A problem in the hips(everyone has them) is to sandwich the Femur and Tibia on top of eachother, it forces the adductor long head to fire, as well as glute max. BTW, 170lbs is your bodyweight, that isn't what you were lifting. Do 85% of your BW, which is what was on one knee, then add the weight you had in your hands, that is what you were TRULY lifting. 144.50 + 130 =274.50 You did it 4 X, so you actually lifted 1,098lbs.
People have the misconception that a Bulgarian Split Squat has the knee that high. Most people can't do that movement with the knee that high and get hurt because of it. The rear knee is supposed to be raise 2cm per inch of height. Do that and then when you do this exercise again, try and straighten the rear leg so the front knee goes over the toe. A split squat by real definition is a unilateral squat where the knee goes the toe. The reason? It's a correctional exercise, one way to correct...
are these good for say someone like me whose left quad is bigger than his right? When i do back squats i always pump my left quad but my right never feel worked. It also shows in size...
I have been using them for a few months now for that reason. Seems to be working pretty good so far. I had an inch difference between each side from an old knee injury. Is a little over a half inch right now.

That might be the reason you were sore.
