In This Clip, From 0:18 To 1:06, It Was A NBC News' Today Reports On The Beginning Of The New York City Transit Strike On Friday Morning, December 16, 2005.
@lauls85: don't really understand your comment which was directed at me. I made it clear that I lost a lot of money thanks to that bum Toussaint. I ALSO acknowledge that the BTA had a surplus that should have been managed better. I am not enamoured with either of them. Please read things carefully.
Only so long you can threaten a strike and not do it,before Management feels they wont do it and take advantage.City was shut down for 3 days,I saw on several occasions people in lines 5 blocks long trying to get a cab crying, commutes that toke 40 minutes, toke 4 hours for many people. If you got that kind of power as a union, you can't be afraid to use it.MTA wants to negotiate 2009 contract early, never heard the MTA ever say that, that tells you the dividends a strike can pay for years to come.
@blackaristo So what if the MTA had $1 billion surplus. Right now 2010, the MTA and NYC has financial problem that the student free rides will be cut eventually. Did the TWA do something about it? Not a damn thing to cut back on their workers paychecks. If the MTA some many $ surplus left, the TWA wants a share of it, what if the MTA has financial crisis that they have to cut off the some subway and bus lines? Did the TWA comes out with some plans or ask for a reduction on their paychecks? NO.
FUCK Bloomberg!

Roger Toussaint was a very bad, greedy person as were all the minions of the TWU. These guys are just as bad as the elected officials.
