  • the stuff they did with Broadway shows in the 90's was so cheesy!

  • Great performances. Check out 17 year old Victoria Marston perfornming All that Jazz. We will see her on Broadway someday!

  • Let me preface this by saying I love Broadway. But what the hell is this? THIS is what some moron chose as the half-time show at the NBA All Star Game? Did no one else think this was an odd pairing? Way to know your audience, guys. SMH.

  • Flying Phantom takes the cake . . .

  • Not a fan of that phantom...the rest was awesome though

  • Best Halftime show ever at the NBA All-Star game. Every year I watch the All-Star game, or go to the real game, hoping for something to come close but it never comes close.

  • OMG!!!! The whole thing was amazing but the seamless change between Les Mis and Titanic just blew me away! The music just fits so well and sounded amazing!

  • cats is irritating!

  • Wow. Probably the best year Boradway has ever had, this is fantastic..btw

    Cuccioli = the man

  • The hell?

  • i cried watching this...i'm SUCH a dork

  • @tuzzogal It's ok, when I first saw this I wanted to give a standing ovation after seeing it!

  • I have to say Les miserables and The Scarlett Pimpernel stole that! God, they have incredible voices!

  • @jeanzgirl13 no scarlett pimpernel alone stole that...

  • wheres the musical cats

  • answering lexlibi's question, the song is "IN HIS EYES"

  • 7:15 cool Cuccioli, Eder n Noll together :)

  • That must have been frieking AWESOME man!!!

  • Never thought I'd say this, but I wish I would have been at that basketball game!

  • 10 bucks says that all the people just got up to go the concession stand cuz they have no idea how awesome these some of these shows are!!!

  • they should do something like this again. I would totaly go see it

  • so true!. O man how I miss some of these shows so much....

  • See if they did this again, This would finally get me to sit through an NBA game with my brothers and dad!!! lol

  • bring in da noise bring in da funk rulez

  • This might be the coolest thing ever. Thanks for sharing!

  • Best NBA All-Star halftime show ever! Thanks for uploading this!

  • That was awesome!!!! Thanx for the clip! God, and Brian was there!

  • who was playing the phantom and christine?

  • The Phantom is Ted Keegan, understudy on Broadway and lead Phantom in the National Tour. Christine is Sandra Joseph.

  • what's the title of the jekyll and hyde song before this is the moment?

  • The girls are singing "In His Eyes".

  • thanks

  • Hmmm. Seems below broadway standard to me. :-( Particularly the Phantom performance...that was just sad. :-P Were these the broadway principles performing?

I guess the acoustics and sound system probably weren't the best, to be fair.

  • Phantom was pretty well on par with the cast I saw on Broadway two summers ago. I know that the Jekyll & Hyde and Scarlet Pimpernel were the original casts, and I think Chicago was the original revival cast though I could be wrong. It would stand to reason that they're all the principles. You have to adjust judgment because they're using boom mikes in a stadium that's probably the worst building ever for acoustics.

  • Titanic still gives me chills ten years after I saw it. What an amazing score and cast!

  • Linda Eder just melted that chick's face off!

  • Who'd of thought that Kobe Bryant would participate in the Olympics 10 years later? :)

  • Les Mis had a bad day that day, but other than that it was great!

  • tks for posting this is classic

  • That was GREAT!!!!!!!!

  • Is that Liz Callaway as Grizabella?

  • At the risk of being corny... this was MY Broadway when I was in Jr. High School! I think I had the cast recordings for each of these shows and fell in love with every last one. :)

And what a lineup of original casts!! Douglas Sills, Robert Cuccioli, Bebe Neuwirth, Linda Eder, Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark... and was that even Lea Salonga with the "Miss Siagon" cast??

How fast ten years fly, eh? lol... Thank you SO MUCH for posting!

  • no, sadly, it was not lea salonga with the miss saigon cast... :(

    they were good though! :)

  • it wasn't lea salonga. d:

    chris: matt bogart

    kim: deedee magno

    :D

  • Holy crap there are alot of OBC's in this thing!! Holy Crap

  • I remember watching this back in 98 when i was 9. to find it 10 years later is sooo cool!

  • Fr Jekyll/Mr Hyde is HOT!

  • Robert Cuccioli!? He's the original :)!

  • Abso-fucking amazing!

    Love Scarlet Pimpnernel :D

  • What's with the pop drumming track under all the songs lol

  • Probably because it's in an arena they thought it would sound more apealing I guess?

The only one it sounds completely utter crap filled is for Les Mis! Cats doesn't sound that great either, but the others arent all that bad!

  • super EXTRA !!!! FIVE STARS S:))))thank you bdtb

  • I know! Isn't it crazy!?

  • amazing to the max

  • hahahahahahaha this is amazing!!!

  • How awesome would it be if the Phantom DID fly at some point in the show?

  • who was the phantom?

  • I'm not sure, but Thomas James O'Leary was the Broadway Phantom at that time, so it is probably him.

  • @bdtb I think it was actually Ted Keegan. From a website about him: 'And he has the distinction of being the actor who has sung the role in front of the largest audience ever, when he made a spectacular flying entrance from the dome of Madison Square Garden singing "Music of the Night" during the half-time show of the NBA All-Star Game.'

  • @Tarabara It was Ted Keegan!

  • @molly4t I thought so! He was the first Phantom I saw in the theatre, and he was great.

  • @Tarabara I've seen 3 other phantoms besides him, and he was by far the best! He gave such an emotional performance, and has the best voice of the ones I've seen.

  • @bdtb

Ted Keegan, who I saw three years later on tour. A wonderful Phantom.

Now, who can tell me who Grizabella is?

  • @johnvaljean Ted Keegan, who I saw three years later on tour. Best Phantom ever in my opinion.

  • @johnvaljean It's Ted Keegan.

  • Who was doing memory? Was it Liz Callaway?

  • Yes, Liz Callaway. At least it sounds just like her.

  • 7:05. Michael Berresse. Michael Berresse. My God, Michael Berresse.

  • I don't normally watch basketball, but if I knew that was going on, I would most certainly watch it.

  • I would assume it's Douglas Sills..but I'm not positive. And I Love Linda Eder at 6:50 and especially at like 7:03! This is amazing..two of my favourite things!

  • Now that's a half-time show!

  • Who's the male soloist from "The Scarlet Pimpernel at 3:20? He's very good...

  • My best guess is that it's Douglas Sills (from SP v. 1.0) becuase I don't believe it was rewritten until later in 1998.

  • Yes, I think it is Doug Sills.

  • Thanks! I'll go watch some of his longer videos...

  • I see Victoria Clark in 6:07

  • Yeah, she was in the OBC of Titanic.

  • Yes, it is the one and only Douglas Sills! I was there!

Thank you bdtb! This brings back some very special memories! : )
