Hay reader. i have a query if you could answer i would much apperciate it.

Basicly i tryed to make a tutorial and i put in a intro using Sony Vegas pro 9. I put the tutorial and intro together in sony vegas, i saved it , then when it came to uploading to youtube it said "could not verify audio codec" then the video failed to upload. Could you please tell me what to do to sole this problem, and information would be a great help, please . thankyou.

After you have the .avi file done, go to YouTube, choose Upload, and upload it.

I recommend using a Movie software for editing like Sony Vegas or Windows Live Movie Maker. (Vegas is more complicated, but has more features.)

You are right...

Since this video was created Youtube changed the video codecs they use and also ended some of the hacks that we used to use back in the day to bypass YT encoding.

So this video has become out of date since I have posted it as far as YT quality standards go.

This is pretty good. Look at my videos to see better. A lot of times you still need a full screen capute. If u re-encode it, it looks even better look at some of my videos.

Play the video back in something else like windows media player and you will see it plays back fine.

The playback in camstudio is buggy for some reason but you will find your video was captured fine.

Also how can I make LONG recordings (1 to 2 hours) without having a HUGE file size? For example, I wanna let Camtasia start recording a video I'm streaming and I wanna leave my house and come back and press STOP. How can I do this w/o having a HUGEEEEE file size AND have audio-video SYNCHRONIZATION?

I'm not gonna upload the videos anywhere so the quality doesn't need to be superb.

av sync issue could be because your audio frame rate is different than your video frame rate. Make sure that audio is being captured at same rate as your video.

If your video is fine before encoding just make sure you encode it in an even ratio.

As for your large file you can reduce it slightly by reducing the audio and video capture bit and frame rates. But you are thinking crazy if you think you can leave it on record for hours and have a small file.

As for the file size, the MAX I would record at a time would be 2 hours. I just wanted to get the smallest size POSSIBLE for such a length. My plan is to just save the file as *.camrec and play the file back in camtasia.

What auto-pan speed do you use on Camstudio because when I use auto-pan it makes my video bad quality, and when I use MSU Lossless Codec it won't upload to youtube.

Auto pan speed is all up to preferece. If you don't like how it looks increase it until you do. I prefer higher seeds myself.

If you are having trouble uploading MSU then just try another codec already installed on your machine like Microsoft 1

The point is that you can produce exactly the same quality of video with both.

Camtasia has more features... but if you understand how to capture quality video it does not matter.

That is because Camtasia is crap and you recorded in huge dimentions.

Youtube compresses your video down to 320x240 and then displays it at 480x360 which is why your huge dimension video looks so bad.

The key is to not capture so much of your page. Capture small area and use an auto pan feature to display it instead.

Obviously not if your computer is "laggy."

It also depends on what you are trying to capture... for example if you are capturing things like you gaming your ram is getting gobbled up by that on top of it all.

I recommend no less than 2 gig of ram and a video card with at least 256 of its own for best results if you are capturing while using high demand applications.

hmm... hard to say. You might double check the codec you have selected in the video settings.

Also in the video settings there are settings for both capture frame rate and playback rate... if you want the video to play at normal speed they must be equal...

But the problem is that those two settings are measured differently. Set capture to 50 milliseconds and playback to 20fps. Then they will be equal. Find this setting under options>video settings. I suspect your issue is that setting.

Yes, this particular optimization technique for youtube requires exactness in the bit rate control of both audio and video.

You have a choice to increase your audio bit rate but if you do that you must decrease your video bit rate for it to work.

For this particular example the VIDEO quality is more important than the AUDIO because it is a screen capture demonstration. So I decreased the audio bit rate and increased the video bit rate for higher quality.

The settings to increase the quality of your camstudio video are very similar to those in camtasia.

For example... always save as avi. In the video options set the quality to the highest (100).

Use a quality codec like MSU screen capture codec but the default Microsoft 1 is acceptable as well.

On your "Faster" question its all about the bit rate... the smaller the bit rate of your final encoding the faster. That is why you should use good codecs when encoding to flash.
