Must say, none of the illustrative carving books that I've come across benefit as much as any of these videos with Gene Webb. Thanks Gene for sharing your gift.
I've been really stuck on eyes, this is really helpful, and you make it look so easy...I have a sneaking suspicion that it's not though.. Will give it a go this evening. Thanks.
@countryboygenewebb Calling would be great but I'm in England! I have followed your instructions and now have two carved eyes, they don't look bad either. My next wood spirit can have decent eyes, I'm well chuffed, cheers.
@Downsouth49er Blanks are a good way to go. I also have lots of roughouts, that makes it alot easery for beginners. If I can help feel free to give me a call at 865-660-1110. thanks , Gene
what kind of wood are you using? I am 15 and just got my first wood carving set... 11 diffferent tools. I have no idea what the tools are for, or how to use them. Any tips you have would be wonderful :)
gene, awe inspiring ! You give me goose bumps with your talent,I want to be you when I grow up,what tool and bit did you use on your rough out power carving of the spirit?
