@mrbuddha2026 no I use same gauge and have no problem. Workout that pick hand. Take a break, heal , and repeat. After a couple of weeks youll notice it gets easier.

I noticed a video on the right with Kirk Hammett playing it (says guitar lesson, but it's not really). I noticed he played that VERY first part a little different. He starts it on the E string 12th fret instead of A string 7th fret. So he's starting on the 12th fret and working his way all the way down.

I mean it doesn't matter cuz they both sound exactly the same, but I think for people still struggling it's good to try both and see which is easiest.

@augie150 : Dude, if you like this song, you must practice and practice and suffer to achieve this epic song... I practiced these riff for 6 hours and... it took me 1 hours just to complete the lessons and after this hours, I was just able to "know where to put my finger"... I mean, I wasn't be able to play all the riff in one shot... This is the hardest things I did with my guitar. Don't be so much quickly discourage, when you achieve it, the feeling is just awesome!

@augie150 Dude, there's no better way to learn than to put yourself straight in the kill zone and learn how to survive in it. I won't say it's hard or easy, but learning this song will certainly bring you to the next level. And of course, down picking all the way is the best, and by playing it alternate picking(which is also the most easy but wrong way) will not only ruin the song, but spoils you. Next time you will prefer the easy way out if that happens. Trust me, this song brought me up a LOT

I just have very little room for my ring finger/and pinky. Biggest problem is I can barely get my index finger to stretch far enough to skip the string in between. I'm still VERY new at this.
