I wonder if I´m doing right when I do these push ups (the regular), do you really have to stretch the arms all the way, like the guy that you respond this video to? if I have completely outstretched arms, I can´t do them. But if I pull in my arms a bit at the shoulders then I can do them, my arms are still stright
@LuPe8240 The main reason most people can't see their 6-pack is not that their abs are undeveloped, but that that they have a layer of fat in the way. You burn more calories and fat with exercises that engage multiple muscle groups. For instance, push-ups work your arms and chest, and if done with perfect form, also engage your core to keep your body straight throughout the movement. Another great tool is the Power Wheel (link on my site), which engages arms, chest and shoulders along with core.
@ramusic10 thanks man.. i forgot about the wheel thing i have one of those and when i use it it burns the shit outta my core... i still use it but at the gym
This truly is the hardest push up in the world... I'm 13. I can go through 30 diamond push ups... 55 push ups...But this.... This is on a whole other level... I can only do 7 of these.. and my arms hurt a bit.. wow...
@ramusic10 Haha, that pritty epic , an you did it with a gym? Woah, im reasonably strong but have never been good with working out with my own body weight.... any tips
You rock , man !!! Can you sing "Whippin' Post" while doing that? =D I loved your work with Frank Zappa !!! You should send some music videos too !!!"
You are just amazing. I want to look how you look when i´ ll be 61. Keep your work up, cause it´s great. You said, you don´t go to the gym right? So what do you think about the gym?
hi ur vid is awesome...im goin to the fitness for a long time but i cant do anything from that...my weight is 72kg and im 182cm (17 years old)....i can benchpress 105kg. But no way...any tipps? :)
@legu333 Extend your hands an inch or so farther out each time you train push-ups. Take your time and don't expect it to happen over night. Eventually your arms play less of a part and it becomes a full body exercise accentuating your core strength.
@rmacrae91 Actually, it does increase your overall strength. Clearly it would in your fingers, hands and forearms, but it also has an overall effect due to incorporating more stabilizer muscles as well.
@Rockford91Fosgate i agree, planche push-ups are a serious challenge, and I'll be doing a video on them in the future. This video is in response to other videos that claimed normal full extension push-ups were the hardest of all.
@Rockford91Fosgate Handstand push-ups are no problem for me. I have a video here on my channel where I knock out 30 of them. I don't have planche push-ups down yet, but I have a systematic approach I'm using to build up to them. I'll post a video soon to show you what I'm doing.
my bro and i do pushups all the time in our daily routine workout. we dont do anything as intense such as the pushups performed in ur vid but we do things like diamond and full stretch. now is it bad to do this on a dialy routine cuz ppl say that we shud do this every other day or 3 times a wk. pleaze respond quickly and thanku!!
@dogman683 It's good that you're motivated to work hard, but you actually slow down your muscle growth by overtraining. Muscles only grow with adequate rest and recovery time. I would suggest every other day at the most. Thanks for the good question.
@Pwnzxc No, I wouldn't say that's bad. If you want to make them more intense (always a good thing), try doing "diamond" pushups where you put your hands close together so there's a diamond shape between your two thumbs and index fingers, then drop your nose into the diamond at the bottom of each rep. Also, try doing them with your hands down towards your rib cage instead of right under your shoulders.
i enjoy watching your videos and i randomly happened to come across them by chance. i am amazed with your strength, especially combined with your age! i am a gymnast and free runner from the UK, and in my background (i don't mean to sound challenging or disappointed, believe me i am not!) but im pretty sure i wouldn't be mistaken in saying that the planche pushup beats this. do some research if you haven't seen it already, i think you'll be pleasantly surprised. :) happy training!
@TheTraceurLiam Yes, planche push-ups are very challenging, but to say they "beat" this is like comparing apples and oranges, since planche push-ups involve pushing with your arms back at your center rather than fully extended.
I've never worked at developing planche push-ups before, but I've decided to start working on them, as I agree with you, it's a great challenge.
Happy training to you too, and thanks for the comment.
I've seen a really strong guy do this. He reached out as far as he could, then did fingertip pushups. You look like you use your back and hips more than he did. With him it looked like a straight shoulder push. The hips did very little. He could clean and jerk 380 lbs over his head.
@robertslistening There's really no back or hips involved in this, or even arms. It's mainly core and shoulders. Did this "strong guy" do it on one hand?
Sorry, your previous question about finger sliding was erased by mistake. Just stick with it and your hand and finger strength will get there. It's not easy for me either!
Thanks for being my inspiration, Robert. You always say keep doing what you're able to do and above all else don't hurt yourself exercising. Injury is self-defeating.
Hi Robert. I have the LGNAAA dvd already. What are the interim steps I can utilize to work up to the ability to do various types of full extension pulls, like you often show with other exercises in your video? Another fabulous video you've presented to us here.
Hi Tom, and thanks for the compliment. To learn full extension push-ups, just move your hands a little further forward each time you try them. Also be aware that at full extension, it's more of a core and shoulder exercise than arms and chest. Hope that helps.
