  • Mike Portnoy... the best!

  • @kadumelo100 It's not Mike Portnoy, he left before they made this album, it's Mike Mangini

  • i just had an eargasm! every album i wonder how can they get any better and then on the next album they do. theyre simply the grandmasters of all music and best band of all time.

  • @vetryder

The style they play is limited compositionally (because its rock music), but their songcraft (the essential element of good rock music) has been improving with each album. The aimless noodiling and lack of cohesiveness of earlier albums, has been replaced by tightly packed and "loaded" ideas that seem to have a greater emphasis of forethought and continuity. Mangini helps with this by keeping them all in step, in a restrained and deliberate style that fits DT. Finally!

  • LMAO, so much trolling in this thread.

  • Ultimate ardent eclecticism. A really cool production, too!

  • Day 13 of searching, food and water running low, been up for the past three nights, still havent found irena7777777 comment. Cant go on for much longer....

  • @TheTrueScource /all_comments?v=Ne_mwxjok-s -> Ctrl + F -> irena

    ur welcome

  • Only 1 word can discribe Dream Theater's music....Majestic

  • @GuitarAndWow they were originally called "majesty" for this reason!

  • @klasschat they played it live in ny ny

  • sure f*cking really great band and songs!!

( some one knows what demon they call in goetia? ) hahahah

  • SOMETIMES WE'RE ALL A LITTLE LOST BUT NOT FORGOTTEN...

  • 1:40 OMGOMGOMGOMG... ME GUUUSTA!

  • eleven guys are lost and forgotten

  • is this the new guy on drums? i actually like the sound BETTER!! crazy

  • music, and art in general, is not about good or bad. defiantly not in this level. it is about expression and taste. before judging a piece of art you better take a close look within yourself and asking how deep is your judgment. so, enjoy and understand you're just one subject mind. love this music, by the way : )

  • Yea. Beastmode intro. Gay af ending

  • This song starts off so amazing and then it just sucks. Same stuff as in every other song. They enter with a rhythm guitar part where labrie sings the same way they do on evey song and the verse is shit. I also don't like the lyrics, it doesn't try to catch my attention. Petrucci should have set the drums louder in the procution as well. To bad, i hope their next album is better. I just don't like this one.

  • This is awesome as always. They did the whole album live in DC, It was amazing!! Maybe the best yet!! Thats right, i said it!!!

  • Please people stop feeding MIKEPORNTOY and MIKEPEARTNOY

  • @xXxglassgowdreamxXx This user totally cops the faggot meet retard vibe.... MP WARRIORS 2012! CARPE DIEM!

  • @MlKEPORNTOY You troll music vids, I troll you :)

  • @MlKEPORNTOY This idiot troll is named DAVID DOLLINAR. He was banned from the Dream Theater forums for posting fake leaks. Quit feeding this asshole.

  • Comment removed

  • stop posting comments about bands that are "musically better than Dream Theater"!!!

CAN'T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN THIS???

  • @mrlobotomysound Amen brother!!!!!

  • @mrlobotomysound in my opinion your right but there is a good grp for each kind of music look for prog fusion.... planet x is overpower

  • @Deathmaul1 yeah, i was talking about prog metal/rock

  • @mrlobotomysound well, old DT stuff is! :P imo..

  • @mrlobotomysound actually you are wrong. Older dream Theater was better in every aspect imaginable than this new album. Older Dream Theater was way more complex and epic. A Change Of Seasons and Octavarium shit all over this.

  • @devouredmartyr But bands can not get stuck on their first songs, they shouldn't recycle old stuff. I know that a lot of rock and metal bands became commercial, and I hate when that happens, but Dream Theater is not the case. They are making really good music and that's not easy. I think only "You build me up..." is a bit pop.

The old DT was fucking great but more than 10 years passed and they keep rocking. That's not easy to achieve ;)

  • Every time you like this comment Chuck Norris is gonna kick Justin Bieber in his face!

  • Difficulty level:Fuck...

  • GUYS ... JUST STOP FIGHTING ON WHO IS THE BEST DRUMMER AND WHO DID A BETTER JOB WITH DT. THEY ARE BOTH FUCKING AWESOME ................ ROCK ON MOTHER FUCKERS !!!!!!!!!

  • @DrumzruLe2 It's pretty clear who the better DT drummer is. Anyone who thinks MP is a better DRUMMER is completely delusional and/or just a hardcore MP fanboy. It's not even close.

  • @BOOLsheet Gotta Agree there.

  • muito boa!

  • Why doesn't DT play this song live?

  • got goosebumps

  • @xXtremeMitsosXx jajajajajajaja ......

  • With or Without Portnoy, DT ever will be DT, That's the reason a like the new disc, Thanks DT :)

  • molto tecnico questo brano degno dei dream ....ma scusate .....mi manca PORTNOY

  • 7:33 steve morse influenced!

  • 1:42 to 1:53 is sweet, amongst 100 other things.

  • best part : 00:00-10:13

  • OMG!!! i'm singing the riff between 1:59 and 2:30 all day long

who else got the same earwig?

  • @UsAgainstthecrown Hahahahaha

  • The part from 6:22 to 6:57 is so DT and one of my favorite sections.

  • Really wish they would have played this one when I saw them. This song is one of my faves from Dramatic Turn.

  • @dreambrew I don't think they've played this one live, at least I haven't found a video on youtube. :(

  • When I die... I Will be in a Dream Theater!... xD

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • 4:21 I don't need to say anymore.

  • excelent

  • I love the part from 1:42 - 2:31 . Am I the only one?

  • @MIKEPEARTNOY

Dude.. no offense but u sound like a Too much hardcore fan of MP, that band really sucks!!!... They're a Try Hard band!!!.. which is pretty lame in this genre!!

  • @MIKEPEARTNOY Hey MIKE, we all thought you were the best drummer in the best band. But you "EFFED" it up, thinkin' you can just put them on hold while you go chase some tail with your favorite band. You could've just asked them for a temporary leave of absense, or something but you expected them to die into obscurity, thinking they couldn't possibly "EXIST" without you. They proved you wrong, found an awsome drummer and now you think you can win over their fans with a thrash band. NOT HAPPENING

  • @bogistjoe "mikePEARTnoy" not portnoy, not mike himself.

  • It is sad to see this video have only 66,000 views while the crapier music has hundreds of millions of views.

  • DT are the best, all my favourite bands coming together as one and still they have their own sound, influenced by Queen,Toto, Rush,Pink Floyd,Led Zeppelin and JP is God.You don't need hits to have millions of fans, they are at this moment the best band on the planet.Fuck Coldplay(they steel riffs from The Satch Satriani)

  • Check out the band Vagina's Virgin Virginity, they have an amazing guitarist called Pishflaps McInally. They have bitchin' lyrics about dangle berries and ringworm. An absurdly gifted virtuoso band. Drummer Clit Kebabs is outstanding. Triple V, baby!!

  • @irena7777777 what the fuck did i just read?

  • @teejay929 Please, just check them out and buy all their releases, even the bootlegs. You won't be disappointed.

  • The intro sounds very Super Mario Bros. 3 like to me. :D Not sure why... just seems suiting. For the Sky World maybe?

  • @AissurDrol More Zelda :P Skyward Sword style?

  • @ImKevin15 Why are u mentioning Zelda From '' Pet Semetary'' in a DT video lol..... :))

  • DT ROCK

  • The solo at 8:22 is, in my opinion, the best in the album!

  • There's a new proggy band in a similar vein to Dream Theater called Haken. Their new album 'Vision' is light years ahead of this. Just saying.

  • SHIT.,., THIS SONG IS NOT INCLUDED ON THE SETLIST TOUR,.,.,. DAMN IT

  • @petrucciado Yeahhh damn it, i was waiting to hear it and it was :((

  • massa demais maais veeei, karalho o Magini ta distruindo na batera!

  • Mind blown.

  • great great great come back DT!.....very good job!

  • my bff is the one who said it;s the best but my opinion thinks i don't like and i like selena and taylor and deffinetly NOT justin beiver! he's is so weird and dumb!!! Also i meant to say beiver and not beiber!! <3 for selena she rocks!!

  • THE BEST BAND EVER!!

    - Shannon

  • Pure And up there with the classics of Yes ,Genesis Marillion this is Prog at its best

    !!!!!!!FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • Have they played this or This is the Life live yet? I have'nt seen any videos of those two yet..

  • @EvilSkeltos I've seen them twice since the album came out. Granted, the set lists were identical with the exception of also playing 'Outcry' at the last show. At those shows they've played every song except 'Beneath the Surface', 'Lost, Not Forgotten', and 'This is the Life'. Good observation. I have seen a video for 'Beneath the Surface' from their first show of the tour in San Fran. Lucky bastards.

  • Pornboy...your a tool..go away! Your moms calling.

  • The solo at 7:08 is really something.

  • Great, great, great and nothing other. That's DT - lost not forgotten

  • I don't like the noodling Jordan Rudess does. :(

  • @CuriousJack420 I think you may be the only one. Even my friend who is a "Classical Music Purist" agrees with me that Jordan Rudess is a beast.

  • @slythe109 I can see that happening. Jordan Rudess takes a lot of inspiration from classical music, which I don't think fits DT.

Kevin Moore was way more prog than Rudess.

Not that I don't think Rudess is good. He's a fucking genius.

  • @CuriousJack420 I can't argue with that.

  • @CuriousJack420 Rudess and Moore displayed both prog and classical elements. DT has been incorporating neoclassical motifs since the beginning. Even on 'When Dream and Day Unite'. Less so perhaps in 'Images and Words'. But there are examples all throughout their career. I'm not really sure why you would draw this conclusion.

  • I don't think they're gods, but VERY skilled nonethless. I'm wondering how much practice you would need to get to this stage of expertice and awesomness... Not just a few years... Gentlemen. We are listening to a bands life-work. May Dream Theater never lose thier inspiration.

  • o my god this is a intro

  • It's unfortunate that things didn't work out between Mike Portnoy and the rest of the band but it's nice to hear that Mike Mangini is filling his shoes. Dream Theater was lucky to be able to pick up another top notch drummer with similar style. He's definitely got a different flare but it's undoubtedly Dream Theater through and through. Awesome new album!

  • THEY ARE UNBEATABLE.....GODS IN HUMAN FORM...

  • Comment removed

  • Dream Theater will always be my favorite band until the day I die ^^

  • @CommElite DT will be my fav band even after I die.

  • @CommElite i share this feeling too ....

  • @CommElite And shortly there after.

  • am i the only one that dosent have a double bass??? cuz im really good at double bass but i dont have 1!!!! :(

  • I went to Florida about 3 weeks ago for a conference and decided to hit up a Trivium & Dream Theatre concert, knowing fully well who Trivium was but not a clue as to Dream Theatre....Best last minute concert descision ever! Definately a fan now. Mike Mangini's solo was Fu**ing awesome!!

  • I hear this song every morning when i wake up.... is better than a REDBULL..........

  • under a glass moon 2011 version !!

  • great work

  • 6 persons are some fucking beliebers

  • No way,, it's The best song in the new album!

  • actually on the backs of angels is still the best record of that album....

  • welcome back DT... i've missed you all this years :)

  • Hey guys am I the only one who is addicted to this riff?? 8:05 - 8:22

Damn, it's so DT and so progressive

  • @MaximumPayne12 Yeah, it's phenomenal over the chord changes. It's one of the first riffs I had stuck in my head from the song. Besides the intro, of course.

  • @MaximumPayne12 i cant even count it....good shit :)

  • @MaximumPayne12

Go and check out an Argentinian Progressive Metal band entitled Presto Vivace.

    Musically superior band.

  • @Easleytee Oh I've heard them =) I can say they are pretty good but they are nothing compared to DT, sorry.

  • @Easleytee

No dude, check out this Peruvian techgrind band called Skies Of Ash. Musically superior to Dream Theater and they also have bitchin' lyrics about Hobbits and Ringwraiths.

  • @MaximumPayne12 Not even joking - I thought I was the only one who was addicted to that riff. It's so fucking badass.

  • la mejor banda que existe!

  • 4:47 immortal drumming speed. :D

  • I REALLY THINK THAT THE BEGINNING OF THIS SONG COULD BE ON A MOVIE IT FITS PERFECT

    AWSOME SONG

  • this is the first convincing one i've heard off the new album

  • the piano part is epic. i really love it

  • 2:32 anyone doubt that mesa mark v isnt the shit?

  • 2:32 EPIC

  • where can i get the sheet music for this?

  • @laurathemis uh, those who will transcribe this part till 2:32 will be my hero :-D

  • it sounds like home in some moments

  • 08:22 - 08:52 Good ol' DT. Gotta love it

09:04 Greatest entrance for a chorus, and epic double chorus.

  • don't fight for mangini and portnoy just enjoy the music guys!!

  • i miss MP but MM did a great job on this cd even do he wasen't the one that wrote the drums --------------CHEERS FOR MIKE MANGINI XD

  • thank you God for sending us your son.... again

  • OMG! Sounded like Under a Glass Moon. But a bit differs from Original. I guess they took something from their previous album.

  • great song.. MM is a great drummer.. hes first album with DT and he was amazing... but.. i need to say.. i miss something like Stream of Consciousness drum in this music.. especially at 6:22 - 7:00. This kind of drum mess with us.

  • @alembyk Mangini did not write the drum parts Petrucci did.

  • @FarhanM22 Portnoy did. Mangini just took what he wrote and played it, probably added some of his own shit too.

  • @debopathak No it wasn't Portnoy, he left before they started the new record. There was no portnoy influence in this album.

  • @FarhanM22 Dude, Mangini sad it himself, Portnoy has said it too. Find the video. I've seen it. It's true.

  • @debopathak Portnoy wrote what?!?! Portnoy left when they were about to discuss how and when they would make a new album. Portnoy doesnt have nothing to do with this album. Petrucci wrote drum guide lines and Mangini added some personal touch. Petrucci said it a million times.

  • @JohnPetrucci7 Dude I promise I've heard one them say Portnoy wrote some of the drum tracks. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't.

  • mad bass.

  • Am I the only one who can get easy thumbs-up by starting my comment with "Am I the only one who-"?

  • 6 persons got no ears

  • I'm the only one hitting the play button once the song finishes?

  • Non si inventa piu' nulla quando ormai si ha gia' dato tutto.....piacevole all'ascolto ma "gia' sentito".

  • let me tell you...THIS IS DREAM THEATER! its the essence ,the purity ,the soul. i remember hearing "images and words" for the first time, i just had that feeling again.

thank you for creating this music,DT. gosh im getting emotional............

  • I love that this album is actually mixed like Awake, Images, and Scenes...FOR CLARITY! I CAN USE MY VOLUME KNOB AGAIN!

  • Great song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i am listening the album from the first song to the last this is the trird song of the album and so far the most DT like song so far first and second was a bit mediocre ,but this song is good!!!

  • really amazing for this song,,,,great,,,

  • 7:13 reminds me of a solo in the first albums of DT

  • Dream Theater always makes my days with the music.... But this song makes explode my head!

  • I want to commit suicide with such perfection

  • FUDIDO

  • fuck you DT's still sexy as hell;) this songs awesome jp is GOD

  • this album feels much more emotional...

  • @MuffinWithAnAxe Me too! Little here and there -- especially the keyboard part (after the intro), bass as well. It simply feels a lot Muse-like (most usually songs like Butterflies and Hurricanes, Stockholm Syndrome come to my mind ;))

  • Muse?

  • @mouserSVK Out of interest, what bit did you mean? I hear the odd bit of muse influence in some of their stuff from octavarium onwards.

  • @MuffinWithAnAxe absolutely agree

  • @MuffinWithAnAxe @mouserSVK And yet when i heard Muse the first time i thought it has some DT touch here and there lol

  • just like under a glass moon
