  • shear genius, my god what a driver he was like a lion driving, absolutely relentless my inspiration.

  • I miss racing drivers as Senna, Prost, Mansell...

  • Ought to hate when the audio is out of sync.

  • It would have been another victory for Ayrton Senna in Monaco. We miss you Champ...

  • very impressive, beautiful

  • Can I just say... if you were to make a movie of the life of any other F1 driver... the story line wouldn't be ANYWHERE near as good... and the movie itself anyway. (editing could have been better though...

  • quantas vezes eu disse o que senna disse...?

  • "That car had 1200bhp in qualification and 680bhp in race."

What nonsense - SAE paper 890877 says "504kW MAXIMUM POWER" which is about 680hp or so. The oft quoted 1200bhp is a load of crap for the 1988 car. Maybe in 1986 with unlimited boost, but definitely not in 1988.

  • @Mattypoppins Well, you are right. In 1988 were the turbos limited to 2.5 bar, but the Honda Turbo engine in McLaren still produced more than 510kW in Quali (but thath is only a detail). And it was that years most powerfull engine.

  • No. 1988 car had 670bhp. Nowhere near 1200BHP. Google for Honda RA168E Engine and read the SAE whitepaper.

  • 0:30 I dont put this difference on the videogame!! Ayrton was a genius!!

  • The Hugo Boss advertising is brilliant, it has the small Brazilian flag and Senna name on the engine cover, then a huge BOSS sign underneath. Yes Senna was indeed a BOSS. 1:32.

  • 1200hp. Manual gears. Inches from Armco. Steering with one hand in a car with next to no safety features. Fucking unbelievable. The best of the best.

  • @Ropstopmusic 1200hp? Erm no, not in 1988 and certainly no car in a race has ever had that much power.

I agree with your point though, the drivers of the 80s had massive balls.

  • When it shows him climbing out of the car... where's the camera?

  • @BBDAutomotive the footage is actually 90'... cos there was no onboard in 88'...

  • Going one handed round a circuit at 120mph+ would be difficult, but round Monaco is just mind-blowing!

  • If only...

  • A great shame that everybody including the TV cameras missed the moment where he pushed too far and ended up in the armco. Senna's first wake up that he was a pure mortal.

  • Hey... even superman gets his cape dirty.

  • So...did they mess him up, and throw him out of The Zone? I know some sources say he 'panicked' when Prost gained 6 seconds on him in one lap, but...would Prost have gained such, without them telling him to slow.

  • @VampireYoshi one would think that senna's crew would of but even the best drivers make mistakes, were human it happens.

  • it is irritating they are using footage from 1990 and say it is from 1988.

  • Nice to see a car in F1 for a change... Not a chassis glued to the road lol

  • SPETTACOLOOO

  • @Kurac80 I meant after the accident in 1988 Monaco Grand Prix, Senna improved his power of concentration.

  • Senna 'needed' to make this mistake to win 1988 season.

  • @emguediguian what are you talking about?

  • No doubt, Senna is and shall be the best driver ever. To lap Monte Carlo, in the dry, a second, yes one second faster than the best of the others is not for any other driver.

  • Some have said his downfall that GP was that he didn't just want to beat prost, he wanted to humiliate him. i personally would not have had this any other way, such an amazing man, amazing talent. forza senna!

  • @tokken808 yeah right...I was wrong...indeed..."The Professor"...and no...I haven't seen the movie yet...maybe soon?I hope... :)

  • Comment removed

  • @baishengren ...back..in the 80's and 90's...the F1 cars were faster..more powerful and more spectacular and less easy to drive...and..the pilots were better...than now..F1 was just more exciting...than now...with all respect for Schumacher,Vettel,Raikkonen,Alonso,Massa and all other pilots...

  • @gixxerboy555 That's mostly nonsense.

1] The only top drivers were Lauda (retired after '85) Senna, Prost, Piquet Snr. and Mansell, then in '91 came a young Michael Schumacher.

The rest were usually average (Brundle) or even mediocre/ dubious pay drivers (like Inoue).

Compared to the 60s to mid 70s era, Senna had mostly piss poor opponents on the grid.

2] The fastest F1 cars overall were those of 2004 and most powerful, in race trim, those of 2005.

  • @darkoneforce2

you are wrong....very wrong...that car was biturbo whit 800 h.p., don´t play whit me, lol, spectacular races in 2004 and 2005 yes, awake to the life

  • @micopretoo1 800 hp in '88 ?!

    Don't make me laugh.

More like 650 hp, due heavy regulations restrictions on turbo boost levels that came after 1986.

In '86 they had ~800 hp or more in race trim, and over 1200 hp in qualification trim, but not in 1988.

The fastest F1 cars were those from 2004 (witch still held most track records) and the most powerful cars in race trim were in 2005 (940 to 1000 hp V10s).

  • @micopretoo1 That car had 1200bhp in qualification and 680bhp in race. If you don't believe me, send me your email address and I will send you a SAE technical paper of this engine with lots of interesting data.

  • @baishengren and..btw...Senna's devil was the great Alain Prost...also an impressive F1-pilot @ that time...they called him "the doctor" and why?because he was allway's a speculating and counting but very good pilot...he was less agressive and less spectaculair pilot than Senna..but very good..I saw almost every F1-race back in those wonderful and awesome F1-day's..

  • @gixxerboy555 Prost's nickname was "The Professor" not the doctor....just to correct your mistake. Don't go crazy on me now, please. Senna was an excellent driver and the film is excellent, it does a great job of capturing him in a nutshell.

  • @baishengren when there was one pilot that came a little close to Senna ..it was Nigel Mansell..also an awesome F1-pilot...with balls of steel...

  • @baishengren Well my boy...I was 27 the day my big alltime favorite F1-pilot died...Since that day...i've never watched a F1-race...that day with Ayrton Senna...the F1 died also for me..ok?!For me...F1 means nothing anymore..but all respect for the current drivers...@ the time...Nigel Mansell was also 1 of my favorites...also an ecceptional F1-pilot..

  • This is pure driving...manual gearbox, little downforce, 1250 BHP

F1 is better safety wise but the drivers in those days deserve more respect for their accomplishments.

  • that's what happens when some1 tell senna to slow down :)

  • the guy who told him to slow down should have had a stroke exactly before he said that

  • This was the beginning of the end of the best era in F1...then started cheating and lack of technical quality, the cars did not depend much more of the pilots. Firstly dosen't matter if Shumi got 7 titles he ran in a powerfull ferrari with teammates in contract prohibited to attack, it seems funny but that's ferrari style of to race. And secondly only Barrichelo and Irvine

  • This Movie is a Propaganda-Movie, and full of Lies.

If some Guys who are F1 Fans since much years watch this its no Problem.

But if some Guys who got 70% of his F1 Knowlege from this Movie, its very Dangerous.

Because this Guys take this Movie for Real.

  • @kallo182 please state these "lies"

  • @l0dgey Okay

This Movie is like an Hollywood Movie, with Senna "The golden Hero" and the Evil Prost. And when Prost retired come the new "Bad Guy Schumacher"

    1) In both Years were Senna and Prost had the same Car, Prost collcted more Racepoints than Senna, and Senna was only 1988 Champion because some stupid FIA Rule.

    2) 1993 Senna had the Car and the Chance to be World Champion, but after 1992 he dont wont to work together with the McLaren Team.

  • @l0dgey

Continue 2) Senna dont came to any Test Session, and Senna dont Talk anymore with the Technics and Inginoers, to build the 1993 Car.

Senna came only Friday to the McLaren Box start to drive, and leave it on Sunday.

But after the first 8 Races of 1993 Senna lead the WC, and he realised that he could still be Champion. From than he startet to work with the McLaren Guys again, and came again to every Test Session. But it was to late, the Car was already build.

  • @l0dgey

    3) And could only get Evolutionate a little bit.

    4) They tell about some "Illegal Driving Aids" in the Benneton194, but this is not True, if the Car had something wrong, it would be Disquallfied after the 1Qualli in Brazil.

Because after every Session the Cars come into the Parc Ferme, and get 100% Cheked by the FIA Controllers.

Even if they find some TC-Software, so know every Semi Fan, that its Nothing, because TC or LC is only 50% Software and 50% Hardware.

  • @l0dgey

Contine 4) And Hardware you need for TC or LC see the first Stupid Guy by only 1 watch into the Car.

Gerhard Berger was Sennas best Friend and his Teammate for Years, read the Book of Berger, and you gonna see "The real Senna"

Berger say Senna was the same Scum like Schumacher, but to Senna it was very important dont show his Dark Side infront of an Cammera.

For Senna it was important to be the Normal Guy infront of the Cam.

Read Bergers Book, and you find out much more ; )

  • @kallo182 one million of spermatozoons and you was the fastest? I have to be honest there so many lies you typed, that i think that you have some mental disorder or any syndrome of anything

  • @shrapnelV

Look, its always the same, i speak since 5 Jears on youTube with Guys like you.

    Its always the same.

First you all make, that you have much Clue and know about F1, and you bring some Arguments.

Than i bring 2-3 Komments with Arguments, and all Guys like you can Answer are Bad Words, like:

"You are an ashole" "Your Mum ......"

So thank you for your Komment, witch is full with F1 Knowledge : )

You are all the same, when you got no Arguments anymore than you get Agressive.

    xDDD

  • @shrapnelV Comment No.2:

And by the way, i like USA its a pretty cool Country, but a find out that the Agressors, who post 95% Bad Words and 05% F1 are mostly came from USA.

I dont know why, but its the True.

Maybe the reason is that the fastest you ever Drive in your Life 50mph.

And so you are all belive in some "Racegod" who can drive much faster than other. xDDD

    I dont know xD

  • @kallo182 hehe i realized that you do not know much, you should learn with race drivers. A couple years ago has been made survey, only among drivers of all categories and most chose Senna as the best in history. But you put a big smile in my face because the arguments of schumacher fãs awalys show the innocence of them about F1.

  • @kallo182 scale quality comes another german before Schumacher. Stefan Bellof and it's not because he died, i saw him and senna appearance in 84 impressing the F1 big teams. Both are the best by a long shot, they ran in a supreme level, watch 84 monte carlo GP /watch?v=3BD3xhX0TcE

Beloff starts in twentieth and finish in third place under a lot of water and senna should have won but began to be stolen as it was in his entire career. Both running in small teams tyrrel and toleman

  • @shrapnelV

This "Survey" you mean was 2008 by F1 Racing, and it was a Fan Choice, NO Experts and NO Race Drivers (absolute no Clue).

If someone think Senna was the Greatest he has something wrong with his Head, even Prost was better than Senna.

Schumacher win the first time for Benetton, and was 2x WC.

Senna could not be WC in an Lotus, witch was the same Performace like Benetton.

Senna was 2x WC by having an Car thats 2 seconds faster than the rest of Cars.

You are right thats Great xDD

  • @kallo182 right... you do realise 94 bennetton had Tc right? and 95 bennetton was equal best with williams. The only time Senna had superior car was 88 and 89 (89 car was unreliable though), and dont be a douche, its not needed thank you.... Btw don't tell me you go on movie rating websites and prefer the "EXPERTS" opinion? Most of the time the "EXPERTS" with movies and stuff are fags... its the same story with F1 "EXPERTS"... fuck them... the real experts are the drivers or mechanics, remember?

  • @shrapnelV

And by the way, what are you talking about, Bellof, Toleman and "other" Racedriver???

I wright 4 Comments about the Lies of this Hollywood Movie...

And you told me i would lie, so before you start some new discussions about some strange things. First tell me what of my 4 Comments about this Movie was "Lie"???

All of the 4 things i right is wrighten F1 History, you can read in Books like Senna- Life on the Limit or the official F1 History Book of 1993.

  • @kallo182 you are talking about this book yet? All your comments are out of reality, if you do not followed F1 at that time and try to learn by reading books, will be subject to read stories distorced because many authors are just fans and there are at least about 10 different books. I aways realize the innocence about F1 of the Schumisters, get help because i don't want to waste my time

  • @kallo182 but here there is another book /watch?v=u2oJ3GncsKw

    you can watch Senna's movie 2010 /watch?v=sfosF-ZAbR4&feature=related

and another movie " the right to win" /watch?v=yK0dAA-UFxg

and see a bit of the truth coming from the mouth rivals like Prost

you have much to learn yet like many others Shumister

  • @shrapnelV

So lets put Together, you call me an "Liar" but again you wright some sensless Shit.

Pleeeeeeese tell me witch of my 4 Points about this Movie was an Lie???

Is this so Hard to read???

And by the way again, i life here near Hockenheim, and i know all the Cars from Real life, i watched F1 already since 91, and the first time i saw F1 in Real was 95.

For me is boring to talk with all this Clueless Senna Fanatics, Every F1 Beginner is Senna Fan : )

  • @kallo182

And dont call me "Schumister" because im dont even Schumacher Fan, i dont say with any word i am Schumacher Fan.

You are only so Stupid to think if im dont Senna Fanatic, i must be Schumacher Fan.

You can only think Black or White isnt it?

  • villeneuve was better and faster

  • @poussyledzep Not by a long shot man! Senna the best driver in history!

  • @NOXXism

Senna was the best of the modern era of F1, the best of all time was Fangio. In seven championships he participated, he won five and came second in the other two. He was Senna's idol.

  • Comment removed

  • As Prost said, Senna wanted, not only to beat him, but to humilliate him. A real champion.

  • Comment removed

  • Ayrton Senna = Best of the Best forever...

  • @gixxerboy555 He can't be forever, he's dead you fool. You mean he is 'The best racer there has ever been', which also I cannot agree with. There are too many factors to contend with. Ayrton is one of my heroes though, just to be diplomatic. He was the truly a unique driver and stunning to watch. I was a child when he raced. I cried when he was killed and I watched the movie a few days ago and I cried several times. I'm man of 26 and I have no shame in saying that. :)

  • @gixxerboy555

    and sebastien loeb ?

  • Senna had more skill than vettel reasobs being vettel has spennt most of his f1 life in a aerodynamicly baby cot with paddle shit gears and all, these buttons most of,sennas f1 life had to drive in a car the danced in a straight line example the lotus and then the fact senna had the vshape gearbox senna only had the flappy gear box, late 1992 93 and few races before his death 94

  • What is the song in the beginning???

  • @GeorgeB3D Antonio Pinto - God - Senna Theme Reprise Redux III

  • This is for us to realize, when you wan't something so much, you end up losing it. Ayrton is the best, but the best can bleed too.

  • Yes your right this clip is not from 1988 the engine is reving to high for a turbo engine.

  • That onboard clip is not from 1988! Ayrton has a Rheos helmet on and he wore a Bell one in 1988. Also this lap is on the 1990 official review as proof.

  • Look, on the onboard camera, the white sticker on his helmet. (look the mirror).

Now, when he crash, he has a black sticker on same place.

  • @Xylber yeah cos the footage is 90' not 88', there was no 88' onboard

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • Bloody hell don't moan about camera footage from 1990/1988, coz u are missing the point!!! Ayrton Senna WAS the best driver in his era and IS the best driver to date, maybe if all time, END OF!

  • @TheJacob98 so true vettel is nothing compared to senna senna is the greatest of greats if there is something even close to a god senna is the evidence of that

  • @TheEnemyac130above Exactly :)

  • @TheEnemyac130above

A little easy to say when you know they can never be compared! At least im old enough to remember him!

I'm not saying that he was not the best of all time! I'm saying that we will never ever know!!!... Vettel vs. Senna?! I dont know who would win, but I cant se anything that would suggest that it's completely obvious why Senna should win?!

He was more fun to watch than Vettel though...!

  • @TheJacob98 it's not moaning - the point is that this video is misinformative

  • @MrHigherStandard the point is.. shut up :L Senna rules

  • @TheJacob98 Even Michael Schumacher, statistically the greatest calls Senna the greatest driver, as does Prost.

  • I think the "unconscious" state that Mr Senna talks about is simply being "in the zone". . Most athletes know this feeling. I imagine that the sporting greats like "A Senna, M Jordan, V Rossi, j. Montana, seem to find themselves "in the zone" more often than the others.

  • a good way to justify a terrible mistake!!!

he was driving unconscious, he never slow down....

BULLSHIT......if you have wachted the f1 race of that era, senna, as everybody, slowed down when was well ahed in the last part of the race.

it is called "to menage".....if you don't do this when you have to do, you're not a champion, neither a good driver. this was a mistake caused by the fact he was tired or distracted. happens, he was a human, after all.

  • @pisomark Senna words that you are hearing here are from an interview after he achieved the pole position for the 88 Monaco GP, not after the crash. It is documented that he drove in an unconscious way to get that pole and that after that, he actually walked away from the MP4-4 scared, and did not touch it anymore until sunday race.

Besides, in an interview after the crash he said that he "relaxed and opened windows for mistakes". Check it out for yourself. BTW, 88 Monaco GP was held on May 15.

  • @JesusAlbertoPinto i know perfectly..tell that to the movie makers.

if you see the clip without knowing of that, you think that senna's words are referred to the race, seems to justify the crash.

this type of films are so biased, people, stay away if you aren't a senna fan.

to speak of the "unconscious pole", documented is a big word....this type of thing, well, if you want you can believe it, personally let me doubt......

  • @pisomark Mate, I saw every single race from 84 up to 94 and i can say with property. Senna NEVER EVER slow down ! His statements always were very clean. The second place is the first to loose.

  • @MauricioCaran people, believe, when he was ahead of the race with 30second of advantage, he surely slow down, because HE WANT TO WIN THE FUCKING RACE!!!

to win sometimes you have to slow down, in that monte gp, he was 50 sec ahed of prost, who was blocked by berger who was second. when prost finally overtake berger, he has done the fastest lap again and again. that prove that at that point senna was not

at 100%, obviously because the race was already won!!!

  • Ayrton Senna never ever slowed down in his career.

  • If 1 more person says this is 1988 or 1989 I'm going to lose it.

You can clearly see that there is no camera when he is stepping out after the crash.

This is a racelap from 1990, yes 1990, not 1989 not 1991 (and it is not even the exciting qualifying lap from 1990 that is more famous but a boring race lap), made to look like it was 1988.

  • @gold333 That's right!!the magic of video editing...actually they made that footage look like film, very nice touch indeed. but yeah it is a little annoying for long time fans. You can actually see one of those 1990 PIAA/Epson sponsored Tyrrell's letting Senna go by @ Sainte Devote. I think hardcore fans would notice, newbies or non fans watching would care less what year it is.

  • a shining star loved forever

  • There is no onboard from Senna in 1988, look at his crashed car at 1:32 onwards, there is no onboard camera mount.

  • I would like to think that he didn't know how to drive any slower. Slower was not in his vocabulary.

  • AYRTON SENNA FULL SIZE HELMETS FOR SALE !

    GO TO HELMETSTORE.MFBIZ.COM

    MANY OTHER DRIVER DESIGNS AVAILABLE

  • Ayrton, mi manchi.

  • Actually I am not wrong. If you watch carefully, you should notice the windows are there. They are just not clear because of the video quality. Besides, back then, as a child I was absolutely crazy about Formula-1. I would get the races on video tape and watch them over and over again, not to mention the countless magazines I used to read. I used to know the cars in details, and I'm sure this is the '90 car. The '88 never carried on board video cameras. Senna was the hero of my boyhood.

  • - this is 89.

  • @redbull69cl yes

  • HEY,at least Alan won, right?

  • definitely 1990. that was a 1990 brabham he passes at he first corner as it had a pink strip of japanese sponsorship on the engine cover.

  • That day changed ayrton's life. To become later, the king of monaco! he was/is the best of all, rip master!!!

  • He heard the news that Prost had set a faster lap time than he had on the previous. Being the typical excitable south American he panicked and stacked it into the barrier. Gerhard Berger tells the tail of phoning his apartment at 9pm that evening, Senna's girlfriend at the time answered the phone saying Ayrton wasn't there but Gerhard could here him still crying... Lol

  • @TheStereom1ke lol, as a brazilian and fan of galvão bueno ( senna's best friend ) i can 100% say that u dont know nothing about ayrton....Lol.

Ayrton wanted to humiliate prost. He wanted to put a lap on the second place ( prost ) and show everyone how much he was better than prost. But humans makes mistakes, and that mistake made the win fell in prost cockpit. That mistake proved something to ayrton, something that made him the king of monaco. See the movie(btw the movie is sponsored by prost)

  • @TheStereom1ke lol shut up troll

  • @TheStereom1ke And what is the problem if it is true that he was really crying?? Senna loved what he did! And just to make that mistake in Monaco and in that privileged position must have been very frustrating.

  • note that he was at first, but the way to go was not to preserve the car! It seems that more and more wanted to take the machine and maybe even take a ride in second place!

  • extraordinary! 00:30 Video for the difference in senna prost was 55 seconds! Simply the best!

  • If that was onboard footage from the car where was the camera when he parked it in the Armco? Bit of artistic license to illustrate a point.

  • Why did he crash?

  • Best part of the video: 0:30

Prost is considered on of the best drivers...

  • @mayituck peopel are screaming???

  • @mayituck ... the fourth exactly

  • SENNA‘S TURNING POINT 88

  • The thing is, going 90% for a man like Senna who's used to going 110% constantly, just doesn't work.

  • this is total on the limit driving...no one else except alesi or bellof or gilles villeneuve had this within them..the opposite lock exiting the swimming pool is insane...if he was more modest less starnge and without the christ complex he would have been the best who has ever lived

  • Comment removed

  • this onboard is from 1990 with a v10 sound why is it written that is 1988?

  • @biskuit99

    Man... You crazy?

  • @MrMnM14 : he's right ! look carefully, senna lapping nakajima on his 1990 Tyrell at Ste Dévote !

  • @biskuit99 : yes ! anyway, there was no onboard cam on his car in 88 at monaco

  • I need to buy this film.

  • Anyone hear what he said " I was no longer driving conscious, I was in a different dimension.I realized I was well beyond my conscious understanding." Anyone know what practice of meditation he was doing? Practicing meditation myself I do totally related to what he has said. Ayrton was "deep" more than just a great driver.

  • Simplesmente o melhor.

  • i was there

  • Senna was a legend

  • @mcord17: He is a legend.

  • Comment removed

  • i still don't know the reason behind his crash....? tell me plz :)

  • @desertman300 because Senna wanna be more and more fast each lap, hes loves limits.

  • @desertman300 like the last seconds of the video said, he was told to slow down because he was in the lead by a lot and was going too fast trying to get faster each lap, he would try and raise the bar each lap until i think not sure the back kicked out and he tried to correct it and even though he is a god at driving there was too much and crashed.

  • @desertman300

He pushed a bit to far and made a mistake, nothing more.

  • @opmike343 lol you don't know shit, so don't talk. Senna was told to slow down and he was shocked so he lost it and crashed because he was mad at them

  • the video is a bit out of sync but being this the famous senna lap at monaco 88 we forgive you ;) anyways. this is senna for you. never slowing down. he was almost a minute in front of prost but he was still driving flat out. a true champion. an example for all of us.

  • when you hear the voice of the good murray walker , you know that exists formula 1 drivers outside the cockpit

  • Racing drivers understand you can't just "slow down" that easily - it affects your concentration, if you drive at 7 or 8 tenths instead of 10 tenths, it's actually easier to make a mistake. It's better if the team tells him something more specific like "look after the tires (fuel, engine, etc)", not go through entire laps thinking about driving slow but go easier on revs and shifts and braking...

  • Look on left rear whell 1.43...it puncture!

  • is the 1990 onboard not 1988 ahahah hondaV10

  • Almost one minute 55 sec in front!

    That is magic!

F1 today no longer have this spectacle!

    1400hp cars and Senna!

  • This video is clearly of Monaco in 1990 until 1:32 (from then it's 1988). You can see this in the car and in Senna's helmet in the mirror. About the helmet, in the mouth or chin area, there were two small windows that would open during the race, to let air to get inside. He used this helmet only in 1990 and 1991 (and the 1991 car was very different than this one).

  • @rvb9012 completely right. the footage is from 1990. the 88 turbo car was very different both in design and noise. the aspirate V10 Honda screams much more than the V6 turbo. beside that, in 1988 McLaren did not have cameras on board as the camera was very heavy back there and Ron Dennis did not accept to carry those boxes...

  • Comment removed

  • @rvb9012 Yes they even mentioned this in the video commentary how they stitched the two together.

  • @rvb9012 wrong. this is 88 not 90. the horizontal slits or windows you speak off was below the lower visor which you can see in 90 and 91 e.g. formula.hu/hirek_media/61499/Image/94341_orig.jpg . this video at any point does not show it.

  • @nysdgiants Have you done any research at all? The McLaren MP4/4 of 1988 had no onboard cameras, in fact, the only cars that had them in 1988 were the March Judds I have an accurate diecast Minichamps model of the MP4/4 and it has no onboard camers mounted onto the air intake, the MP4/5 has. The sound of a 1.5L turbo charged engine sounds nothing like the high pitched V10 of the Mclaren MP4/5, which this onboard is from.

  • @rvb9012 More noticable are the numerous trackside adverts for ICEBERG - 0:42 and 0:50 for example. These adverts weren't there in 1988 in qualifiying or the race. Given Bernie Ecclestone is said to have given the makers of SENNA free access to all the available video footage in his archive, I wonder if any 1988 onboard footage from Senna's car actually does exist?

  • @TheMightyAntar There was no onboard camera on his McLaren, there was on every other car he drove from 1989 onwards as that was when they were introduced as part of the cars design.

  • @TheMightyAntar You have a point. And no, there were no on board video cameras in the McLarens in 1988. Someone has correctly remembered that Ron Dennis did not allow it in '88. If I remember well, they became a lot smaller (and so, much less compromising both in terms of weight and aerodynamics) from 1989 on.

  • não é 1988^^ aí é um v10 trocaram as bolas^^ 1988 = 1.5turbo é outro som^^ + valeu a intenção^^

  • That onboard footage was not from the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix. That year the car had 1.5 Turbo V6 engine. This has to be 1989/90 it's a clearly a V10 engine noise!

  • The film used the 1989 footages, because they dont have any video onboard from ayrton in 1988. Hear the engine sound, the turbo engine for 1988 is Very Different.

  • @zardinho Actually, this is a 1990 clip, just because Senna is wearing a Rheos helmet, used in 1990-1991. In 1989, he wore a Bell XFM-1.

  • 1:42 he's getting angry to the man

  • They lied in the making. You can clearly see there is no onboard camera as he is stepping out. That's because the footage is from 1990.

Shame it's this slow racelap. They should have used the exciting qualifying run where he is sliding everywhere, it's very easily found if you look for it.

  • @gold333 If anyone is interested Senna did not carry an onboard camera for qualifying in 1988, 1989, 1991 and 1992. He only had one for 1990 and 1993. Dumb of TV companies really. The best at Monaco was Ayrton, why not always have an onboard on his car there. Anyhow the 1993 monaco qualifying onboard should exist somewhere as he clearly had a camera on the car.
