  • This is the first thing I've ever saw/ listened to from this group. I gotta say, I think I'm about to be on a binge of their music!

  • Hermoso, magistral no hay palabras.

  • 13 DISLIKES? WTF?

  • i dont know what they were singing about but it was mesmerising

  • Before just now I had never listened to Sigur Ros. My life has now been changed forever.

  • rou reynolds brought me here

  • "I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away" my thoughts exactly

  • 5:10 something pissed him off...

  • Sheer brilliance. p.s. The kids in the choir look like they go to Hogwarts.

  • This is one bands music who I'd never, ever not support. Such a shame, the emotions they convey, the entire world could not feel. I've been consider "bipolar" for many years. This music seriously has changed my life.

    Thank you, Sigur.

  • 12 people don't know anything about music, lamentably...

  • dont understand a word, but it's so beautiful:')

  • OMG!!! is awesome, is beautiful

  • you mean cliche... but i know what you mean,.

  • 14 out of 91 sigur ros songs on the playlist i somehow ended up on.

may be one of very few playlists i actually reach the end of.

  • It's like the universe has a soul.

  • My breath is taken, warmth and comfort embrace me. I think of the world and I´m reminded what love is, towards anyone or anything. This is where I´m at, when I´m listening to Sigur Rós...

  • Its really unbelieveable how people can influent day of other people trough the music. Thank you all who are able to do this. Im so proud of you

  • I've listened to this song so many times, and watched the video more than enough, and it's amazing how powerful the song is; but it isn't until I've looked at the video for my art research (I'm currently looking at facial expressions and emotion through music) that I've realised how much emotion is contained in the music and how much emotion is held with in people's faces, it's brilliant, and completely beautiful :)

  • Damn.. front man looks like an ancient vampire.. (the awesome kind. With culture heritage and stuff)

  • This is the kind of song that makes me ponder the meaning of life and what it is to be human.

  • it's ridiculous to compare jonsi (and Sigur ROS) to god.

Of course he's amazing, unique and above all, but he's not jonsi .

  • It's funny how in one cut the conductor is wearing headphones and in the next cut he isn't.

  • ... who found God's IPOD?

  • Just one word to say : Takk...

  • @ 8:02 if you don't get at least a little teary eyed, you are dead inside!

  • my colorguard director showed us this song and its amazing

  • Svo fallegur!

  • You tried everything Yes, a thousand times. Experienced enough. Been through enough. But it was you who let everything. Into my heart. and it was you who once again. Awoke my spirit. I parted, you parted You stir up Emotions In a blender Everything in disarray But it was you who was always There for me and it was you who never judged My true friend.
  • wow your words took my breath away! thank you. i can think of a friend or two who is my true friend. hope you don't mind i send these beautiful words to them. thank you. namaste, bless you!

    @Willy2227

  • I parted, you parted (hopelandic) You sail on rivers With an old oar Leaking badly You swim to shore Pushed the waves away But to no avail You float on the sea Sleep on the surface Light through the fog (hopelandic)
  • Icelandic is such a beautiful language.

  • I was introduced to Sigur Rós via this very song. Sigur Rós' music changed who I was. I found the true me.

  • Who the fuck would dislike this?

  • I´m not in this world, when I hear this

  • How did I live for so long without knowing their music until just a few weeks ago? Who cares? It's good to be alive and their music is a reminder

  • Pami <3

  • Amazinggg

  • Humanity

  • Þú flýtur á sjónum

    Sefur á yfirborði

    Ljós í þokunni

  • 12 people aren't people.

  • Anybody have the sheet music for this song? I've looked everywhere, still not finding anything though!

  • I've heard that Sigur Ros doesn't want to sell out so they hold back from being put out there into the mainstream media. I love that they are doing that but also feel like they deserve more attention and that the world needs this indescribably powerful music, so I thought it would be cool if they allowed major publicity when they are done with their musical journey so all of the world can get a taste of real art. For the good of humanity. Your thoughts?

  • @theMuranosBand Part of me agrees but if I wouldn't want to take away that magical moment from someone to discover Sigur Ros on their own. I felt like I had been let in on a secret that was now mine. Of the many things I love about Sigur Ros is how personal & unique their music is to each person who discovers their music. Major publicity or becoming mainstream would take away from that personal experience.

  • Sht! why cant we have a sigur ros factor, at least sigur ros would win!!!

  • Fuckng! woauh!!

  • just! Godlike!!!

  • even though i am a very tough person, i almost cried

  • Chills from my head to my toes. Absolutely beautiful.

  • how can i say this with beauty

    life is all about majesty

a son looking into a fathers eyes

a mother happy when everything is alright

    a daughter searching for beauty

    a homeless pereson with dignity

an introvate mind looking to explore

a freedom that nobobody can ignore

a world outside that hits you inside

and makes you become everlastingly etwined

  • Once the boys choir came in, and seeing how appreciative and how moving he felt by his own god damn music, made me cry. This is exactly what music should be. America fucking sucks.

  • this song is like if the angels come into my head

  • Masterpiece.

  • I cannot stop listening to this song! Such magic!!

  • 12 people are deaf.

    n,n

  • so this is what angel's music sounds like?

  • The best part about being a human is that we have the brain capacity to appreciate and enjoy how beautiful this song is.

  • @UNICYCLEORDIE some don't though which is a shame

  • @UNICYCLEORDIE some don't thought which is a shame

  • This is changing my life.

  • its hard to fake feelings and this performance is just so true

  • as the world grows as the world speaks

as the world sees as the world feels as the world believes

as the world dances into destiny

as the world becomes you and me

as the world walks through infinity honestly

as the world is you and me

as the world becomes forever perfectly

    as the world is completely

  • I shit my pants at 8:00. Gosh!..

  • Stunning, magical, unforgettable

  • Oh, the chills.

  • not a particularly weepy person, but everytime i have ever heard this song in my life i have ended up with tears in my eyes. something about it...... holy.

  • to this date when that choir kicks in the hairs on the back of my neck stand

  • when i first listened to this song i was lying in the dark staring at the glow-in-the-dark stars on my ceiling. they almost seemed to move, that's how magical it was. and then came the climax of the song and it was just so powerful i had to close my eyes. (and yes @chriscopelandTDK, that's the image that came into my head too)

  • i hope listening this song live in japan

  • eargasm and a half at 8:00

  • This song, my motivation, this is what pushes me to lok for all thats good in this world. Also it makes me appreciate how much I really have. Such a deep song for a language I can't even understand. This band has really changed how I look at life.

  • I recently saw the name of this on a friend's facebook wall .. and to be honest i love metal .. but ... this song fucking trapped me ... Incredible song ..

  • There are some songs for which I will always shed tears-

It's the first time I've heard this song but the wetness of my face tells me that this may be one of those of which I speak.

  • Wait... I looked up "music" in my dictionary, and all there was was this song.

  • I'm speechless.

  • It doesn't get any better than this =) <3

  • j'aime bien!!!! tres bonne chanson

  • 7:12 BOOM!

  • beautiful. This is real pure music

  • thank you for this beautiful video=)

  • un mar de recuerdos que son imposible de olvidar con solo escuchar una simple cancion

  • Whenever I listen to this collection of wondrous musical artists, a part of me feels such a peacefulness. I cannot imagine what music will sound like a decade from now, yet what surrounds us presently is immensely beautiful.

  • This song has forever changed my life. It's proof that the power lies w/in the music and not just the lyrics. One cold and rainy winter night, my two best friends showed me this song and said to me, "I guarantee that you wll feel something in this song. Just sit here in the dark and listen." Holy cow. They were right. My eyes were opened to awhole new world of music...absolutely incredible. I love sigur ros.<3

  • This has been my favorite song for a long time, and every time I listen to it, I always get chills. Still, after all this time. Tonight I was feeling down because I'm losing someone very close to me, and it's killing me. Then I listened to this beauty, and right at 8:00 I just couldn't help it anymore. I started crying. Suddenly that heaviness was gone. Even though it's sad for me to think about losing him, this song reminds me that everything's going to be okay. Thank you, Sigur Ros.

  • Wow! The silence afterwards...

  • I heard that they recorded this the first try... thats amazing.

  • i think this music is how is the feeling of enter the heaven

  • I just discovered this guy's music about 30 minutes ago and have listened to nothing else. I wrote a poem as I listened to this, and I had literally no idea what the song was about, but my poem just came about however the song inspired me and I wrote it about a girl in a boat on the sea, and someone who left her. I went and looked up the translation and was amazed by the similarities. I knew how powerful the song felt, but I didn't know the meaning would transcend words. Wow. Seriously in awe.

  • @chriscopelandTDK can you put your poem in a reply?? I'd like to read it!

  • @EraserSheds @SI3G3ANON sorry this took so long, I never check my mail, but here's the poem I wrote along with this: "Two-Four" The rain stayed out, a thousand times, if it lived there at all, i'll never know, if its for you, if its for you, throughout the sea, a blue girl, throughout the sea, i see her row, two-four, three-four, i saw you row, all alone, in the blue, you said "go," you said "go," and i was gone.
  • @chriscopelandTDK you'd be amazed at how amazingly connected us humas are... your comment made my day..

  • I've decided it's such a beautiful piece that I want it to be played at my funeral. I'm not saying my life and myself is beautiful but I just fell in love with this...

  • i like his hair cut

  • I cannot find words to convey the emotion this invokes in me, it simply transcends beauty and lifts me to a place that embraces peace and love at the core instead of money and greed.

Thank you Sigur Ros - a unique and woefully underrated musical talent and experience.

  • 8:05....thats all i need to say

  • This is what I call modern music ! No band can match them !

  • As morbid/sappy as this sounds, I want to listen this song when it's my time to die. There's just something so...comforting about this song. It's like when you were little and your mom smoothed your hair back before kissing you goodnight. It just makes you feel like everything is going to be all right.

  • Sigur Ros.. the only band that can either help me with nostalgia, sadness, loneliness and amognst any other feelings.. in the world. This.. is why I love you all.

  • beautifull.. just beautifull I also dont understand icelandic.. yet I own five cds.. four of which are albums.. one has a live cd in it which just blows my mind.. I feel like I understand his singing purely through the accompanying music.. no other band on the planet has ever done that to me...

  • Wow this really is awesome - between the awe created by the band and the orchestra and the fact they are recording at Abbey and being so focused in the moment. This is the stuff that dreams are made of.

  • gonna hate* :P

  • Geniuses like Mozart and Beethoven couldn't have done this any greater. This piece of music gives me chills every time. And that's after like 200+ views. I don't understand how anyone could not like this

  • @alexfrojd1 because they are not mature enough ,, they don't understand this beatiful piece of art , but , anyways , haters gonna gate :)

  • nice music!

  • This song—or should I say, this masterpiece—embodies the essence of life. Simply amazing. Gives me the chills every time.

  • (Translation cont.) I parted, you parted (hopelandic) You sail on rivers With an old oar Leaking badly You swim to shore Pushed the waves away But to no avail You float on the sea Sleep on the surface Light through the fog
  • A translation i found on 'Song Meanings' (Rough translation) You tried everything Yes, a thousand times Experienced enough Been through enough But you it was who let everything Into my heart and you it was who once again Awoke my spirit I parted, you parted You stir up Emotions In a blender Everything in disarray But it was you who was always There for me It was you who never judged My true friend (Cont.)

  • unity of body and mind

  • This song make me Cry at 8:00

  • I'm a big fan of Sígur Ros... How come I didn't listen to this masterpiece until now? I had the crappiest day, now tears are streaming out my eyes. How come this beautiful song can fix the way I was feeling? The right discovery in the right moment.

  • . . . to be completely in yourself . . . no past. no future. just here. but here in a multidimensional way. the best song ever created.

  • Questions come to mind: what language is this? Not being a mainstream language, some explanation seems to be in order. I have no idea if is expresses sadness or just quietness.

  • @mach37 The first half of this song is Icelandic, but the second half is "Hopelandic", which is made up by Jonsi. This way you can fill in the lyrics yourself and the song can mean whatever you want it to mean.

  • Comment removed

  • @mach37 Search for the lyrics, and there's an English translation in the comments of the 'song meanings' website

  • 225,956 views .... so many people were made happy since I put this up here 09... makes me happy myself right now when I think about it, listening to Robbie Robertson's When night was young.... what a beautiful world this is

  • Awesome. I've been looking for this video for ages but couldn't remember which song it was.

Truly beautiful stuff. Wish I could see them live.

  • The song in itself is already moving, but when the choir is singing and you see all of the people just producing this beautiful sound all at once, it's almost overwhelming.

  • Cop on

  • The gears in your soul will grind to a halt while this song plays.

  • One day, when I'm dying in my hospital bed, I hope someone there puts some headphones on me with this song playing. I want my last moments to be reflecting on my life, with my loved ones around me, and this song playing. It's...perfect.

Hope they make a new album soon, I mean what more beauty can they produce?

  • I start to get chills at 4:50 as the song begins a crescendo into one of the most amazing pieces of music I've ever heard. Sigur Ros is the best band on the planet by far and I can't even understand Icelandic. I don't need to.

  • @milesgr I don't understand Icelandic either but the overwhelming emotion displayed in this performance says it all.

  • @milesgr at 4:01 when the choir come in... that gets me
