always use 1% two stroke oil in your fuel to prevent engine and fuel system wear and corrosion caused by modern E10 Eco Fuel! Its just too dry and aggressive to your engine and pump and tank materials. 2 Stroke oil neutralizes the acid in the modern eco-fuel.
Use 1:100 (1%) two stroke oil in your tank to prevent tank and engine corrosion if you use the modern aggressive fuel that contain 5-10% methanol (not good for the old engine and fuel system materials!)
v6 2.3 - 2.8 have a gr8 natural sound, One day when the right car comes up il up load the one off modification..I use to drive a 2.3 for 2yrs...it never let me down, ta 4postin :)
the V4 was 1.7 if i remeber right. The V6 was 2.3 , 2.6 , 3.0 , 2.8 and 2.9. Could be wrong. I have had 2 of the 2.9´s good engines and great character. sierra and scorpios.
There was a1700 V4, found in the 1700 gt capri. But I believe there was a 2.0 v4, used in very early transits and mk1 capris. Then replaced by the 2.0 pinto.
Your right abour the v6 ranging from 2.3 to 3.0. Ford used many varients of virtually the same designs.
They were the days, I remember breaking one of the pushrod guides whilst away camping, which lost a cylinder, picked one up at a local ford garage, bit of filing to fit and sorted it in a morning, Try that on a modern motor!

This is Ford Cologne V6 (2,0 - 2,3 - 2,6 - 2,8), not a Essex 3 litre. The Ford Cologne V6 was not made in 3 litre.

I think thats a 3.8l essex V6 they were still used in many cars until 2003 and it's a very good engine.
It's was used until 2007 in van and trucks as the 3.9 and 4.2l.
Not enough history on the duratech Mondeo V6s that replaced it to say if they are any good yet.
Though I seen a few dead 2.5s in junk yards already.
