end. In the book, Cairne was winning the match. Then Garrosh broke the rune spear, and the poison that Magatha Grimtotem had secreted onto Gorehowl (Garrosh's family war axe, for the lore-challenged) incapacitated Cairne. In the movie, despite the green glow, it appears that Cairne died after taking just one good hit.

To add to the storyline for those who didn't know. In the Book The Shattering, Cairne was kicking the crap out of Garrosh. When Garrosh did his final blow it was a glancing blow that barely scratched Cairne. The Weapon was coated with poison by the Grim totem Agatha who wanted Cairne's demise. So Cairne was paralyzed when the killing blow fell.

If you read the book The Shattering from Cristie Golden, the orcs that killed the druids were part of the Twilight's hammer in an effort to create even more hatred between the horde and alliance.
