I have this keyboard. It worked years ago, but needs fixing. I cant get it to make any sounds or even turn on. Do you have any idea of what to look for, as far as damaged parts or loose wires? Everything looks ok inside, but Im no electrician. Any info helps. Thanks.
I have this same keyboard. IIrt still works except for the connector for the middle C doesn't work so you have to slam that key down to play that note. That plays two demo songs. These are She'll be coming round the mountain and when the saints go marching in.
I have a very old Fisher Price wooden wind up music box clock that was given to me when I was a very young baby, it still winds up and plays, but the wood is pretty badly chipped and damaged. Fisher Price made all sorts of musical toys, including, believe it or not, portable turntables, I know that also made portable tape recorders.
Yes, FP made a portable turntable, a friend of mine had one (I believe it was made in the 1970s). All my friends had an FP tape recorder except me... I had a 1992 GE when I was eight.
It's interesting that the keys weren't damaged when you washed them in the dishwasher, because dishwashers can do dreadful things to plastic. I see an iMac keyboard in the background.
Yes, dishwashers can destroy plastic. I ran the cycle with the plate warmer and dryer function "off." For detergent, I used Cascade dissolving packet gel pill things.
I really like your restoration job there, you've done well at restoring that keyboard, well done. I'm very glad to see that you didn't Circuit Bend the unit, I personally don't like Circuit Bending at all, but if the keyboard ends up in the wrong hands, it will end up unrecognizeable. What demo song does it play?
My mother had something like that, my father tried to fix it, but the motor had blown out, and we couldn't find a suitable motor for the unit, which is a shame.

Yes, that is an Apple aluminum keyboard, shipped with iMacs and MacPros. I have a 20" 2.4 GHz iMac (from Feb. 2008).
