I have chrons disease which, if you dont know what that is, it is a brutal intestinal disease that is very painful and has lead me to 3 surgeries. and as a reminder/source of strength I got a tribal piece I designed on my abdomin to remind me how bad things can get and how important one health is. I am now a senior in high school, and sometime next year, or later, I'm planning to get a tiny phoenix tattoo on my upper arm. That way, I can still see it myself and my parents won't even know I have it unless I'm not wearing a shirt.

my dad hates tattoos his favorite part about watching me get one was the fact of my facial expressions from the pain. The thing that did make it worse for me is that I do have a fear of needles. which is ironic seeing as i continually keep doing things that involve needles weather it is a tattoo or a piercing.

On the top of my shoulder was a little stingy and near the arm pit. But I will say it matters a lot where you get it and how much meat is there. My girl got one I drew the same day (tramp stamp) and she is real skinny so she kept stopping.

In fact I know a lot of people who have tattoos and make boatloads of money and not one of them is a thug or weird person. Looking thug bro... It's my personal belief that I don't need a tattoo to show my character. I don't find them especially attractive either. I'm not a hater, I'm just not into them.
As for you mom, i feel a bit sorry. She probably doesn't want you to have one because in her mind tattoos are associated with thugs or "weird:" people. Witch in a sense I agree. I don't call people with tattoos necessarily "normal", but I don't regard then as different always. Tattoos kinda have an odd image.

my dad hates tattoos his favorite part about watching me get one was the fact of my facial expressions from the pain. The thing that did make it worse for me is that I do have a fear of needles. which is ironic seeing as i continually keep doing things that involve needles weather it is a tattoo or a piercing.

Your mind thinks it's gonna be the worst pain ever and to be honest let your brain think that because when your getting it done you realise it's not that bad it's like a scratching feeling but it all depends on where you have it done and each individual has a different pain threshold

@mstars15 Well if you consider your getting punched with a needle over and over real fast then no. Nah it wasent as bad as I thought it would be. On the top of my shoulder was a little stingy and near the arm pit. But I will say it matters a lot where you get it and how much meat is there. My girl got one I drew the same day (tramp stamp) and she is real skinny so she kept stopping.
