  • exac. You are correct. We think of these recordings as recent events, and people like Brahms as living in the distant past. Technology advanced so quickly during the 1920s.

  • This marvelous! There is also a wonderful YouTube of a very old Artur Rubinstein playing this with very little pedal, sparkling clarity, and a youthful brio that defies his years.

  • Absolutely marvellous! Dame Myra understood and played Brahms better than anyone else. This is a hugely tricky little piece, much harder than you would expect it to be...but Dame Myra achieves perfection here, just as she did with her famous recordings of the Intermezzi...thanks so much for posting!
