Why do people who can't help themselves want to help others (look at his other videos the ones where he has a beard)! Answer: those who can't do teach.
@tallerbruce Seems to me you don't advocate any techniques yourself. You're just bitter about something and ruthlessly negative and sarcastic to people on Youtube. Keep up the good work.
@psrosenquist I know what you mean but I don't think I am being ruthlessly negative and sarcastic unfairly I am probably wasting my time because people probably can't see the truth I am seeing namely I have seen Joel elsewhere sadly stuttering badly and here at NSA where people understand of course his speech is better I mean he is somewhere where stuttering is completely understood and supported so of course his speech is better! But to think that because his speech is good here means that ..
Respond to this video...(continued) NOW he can help other people is ridiculous. What about all the other times he stuttered badly, does he think then that he can help other people? Look if it was only a case of him FEELING BETTER about himself BY thinking he will help others, nothing wrong with that if it helps his speech, but this guy is going for a speech pathology degree and he PLANS to help others so he needs something that works, not just ideas from a one time session of fluency.
Respond to this video...so what Joel will do is get his degree and help others who stutter and not really help them, THAT IS THE PROBLEM. Okay I will advocate for Ross Barret of and his fluency program (look on internet under Ross Barrett), this is a guy who had a severe stutter and now he is fluent, THAT is someone who can help other people. Who would you go to, a person who stutters who says he can help you or someone fluent? Joel is fantasizing which is fine for HIM.
joel I think that you will become the new Wendall Johnson, blazing a trail of helping stutterers , becoming a world known speech therapist rising to higher and higher heights of fame and fortune, being in huge demand from all corners of the earth giving lectures translated into 33 languages and ,eventually, thru all of this becoming much fluent as people bend down to kiss your NSA ring. You might be more know than Montgomery, oh wait, no one could be as ruthlessly ambitious as her, my mistake.
hey joel good to hear that that technique works. but you hardly stuttered at all so if you stuttered on purpose thenl do that all the time.Joel what is your speech like if you dont talk about stuttering and you are in a regular conversation with someone or you talk about something you dont know much about or not being pampered to like here? let me know thanks.
This was actually recorded about a year after AIS. Stuttering is, of course, variable so sometimes it occurs more or less frequent than in this video. I'd say typically I stutter more frequently than in this video, but I *think* at least some of the stuttering in this video was voluntary stuttering (stuttering on purpose) as I've found that, for me, that's been a very helpful strategy in managing my stuttering.
@chaseblissrecords uh I listened to this and I don't hear any voluntary stuttering! Actually it sounded as if you were spontaneously fluent and some of your techniques you learned carried along for the ride in this very low stress ,supportive environment. Actually I saw you use on 2 or 3 occasions either a more gentle onset or longer syllable duration which worked though it stuck out like a sore thumb but you got thru it which was good.Joel, you need to really know what works..see part 2:
@chaseblissrecords Part 2 continued: Joel you need to keep track of what you did to be fluent not only for yourself but for others you plan to help or you really won't be able to help them. Oh, you really don't know sometimes why you were fluent you say, ok, at least that was honest!!! Must have been less stressful obviously to be interiewed here than at stuttertalk where you stuttered profusely. Why not arrange your life that it be composed as often as possible on low stress conditions!
@chaseblissrecords You said 'think" that means you have no idea why your speech was better here. How can you help other people if you don't even know why you are fluent sometimes? Oh, it is not necessary since the fantasy is all that counts? And if you tell someone you can help them they trust you since who would think you would exaggerate? Hey get a PHD in Speech Pathology and you can be just like the other speech therapists in the world who don't know what they are doing!! Go work at AIS!!
