i really cant believe there are people here slating this performance.......it is clearly a technical and sound problem that nearly ruined this performance......the band RESCUED IT!!! anyone who cant see this is a technical problem really should not be listening to music!
I saw this when it was on TV live I remeber I was getting ready to go out as The Tube was on early evening Friday nights. They could just about hold a tune but gthey do not sound "really good". I have seen them recently live last year at Butlins (only 2 of them) and it was entertaining but singing is definately not there strong point. Watch Shalamar singing live to see the difference of what good live singing on the Tube could sound like.

They had NO earpieces then, the monitors went down, they couldn't hear the track & the feedback was really dreadful so it was NOT really the girls fault.
Also nerves must have got them when they couldn't hear themselves sing!! They were not that bad at all. There is tune & strength there!! They all have very distinctive voices that blended well together. Yeah in a studio better. They sang this track FULLY LIVE on Jimmy Savilles show that year no probs & Cruel Summer live on another!
I love this. The girls never claimed to be great singers - but I still think this was impressive at the time. How many 'live' performances did they ever do prior to this?
I absolutely love the Siobhan-era of Bananarama, but this is just hilarious. It sounds like a bad American Idol audition ! lol ! Still, kudos for at least trying to do this live !
I'd always heard that this appearance had gone down in history for them sounding awful. I think they sound really good. Love the way Siobhain is giving it loads while Sarah and Keren look like they really can't be arsed. Love the clip, love the song and love the girls.

Somebody supposedly "in the know" over on the Hit Factory message boards claims that in the studio only Keren's voice was used when they recorded with Jolley & Swain. What a load of crap! This proves that the girls all had distinctive voices and that unison lead singing is harder than it looks. Thanks for (re)posting this.
I was very surprised to learn they could sould this good live. In an era of lip-synch, this version shows they could find their sweet spot with their harmonics live where so many others wouldn't dare try. Full marks to Bananarama for this clip. It sets you apart from so many of your lacklustre peers :)
good quality! shame about the mic feedback, but they handled it well.. I would've thrown down the mic like axl rose and left :p looove siobhan's deep voice

I was very surprised to learn they could sould this good live.
