I ordered my 2012 5.0 on 3 Jan. 8hp less from factory isnt that much to be down about and can easily be made up. I wonder though if my build date is going to take longer now cause of the 2013's hitting production :S My dealer still said just 4-8 weeks.

420hp in not a lot anymore. A 8hp increase is just not enough. Ford needs the Mustang GT to be pushing 500hp. They should put a un-supercharged 5.4 in the GT and a supercharged 6.2 in the Shelby.

@ao10s what they need to do is tweek the engine to 444hp like the boss and keep the 5.8 in the shelby kick it up to 675 instead of 650 and with the boss a 5.4l with 500+ hp that would be better and i wonder were this guy got this video

@D1983r First of all junior it's called a Shelby not a Cobra. Secondly the 6.4 challenger has 480hp and the Camaro has 426. Mustangs are not "entry level muscle cars," the only muscle cars today are the big three.

The emblems are for the heritage. Ever heard of a Pontiac GTO? Pontiac G8 GXP? Both are muscle cars not built by Ford, Chevy, or Dodge.

What I like, I have been wishing this since 2010 and just noticed, is they got rid of the ugly black molding around the bottom of the car. Now it's all one color. Don't know why they did it in the first place. "oh hey let's make the bottom border of the car a different color." Only worked for black cars of course.

This is probably the only car in the world that I know of that has undergone 3 facelifts in its existing life cycle. You would think a new generation would have debuted by now. Looks great regardless. I see no drastic changes but its new aesthetic appeal really enhances its over all design. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't its new front fascia resemble to that of the newly face lifted Dodge Charger?? I see a similarity.

@machine843 I'm the original owner of an '89 GT & I too am a 'stang fanatic.The fox cars were good in their day; never sophisticated but reliable & easily modified. They also combined decent utility with comfort & balls, but their day is clearly over. The chassis was old even by '89 & the brakes quite honestly sucked. I just wish the new car had better visibility with larger glass and a redesigned tail. Pivoting full body colored side mirrors and new interior colors would complete it.

In 2010, Ford redesigned the Mustang into a cool exterior design with the exception of the taillights. A year later, they pissed off the '10 owners by putting in the Mustang's bread and butter, the 5.0. Then, Ford brought back what seems to be the best Mustang ever made by Ford, the Boss 302. And now here we are, with a 2013 Mustang looking even sexier and the taillights look so much better. Ford, you're doing a bad ass job fixing a car that wasn't even broken in the first place but

Very ugly Pep Boys mods done to the 'Stang for 2013. The nose is 2011 V-6(bumper treatment) mixed with 2011 GT500(grille design & shape). Squared off the lower rear bumper(and it looks even worse than before, especially with the Euro-sized license plate cutout in the rear bumper). Blacked-out tail-lamps exacerbate matter worse......yuck(And I'm a Mustang die-hard fan). Only GT500 looks more or less as before.....waiting for the 2014 redesign(as a 2015 model I hear)

im not blown away by the face lift for standard and gts they look like a mustang 2 to me and about the shelby motor being the most horeses from a factory v8 the 1973 sd 455 trans am had 500 rated in 70s terms grading scales are different now it would be well in the 700s and the new zl1 camaro and zr1 vette would still kill it , no negative feed back this is my own opinion that im intitled too the boss and shelby look pretty good they need to bring the mach 1 back then theyll be in business

In fact, its funny you chose that year, the year when all engine power started drastically changing because of the gas crisis, lower compression was pretty much mandatory etc...

@SirKowalski666 they did have the gas problems and yes the super duty motor was rated in the 300s but pontiac did that for insurance prices , that motor is a fast one it might not be the fastest but its one of them the 1971 buick gs 455 4 speed is one of the fastest muscle cars ever tested the super duty is pretty much the same motor maybe a little hot roded but i am a pontiac guy i dont want to fight with any one, about the zl1 we will just have to wait until some one lines them up!

@BlackBirdTransAm79 Ummmm, read up on the 73-74 SD455 engines brotha. Had 8.4:1 compression and were SAE net rated at 310(1973) 290(1974). SAE net is what's still used today to rate engine output in the U.S.

Maybe you mean they could produce 500 hp SAE net, but then again, most big block V-8 engines can easliy produce 500 hp with well thought out modifications & be totally reliable and tractable on the street.

I understand what you mean and I acknowledge the SD455 is a detuned race engine, but for obvious reasons, it was compromised into a low compression "smog motor" and the hp rating(while perhaps under rated) , isn't far from the truth if you look at contemporary magazine tests of SD Firebirds and see their trap speeds,102-104mph 1/4 mile speeds isn't a 500hp engine, it's a 300-320hp engine.
