Yah, it does look like slow flight practice to me...he could have gotten that stall to break long before that, if that truly was the objective. Probably just teaching him how to manage the plane through power and pitch inputs for altitude and speed respectively, is my guess.

I believe he's practicing turns during slow flight.Possibly climbing turns during slow flight, this helps a student learn how to use power to control altitude and pitch to control airspeed.

I preffer a tuba player... the trumpet gets annoying sometimes!
