kiloah92 Do you keep your drivers up to date? The latest version for the X1550 is Catalyst 10.2 (2/24/10), may help with performance. This driver can be obtained from the ATi Website.
Why is this thumbed down? This is actually easily possible. It's just that on reviews like PC Gamer and such put the AA up and use maximum resolutions.
@StopMotionMind ill talk about mine lol, ive got a crappy dell dimension E310 with this card only for simple graphic arts use, ur ones of those nerdy guys that spends hundreds of dollars to have a "top quality" computer for those games that get old after a month
@vickfan24707 The computer you bought was old even 5 years ago.
I built my desktop maybe 2 or 3 years ago, and it's still MUCH more powerful than most of what I see.
One computer is mainly used for graphics design, and CAD, which requires some power with loading up some models and editing them. The other (my notebook) is for gaming, and I'm sure it will stay ahead of the curve for at least another 3 or 4 years.
@StopMotionMind who cares? that such a waste of money lol. my computer runs all the graphic arts programs i use in college at a very fast speed lol. who spends that much one a fucking computer. theres so many better things u can do with that money
saying this is bad? I used to play all my games at 13fps with my old comp, was fine to me and now i use an ATI 4870 games at 30fps+, don't complain about 20fps :P
No, it's where your notebook will allocate some of your computer RAM (Random Access Memory) to be dedicated as VRAM (Video Random Access Memory).
However it is slower and in-efficient in comparison to speedy dedicated VRAM, some Video cards might use system memory as it's VRAM, others might have Dedicated VRAM, and others may use a mix of both, always best to have dedicated though.
well it might be playable on xp, but to tell u the truth it will be very laggy on low, u might want to move up to the hd 2400pro which is on pci that would make it fairly playable on low or medium. everything else is fine
thas where ur wrong :), not RAM at all! its bottlenecking, u have to overclock ur cpu, go to like 3.2GHz and u should be fine, ull see a hue performance increase
i got a 8800 gtx, 4 gig ram, e6850 3ghz processor and vista 64-bit and im playing 1680x1050 at medium, i can run at very high, but this game is much nicer when you play at medium with 50 fps instead of playing with 20 fps on very high
Thats why u can go to hell, ATI are way down compared to nVidia right now, i used to be an ATI man, but nVidia just has that edge right now, besides this game was made for nVidia cards.
I have a really similar setup to you except i have an E8200 CPU at 3Ghz Overclocked, i play at mostly high, some on very high, with the ultimate graphics mod no problems, around 30fps. Fiddle with your settings, i'm sure you could achieve similar, remember to update ur card drivers.

I heard something about overlocking a graphic card but, i heard is dangerous..so im confused! Dont know how to do that! all the tutorials are in english(i speak spanish) so ..:(.:) I need a lil help here...please!
ok my pc at the minute is an athlon x2 4000 at 2.5ghz, 2gb ram and an 8500gt. i can barely play medium low. im upgrading to a zotac 8800gt. cant wait to get it

Max settings at 1440x900 with fps? Unless your talking about peak fps keep dreaming my friend. There is no way in hell you will ever run very high at a steady 50fps. Many of the custom maps and some of the single player and multiplayer maps will NOT run anywhere near that simply because of poor optimization on behalf of Crytek. Majority of the performance problems stem from the vegetation occlusion and draw distance ratios.
also...since its agp...might as well get something better!!...for like 30 bux more i gurantee u can find much better cards, i udn recomend this one cz its kinda outdated!
That card is significantly outdated for todays standard. If you're still under AGP you will find yourself better off with a 780G-motherboard + HD3450 in Hybrid Crossfire (~$125) where the On-Board VGA works in Crossfire with the cheap and passive-cooled videocard to give a ideal budget performance way over this.
well it's a Q6600 2.4Ghz with 4 gigs of RAM. i can get an average of 25fps on high with no aa and apparently alot of people experience this with their systems as well. if you want to run crysis with at least 40fps with aa you need two cards + good processor and ram.
Not true. Most importantly: CryEngine 2 is next to totally GPU-dependent. Meaning a super-powerful CPU will be excessively bottlenecked by a mainstream GPU. A Dual-Core processor of todays mainstream segment and decent-timed memory (2048MB) is more than enough for CryEngine 2 as long as the GPU is strong - talking about 2900XT (HD3870), 8800GT(X) and beyond. Especially when this game will never utilize four cores more than it would during a Dual-Core operation.
I got 40FPS average on 2900XT, AMD Athlon X2 6000+ and 2048MB CL4 memory at 850mhz. That on the awesome 1024x840... nothing to brag about here neither, since it's such a GPU-depending pile of poo. Perhaps when AMD Tessalation-unit is utilized we'll see solid performance at all.
Is the lag cuz of your recording program or wtf ?
I am playing on medium with high quality for water and textures 800x600

make sure to overclock it using ATITool!
also...since its agp...might as well get something better!!...for like 30 bux more i gurantee u can find much better cards, i udn recomend this one cz its kinda outdated!

Eh, I just want a card that is decent, and inexpensive. I will research overclocking though...

trust me...u can get way better for like the same price, also check if u have PCIE

Borka speaks 100% truth.
