  • Great stuff, love the sound and this is a great video. Thanks for the time and energy, appreciated big time.

  • sounds great! How do I add reverb for the samples from Ultrabeat?

  • I would owe you big time if you showed me how you have your POD XT set up. I use a Mobile Firestudio currently with just Logic's virtual amps tweaked.

  • good stuff

  • cool video and that song sounds fat!

  • great video

  • good! blackout is ahb1 or ahb2?

  • @agitator82 blackouts 2, basically the same as ahb1 with a rewired eq design, little higher gain.... and higher price tag

  • Comment removed

  • and 81 to the neck combined with ahb2 how it behaves? (you used the switch in loud or louder ahb2?)

    however very good sound!

  • @agitator82 works good..... the blackouts have crazy output too.... i have to have the noise gate on my pod maxed and i still get crazy response as well, i have no switches installed just straight wired to the guitar and a battery.

  • Sounds nice. So those drum samples already come processed? You can just load them in Ultrabeat, and that's all? So do you use POD Farm, or just the POD XT Hardware? I think your video shows how to make great quality metal, with the easiest steps. Kinda like the path of least resistance!

  • @angelofshred yup, just load the samples in ultrabeat and plug pod xt into the computer.... go to audio settings and change it so my input settings are set pod xt instead of default.... and then click low latency button on the bottom right as usb is fairly latent and low latency makes it flawless

  • @soilworker2099 hmmm.. Where are the Tom-Toms though : ( ...

  • @Lennylyrical pretty much the guitar tracks all get eq'd and levelled at the pod level, no distortions added to the track or anything from logic... only thing logic did was pan the tracks, the signal coming in was pretty close to clipping on the heavy palm muting, infact 1 in 10 may have a marginal clip in the signal.

But I use all pod for my distortion, then i just take the tracks and raise them in the mix until it sounds the way i like, but i make sure i have the mastering on when i mix

  • @soilworker2099 thank you very helpfull! I just love the full sound of the guitar, but you probably created that at POD level!

  • Brilliant, how loud is the input signal for the guitar, and do u use the distortion from logic, or the distortion from the line 6 pod?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks man.

  • Well sick bro, like your panning techniques

  • awesome video. thank you very much.

  • thats a bitching lead tone man, how did you record it in?

  • @HoochE55 usb from the pod into logic as a signal chain, pretty much a patch i made while comparing to jeff loomis of nevermore

  • ur an awesome maaaan u damn rock \m/

    ive a Q !!?

which logics amp & effect u used 4 guitar

    thx

  • @AbadYdYoichi i use a few patches i have created on my own, while listening to nevermore and thought to myself "jeff's got some pretty thick guitar tracks, im going to try and make a patch which is close to it, this one wasnt it yet i liked the result"

  • I have a question, did you use the line 6 pod on its own, without an amp when you were recording...?

  • @Pandemic16 yuppers.... just opened up my rec. program, and plugged my pod in through the usb port on my mac and into the back of the pod

  • so if i get this can i use my ux2 and podfarm to do guitars?

  • thumbs up!! ever tried addictive drums or superior drummer? awesome software!!! may suit you just right...

  • @paulsenification superior drummer i do use sometimes as well, but i find its kinda glitchy for logic for some reason i miss hits every once and a while when i use it i dont know why

  • Fucking amazing! My band has been struggling to get a good sound in our home recordings ,but now we sound brutal both live and on record. Thanks bro!

  • hey dude do you think you could do a video tutorial on how to get a good metal guitar tone like what amps you use in logic and such. Thats if you if you record your guitars straight into an interface of do you actually mic up an amp ? :)

  • @Biglll1234 pod xt is my "amp" in these vids but you can also use the free amp sims out there with a cab simulator... look up "lecto king of amp sims" by fearcomplexmusic he has a good vid on it.... and same for amplitube metal and peavy revalver... both sound great too

  • @Biglll1234 yeah ill post a vid soon...

  • @soilworker2099 When is it coming? I need it BAAAD i have a pod xt live... But all my recordings in logic pro 9 sounds so thin and digital and yours sounds soo nice. btw i dont have Metal Shop Add-on. Please post it soon i need it:P

  • do you know any good FREE recording/mixing programs like this one?

  • Great Vid! hey in Drum Replacement how can I load my own snare sample? I've tried to load it from the media browser and it just won't do it I guess I'm doing something wrong. I tried different sample rates and it just won't do it, I usually record at 96k

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Love the video, very helpful! I just got a copy of beta monkey drums because I liked how these sounded... quick question though: when you are uploading the sample files into Ultrabeat, what do you do with the rest of the nonsense that actually is the Ultrabeat drum machine? (ie, osc 1, osc 2, noise, LFO, envelope, etc) More focused: Is there a way to upload the samples and have them sound just as good as if you were playing the samples in iTunes?

    I'd really appreciate your help!

  • @riseagainstfan12 easiest way is to select one of the pre-programed kits from the drop down, like the studio tight kit... then just replace the samples with the ones you want to use by selecting the drum on the left, and replace it by clicking the little down arrow on top the sample button then load a new sample it takes all the guess work away

  • @riseagainstfan12 yeah there is.... ill make a vid on how to do it

  • do you think you could email me the bass preset please?

  • @kieranblacker yeah i just got back ive been away for a bit, send me a message with your email, ill send you it.

  • how did you get Beta Monkey Double bass Mania II. or how do i get myself a nice metal set?

  • @StillxDreamxOfxU i was looking for some decent samples to use in metal and i read in a forum somewhere about them actually about the "double bass mania" the original and listened to the samples from beta monkey webspace... liked it and bought it from a local musical instrument store

  • Hey man, this is a great tutorial, I always passed on ultrabeat because of all the dance/techno presets but I will defo try importing samples. I also never tried the mastering presets either, must try them out.

Do you record 4 separate guitar takes? and do you EQ/use any effects on the guitars or do you do all the editing on your pod xt before you record?

  • @drawnacrol yup, i took 4 seperate takes on them, recorded all the tracks independently and all of my eq is done before the mix, all dry except for the final track mastering, which from the multipressor changes the eq a tiny bit but other than that guitars are all just recorded direct with no mods.

  • @soilworker2099 or i should say my eq is done before i even record... its only eq'd on the pod xt

  • awesome tutorial! THX very much!

  • @breakashkid @thelosttrain no problem man, its just some things ive stumbled across on my own as all of the demos ive seen were pretty much useless to me cause nobody does metal instructions and a bunch of people have asked what settings ive used and how i recorded so i made a vid, hope it helped

  • Hey bro thanks for the tips and trick. love the song
